8. EASE OF OPERATION & ADJUSTMENTS

The operator can easily adjust and control the implement from operator’s seat in the field as the adjustments are within the easy reach of operator. However the operator has

to get down from the tractor in order to raise/lower the depth adjusting skids.

9. DEFECTS, BREAKDOWNS AND REPAIRS

No break down was observed during 43.36 hours of dry and wet land operations

10. SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS, COMMENTS AND RECOMMENDATION

10.1 The specification of implement hitch does not conform fully to the IS: 4468 (Pt-I)-1997

(Reaffirmed in 2001). It is recommended that the same should be provided conforming to

the relevant Indian Standards.

10.2 The hardness of rotavator blades at shank & edge portion was recorded as 298 to 373 and

337 to 404, against the requirement of 37 to 45 HRC (344 – 411 HB) and 56 ± 3 HRC (512

– 634 HB) respectively. The hardness at shank portion is considered on higher side and at

edge portion is considered on lower side than the requirements of relevant Indian Standard.

This should be looked into.

10.3 The rate of work was recorded as 0.253 to 0.291 ha/h at forward speed of 2.82 to 2.88 km/h

in dry operation. The wetland operation required two passes to get desirable puddling index.

10.4 The depth of operation in dry was recorded as 10 to 11 cm and depth of Puddle was

recorded 17 to 18 cm, which is considered normal for such operations.

10.5 The hourly rate of wear of blades on mass basis in dry land and wet land Operations were

recorded as 0.02 to 0.04 % and 0.02 to 0.06 % respectively.

10.6 The hourly average rate of wear on dimensional basis of blades in dry and wet land

Operations were recorded as 0.07 to 0.13 % and 0.08 to 0.13 % respectively.

.10.7 Adequacy of literature:

The Owner manual cum parts catalogue in English was supplied with test sample. The

following literature should be brought out in Hindi and other vernacular languages for the

guidance of users.
