About�the�Course
B.D.S. .D.S. or Bachelor of Dental Surgery is an undergraduate Dental course. The duration of
BBachelor of Dental Surgery course is 4 years of academic & 1 year of internship. B.D.S. enables
one to become a Dental Surgeon. Dental Courses comprise didactic lectures, demonstrations,
group discussions, seminars, clinical work and conferences. Aspiring candidates learn about Dental
Materials, Dental Anatomy & Oral Histology, Oral Pathology, Community Dentistry, Pedodontics, Oral
Medicine & Radiology, various forms of treatment including Surgical Procedures, Root Canal Treatments
etc. Basic Medical Science subjects are also taught.
During Internship the candidate spend 1 year as a rotatory houseman ship in all the 9 departments. Here
they have the confidence of diagnosing and treating the patient with the guidance of senior professionals.
Scope of B.D.S.
1) One can work as a dental surgeon with some private clinic dental professional for some practical
experience.
2) You can prepare for a JR. Ship exam organised by some reputed Govt. hospitals.
3) You can Join any private hospital or ECHS .
5) Join as BDS staff in any dental college.
6) Sooner or later you can open your own practice by making enough investment & this is the most
rewarding choice.
7) You can also do health / hospital administration for any reputed Institution / Hospital.
Admission�Procedure
Ÿ Dental School Requirements include H.S.C. (10+2) with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology with
at least 50% marks. Admission to graduate courses in dentistry is through a general, nationwide
competitive examination NEET.
Ÿ Entrance Examinations are conducted in major cities all over India. Advertisements are given, regarding
issue of application forms for Common Entrance Examination, important dates etc., in all leading
newspapers all over India are also notified.
Ÿ Other than the centrally run medical institutions there is at least one dental college in most states, where
admission is governed by domiciliary status. But to be eligible for practice, one must ensure that the
course chosen is approved by the Dental Council of India.
Ÿ No fees is refundable in any circumstances.
Ÿ Registration Charges Rs. 2,500/- (Extra) for 2015-16 onwards
Ÿ Hostel fees Rs.70,000/- per year & Bus facility can be availed in Rs 15000/- per year.
Ÿ The management reserves the right to change the fee structure without intimation.
Fee Structure : Rs. 3,24,500/- For First Year & Rs. 3,20,500/- (for next 3 years)

PCOLLEGE has been established in 2005 under the Chairmanship of Mr. Ram Singh Bhadauria, and his son,
Mr. Shailendra Bhadauria,(Secretary, MPGI) and Mr. Gaurav Bhadauria( Joint Secretary, MPGI) with a vision to
fulfil the aspiration of those students who wish to obtain a professional education in the field of Dentistry. The college is
Recognised by the DCI, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and is affiliated to the Prestigious Chhatrapati Shahuji
Maharaj University, Kanpur. The Intake capacity of students is 100 per year as permitted by the Dental Council of
India. The dental college building is situated in the midst of lush green surroundings away from the chaos of the city.
The main building of the Dental College comprises of an administrative block, four centrally air conditioned lecture
halls, a conference room, nine dental departments alongwith their pre-clinical labs, eight medical sciences
departments, a well stocked library and a digital library with internet services.
The state-of-the-art Lecture Halls can accommodate 100 students at a time and are equipped with all the necessary
modern instruments. It comprises LCD projectors, overhead projectors, audio-visual devices, speaker systems etc.
The dental departments are well equipped with fully automated Gnatus dental chairs complete with all types of
instrumental connections required for various types of dental surgical procedures and treatments. The 100 bedded
Maharana Pratap Hospital is situated within the campus providing all kinds of medical treatment to the patients.

Oral medicine and radiology is the specialty of dentistry
that is concerned with: The diagnosis and
management of disorders or conditions affecting the
oral and maxillofacial region, the oral health care of medically
compromised patients. Oral radiology plays an important role in
aiding the diagnosis through various intraoral & extraoral views.
Infrastructure & Activities :
The department of oral medicine and radiology at MPDC and
Hospital, Kanpur, deals with diagnosis of oral and maxillofacial
diseases and their medical management. The department also focuses on oral manifestations of systemic diseases
and their management. The department has a digital radiology unit comprising of RVG, state of art OPG unit with
cephalostat.
We specialize in diagnosing & pharmacologic management of diseases of the oral mucosa, disorders of the orofacial
region, salivary gland disorders, orofacial pain and oral manifestations of systemic diseases.
Special emphasis is given on the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of chronic orofacial
pain disorders and jaw dysfunction, which generally pose a diagnostic challenge to the practitioners.
We understand that head and neck radiodiagnostics is a necessary component for comprehensive patient diagnosis,
identify conditions that may otherwise go undetected clinically and Provide a wealth of information about the teeth
and supporting structures. Our digital radiology unit plays a vital role in this
The department runs an undergraduate programme, starting from third year and continuing in the final year where
they are trained to examine the oral cavity comprehensively, diagnose and plan the treatment and manage several
oral conditions. The students are trained to handle medical emergencies in a dental setting.

Prosthodontics is the dental speciality responsible for
diagnosis treatment planning, rehabilitation and
maintenance of patients with missing teeth and its
associated structures using biocompatible substitutes.
Department of Prosthodontics trains and educates the students
to be competent in treating and managing patients who require
comprehensive replacement of missing teeth and maxillofacial
structures. The teaching programme includes extensive clinical
and laboratory training of students in the areas of fixed and
removable partial dentures, complete dentures, maxillofacial and implant Prosthesis. The Department caters to
the needs of patients requiring replacement of teeth by fixed Prosthesis, removable Prosthesis and Implant
Prosthesis. Special care is taken to plan the treatment by interacting with other specialities on a regular basis. The
department is well equipped with all the modern facilities/ equipments and fully efficient in rendering advanced
quality care to the patients.
Infrastructure and Facilities
The Department is located on the second floor of the Dental College building with separate undergraduate clinic
and implant Clinic, under graduate lab, technician lab, Air-conditioned Ceramic room, computer room, polymer
lab, cast partial denture lab with induction casting machine with all latest lab equipments, Plaster lab, seminar room ,
Departmental Library with E-library, Museum, Pre-Clinical Dental Material Lab, Pre-Clinical Prosthodontic Lab,
Crown & Bridge Lab, Sterilisation Room, Faculty room's and department stores. The department is well equipped
with fully functional dental chairs. All consumable materials are freely available for use to the students and doctors
for treating patients.The academic curriculum is covered in the first, second, third and final year through didactic
lectures, pre-clinical work and clinical posting.
At the end of the BDS course the graduate is expected to -

Ÿ Be competent to carry out treatment of conventional complete and partial removable dentures
Ÿ Be competent to fabricate fixed partial dentures
Activities conducted in department:
Rehabilitation of completely edentulous and partially edentulous patients with removable and fixed prosthesis
options. Replacement of missing teeth with implant supported prosthesis. Oro-facially compromised patients are
managed with maxillofacial prosthesis.Research activities are promoted by Prosthodontics department.The
Department of Prosthodontics conducts regular One-Day-Denture Camps wherein complete denture prosthesis
are fabricated in a single day. This treatment is provided free of cost.

Department�of�Conservative�and�Endodontics�Dentistry
Dental caries and pulpul disease are the commonest
problems encountered in human beings, here in this
department it is diagnosed, treatment planned and
treated with the state-of-the-art equipments to restore,
rehabilitate & preserve the dentition in the oral cavity to
maintain the physiologic integrity of the teeth in harmonious
relationship with the adjacent hard & soft tissues; all of which
enhances the general health and welfare of the patient.
Conservative dentistry & endodontics is a branch of dentistry which is concerned with the conservation of teeth in
the oral cavity. It includes various kinds of direct and indirect restoration of the individual teeth in the mouth.
Endodontics is the branch which deals with the etilogy, diagnosis, prevention & treatment of diseases of the pulp and
the periapical tissues compatible with good health.
The department is endowed with dedicated and experienced faculty, all of them are committed to excellence in
education, patient care, scholarly activities & research. The faculty also participate in conducting regular CDE
programs to enhance and enrich professional knowledge.
The undergraduate training program starts with lectures and practical exercises from 2nd year and clinical postings
from 3rd year to final year. Students give their clinical and theory examination in their final year. The department is
well equipped with dental chairs, RVG, IOPA X-ray, 60 phantom heads, bleaching units, light cure units, apex
locators etc.
The treatment provided includes various resotrative procedures, root canal treatment, surgical endodontics,
bleaching & management of traumatized teeth.

Department�of�Periodontology
Periodontics is a branch of dentistry that deals with diseases of
the supporting and investing structures of the teeth including the
gums, cementum, periodontal membranes and alveolar bone.
Infrastructure
The department is equipped with high quality dental chairs fitted
with ultrasonic scalers and advanced technologies such as Laser,
Electrocautery machine, Air polisher etc.
Curriculum And Activities
The curriculum provides students to identify the techniques to prevent the occurrence and cure the spread of
damage already caused by the infection The Department of Periodontology is dedicated for preventive and
corrective measures in management of diseases of periodontium.
The undergraduate training programme commences in the 3rd year with lectures and practical exercises and
continues to final year. During this time they are trained to provide comprehensive treatment to the patients,
including those requiring non-surgical as well as surgical periodontal therapy. Undergraduate students are trained
with skills to render non-surgical and preventive periodontal procedures and are introduced to surgical periodontal
procedures by observing and assisting as procedures are being performed

Department�of�Oral�And�Maxillofacial�Surgery
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a
specialty which bridges dentistry and medicine. The
department is equipped with latest technology in
treating surgical emergencies of dental field. The services
provided include treatment of facial injuries, diseases or
abnormalities affecting the face, jaws and mouth.
Infrastructure :
Department is equipped with high quality dental chairs, Minor
oral Surgery operating room and a recovery room.
The department has well-planned and spacious clinic to handle the procedures of exodontia and other minor
surgical procedures done under local anesthesia.
Department has the facility of oral cancer detection.
Curriculum And Activities
The curriculum is designed to develop the clinical, academic, and communicative skills that will provide for
diversified career options.
The undergraduate training programme commences in the 3rd year with lectures and practical exercises and
continues to final year.
During clinical posting, students have the opportunity of examining the patients and arrive at a diagnosis with the
suitable treatment plan as required in oral surgery.

Department�of�Pedodontics�&�Preventive�dentistry
Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry is a subject that
deals with the care and treatment of children's teeth. It is
thus an age defined specialty. It involves counselling
parents regarding diet, prevention and management of dental
caries, pediatric endodontics, management of traumatic injuries
of teeth, preventive and interceptive orthodontics, cosmetic
dental treatment using latest technology, managing gingival and
periodontal diseases in infants, children and adolescents
including those with special health care needs.
Aim :
The department is of the firm belief that “every child has a fundamental right to total oral health” and strives towards
achieving this end.
Infrastructure & Facilities:
The Department has undergraduate section with 20 dental chairs , along with a well equipped preclinical lab .The
ambience of the clinical operatory is friendly, warm and cheerful to cater to the needs of small children. The students
are well groomed in the subject with both preclinical education and clinical work. The department is very well
equipped with all instruments and machineries to provide complete perfect care to all child patients under one roof.
All surgical procedures are done under strict sterilization.
School Dental Health:
Regular school dental camps are also organized to stress on the preventive aspect of dental diseases and to educate
the children about maintaining proper dental health.

Department�of�Oral�Pathology�&�Microbiology
The department of Oral Pathology & Microbiology has been the
backbone of this institute in giving diagnosis and information
about various potentially malignant oral lesions, oral cancer,
odontogenic cysts and tumours. It plays a pivotal role in
establishing the final diagnosis. The department lab is well
equipped with the resources required for histopathology,
hematology and microbiology investigations.

• Well equipped laboratory containing various instruments such
as Microscopes, Tissue Processing unit, Hot air oven, Incubator

Department�of�Public�Health�Dentistry
Public health dentistry is a branch of dentistry which deals
with preventing disease, prolonging life & promoting
physical & mental efficiency through organized
community efforts for the sanitation of the environment, the
control of communicable infections, the education of individual
in personal hygiene, the organization.
Infrastructure & Activities: Situated on the Fifth floor of the
dental college, it comprises of an undergraduate clinic. We work
with a mission to eliminate disparities in health status and access to health care services, promote optimum oral
health and prevent disease through research, training and preventive and curative services. Our mobile dental unit
(MDU), also helps in this endeavor of providing oral health care to the underserved in the rural areas. The
Department of Public Heath Dentistry offers training, research and community health services through its various
outdoor activities in form of dental camps, community based comprehensive medical care, mobile and satellite
clinics apart from its regular indoor treatment facilities. Oral Health Information center is also established in the
department for displaying the work of students and staff members in educating the common people regarding oral
health. Tobacco cessation awareness center focuses on de-addiction of various tobacco habits. The departmental
infrastructure is well- equipped to provide the treatment of the patients for preventive and comprehensive dental
care.
The department is equipped with various dental models, charts and Audio Visual aids and is presently being utilized
for individual patient counselling and tobacco cessation program. Our Under Graduate (BDS) program starts with
the fourth year BDS, where the students are trained through a strict and regular schedule of lectures, clinical
postings and outreach camps.
Facilities Available: Our department is equipped with state of art facilities for preventive procedures and patient
counseling. Our mobile dental unit is active in providing oral health care to the underprivileged. We also educate the
public regarding importance of oral health & hygiene and tobacco cessation.
In the Academic year of 2016-2017, we have attended and educated approximately 3000 patients in village dental
camps, 4200 patients in school dental health programs and
1000 patients in the department. We also perform procedures
for caries prevention such as Fluoride application, Pit & fissure
sealant application, Atraumatic Restorative Technique (A.R.T)
and Preventive Resin Restorations (PRR).

The�Dental�OPD�&�Camps
s the College is situated in the vicinity of
Arural areas, there is an abundance of
patients being diagnosed in the Dental
OPD. At a daily average, the dental OPD plays
host to more than 100-150 patients who are
diagnosed and treated according to their needs.
Owing to the unawareness regarding the
importance of dental treatment there are many
patients who are diagnosed with precancerous
and cancarous lesions. The students are made
aware of the features of such abnormalities in the
mouth and other related body parts. They are
seriously attended to and are properly treated
according to the condition required.
Strict measures are also taken to maintain
sterilization in all the departments. Proper modes
of sterilization of instruments, dental chairs, chair
side stools along with proper barriers for infection
control of students are thoroughly followed. The
students are given proper guidance by the faculty
for providing various treatment procedures in the
dental OPD.
The college also organises Dental and Medical
Camps in the rural as well as the city areas. There
have been many camps (Dhankutti, IMA Hall,
Expressway Road, Bhargava Estate, Nariyal
Bazaar) that have been held on a grand scale
which had many eminent personalities of the
region attending to increase interest among the
people. Many School Dental Health Education
Programmes have been organised by the college.
Camps were also organised in collaboration with
Colgate India in the rural areas as far as 100 km
from the Dental College and they all witnessed an
excellent turnout.

World Cancer Day - 04.02.17 : World cancer day was celebrated in the college campus. On this
occasion ‘Oral Cancer Detection Center’ was inaugurated by hon’ble chief guest Dr. V. N. Tripathi,
DGME, Uttar Pradesh. A march past was also organised in the campus in which all faculty members,
dental students & interns actively participated to make people aware of the ill effects of tobacco use.
Workshop on ‘Medical Emergencies in a Dental Treatment’ : A workshop on ‘Medical
Emergencies in a Dental Treatment’ was conducted on 19.12.16 in the college. Inauguration and
speech on Anti-ragging given by hon’ble chief guest Dr. S. K. Katharia, Committee member of Dental
Council of India.
Hepatitis B Vaccination Drive : Hepatitis B vaccination camp was conducted in the department
of Public Health Dentistry on 2nd & 3rd March 2017, in which more than 1000 people were
vaccinated including faculty members, students, interns, staff members & workers.
