We are pleased to introduce and congratulate the 2019-2020 graduates of the Indiana University Lilly Family School of

Philanthropy. You’ll meet many of these exceptional individuals, who are the next generation of professionals, scholars

and philanthropists, in these pages.

Read about our graduates’ plans and aspirations to lead with purpose, and in turn improve philanthropy to improve

students are exceptionally prepared to meet the demands of today’s philanthropic environment, our graduates are

sought-after professionals who work throughout the United States and around the world. Our graduates work in

leadership, management, and direct service positions in functional areas such as fundraising, grantmaking, and

DAVID BOODTI am seeking a position with a Midwest grantmaking or operating nonprofit that makes use of my experience as general counsel for a large operating nonprofit, and the added skills obtained from the M.A. program.

JENNIFER CONVEYI am a nonprofit consultant at a firm in Chicago, but after graduation/in the future, I am also interested in using my master’s degree and experience as a consultant in the field and a foundation board member to explore opportunities to work at a foundation or a philanthropic consulting firm, either in the Chicago or Washington, D.C. areas, or elsewhere.

AMY STANSFIELD CURTISAfter graduation, I plan to leverage my education and experiences in my business development career. Though I’m not currently working in the philanthropic community, I plan to contribute and find ways to participate professionally.

MONICA BOPPI plan to remain in Indy with my family and continue my search for a position in the nonprofit sector.

AMANDA DIMMERI plan to continue in my role as a youth talent development specialist, working as a success coach with youth in Southwest Michigan. I also will continue to use my time to serve as a court appointed special advocate for neglected and abused children. I am leaving my future plans open to my interests, but I am excited to seek out various roles centered on fund development and program management focused on child and youth services.

BRYAN FEGLEYAfter graduation, I plan to continue to fundraise in the nonprofit sector. Where that will take me is part of the adventure! Eventually, I would like to pursue a Ph.D. in a related field. I am particularly interested in the use of technology in philanthropy as well as altruistic digital communities.

KIMBERLY FERGUSONAfter graduation, I hope to work in the nonprofit sector, focusing on the areas of international philanthropy, arts and culture, or human services. I’d be thrilled to continue my work in consulting, fundraising or grantmaking. The program has given me the skills and tools to be an asset in the philanthropic field by broadening my perspective on the role of philanthropy, donors and social impact. I’ll be forever grateful that I turned my passion into my profession.

ELLIOT DUNBARI plan to be an engaged member in the community, educate myself on current issues, develop new ways of thinking, and learn to be a better citizen by doing good work alongside others. I hope to experience more of the great outdoors and listen to others share stories along the journey. I strive to continue to grow emotionally and spiritually into the person I am meant to be, and ultimately I desire to make the world better for the people I meet, and those I never will.

JON GARROWI am excited to continue working in higher education fundraising, bringing academic rigor and deep questioning to the work. As a prospect development professional, my knowledge of academic literature and methods will help me to improve fundraising practices and results from annual fund to principal gifts.

CHRISTINE HUSTONMy plan is to continue working in Indianapolis as the executive director of the Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home Foundation.Every day, I appreciate the experiences and knowledge I gained from my graduate classes as I lead my foundation in supporting the needs of our 105 year-old Children’s Home in caring for abused and neglected youth on the 17-acre residential campus in Lebanon, Indiana.

LIESEL JAEGERAfter graduation, I plan to remain in Central Indiana. I’m searching for a position in research and data or fundraising strategy. I’m eager to begin my professional career in the nonprofit sector!

JONATHAN GOODMANSince graduating, I have continued to serve as the director of development at Champions for Children, a child abuse prevention and family education agency serving over 40,000 adults and children annually in the Tampa Bay region of Florida. I am also seeking opportunities to use my skills and expertise to support smaller local nonprofits with limited capacity for philanthropy, as well as individuals seeking to learn and grow within the field.

CRYSTAL JONESAs the director of development and major gifts at Scripps College, It is my belief that to truly embody and enjoy the experience of fundraising, it is important for the volunteer and professional fundraiser to have an historical and theoretical framework in which to understand this most noble and necessary function of the nonprofit sector. Studying the history, theory, economics, politics, ethics, and law of philanthropy can sustain and buoy the fundraiser’s commitment and love of her work.

ALEXANDRA KAMERI recently began a new role as the assistant director of development for women’s health at Michigan Medicine for the University of Michigan, where I work with constituents who are interested in supporting women’s and children’s health. I enjoy working with grateful patients and families, and am excited to continue to apply my knowledge from my studies!

FARYAL KHATRIAfter graduation, I hope to continue working and growing in the arena of donor relations and stewardship. I hope to eventually start my own consulting business for nonprofits.

EMILY JONESI am excited to be an Urban Leaders Fellow this summer, where I will spend half of my time with an appointed official on policy-making and the other half working with a local organization to further its social justice initiatives. My passion lies in the intersection of criminal and racial justice; I hope to someday work with a nonprofit or governmental organization that aims to preserve the human dignity of those within and those emerging from the U.S. penal system.

JOHN KROETZI will continue in my current role at St. Richard’s Episcopal School as assistant director of development. The M.A. program has prepared me to effectively fundraise and encourage philanthropy in all aspects of my career, and I plan to utilize the techniques and theories learned at the school to follow my passion of creating positive relationships in education and healthcare nonprofit organizations.

ALAN LALLYAfter graduation, I plan on continuing my job as a development officer at the Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.

ANDREW MILLERI will continue serving as the executive director of development at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

CAROL ANNE LAJOIEI plan to continue serving as director of development for Richmond SPCA, in Richmond, VA. I will also continue my related work in women’s collective philanthropy as the immediate past president of Impact 100 Richmond. In that role, I am working with the chapter founder on innovative, trust and place-based grantmaking.

MOHANNAD MOFAWAZI am planning to go back to Saudi Arabia and work there while considering the Ph.D. program.

LECTOR OBARAI would like to transition to a role in corporate philanthropy in the course of this year.

TAYLOR PARKERWith the education and guidance I’ve received from my two degrees at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, I will continue pursuing the increase of youth civic engagement, philanthropic action through activism and organizing, and community strengthening through social justice centered dialogue. I am eager to turn philanthropic theory into practice, especially during the current pandemic of COVID-19, in order to do my part in increasing the public good.

TANIA CASTROVERDE MOSKALENKOMy post-graduation plans are to remain in my current position as executive director of the Miami City Ballet.

CASSANDRA PORTERA Dallas, Texas resident, I am a writer and arts administrator. I also co-founded Kinked Mirror, an arts platform dedicated to increasing opportunities for Black women in the visual and performing arts. Facilitated by Dallas Public Voices at the Oped Project, and using research I completed at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, I will continue to focus on the human rights of Black women and women of color.

ABBY ROLLANDAfter a wonderful 2.5 years at the school as a staff member and student, I am thrilled to join The Patterson Foundation as one of its Fellows. I know that my education and experiences at the school will propel me toward a career of giving back.

HILARY SHEETSCurrently, I am part of the Public Allies Indianapolis 2019-2020 cohort, and will be graduating from the AmeriCorps program at the end of June 2020. I am planning to continue working at my placement organization, FACE Low-Cost Animal Clinic, as the volunteer and outreach coordinator starting in July.

WHITNEY REEVESWith a background in art and a passion for art history, I intend to utilize my incredible education from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy to cultivate and promote the arts in the Midwest. I plan to pursue a curatorial career or work with a foundation to advocate for art education.

RICK SMITH, SR.I will continue to work in the nonprofit sector. After I complete my terminal degree, I will seek president opportunities at the community college level, which is a passion of mine.

AMY STROHMEIERInitially, I will be continuing to work as a member of a research team led by Dr. Patricia Snell Herzog. Beyond this, I plan to pursue my dual passions of the interaction of faith and philanthropy, and impactful voluntarism, in a method which develops organizations and individuals by increasing their impact and leadership capacity by providing the tools to connect their passion to their service.

TRAVIS TESTERI will be the interim sr. director of development at the University of South Carolina School of Law.

JULIE BEROUKAS SNYDERI am looking forward to continuing my role as the senior director of development for The Ohio State University Libraries, leading my team during the university’s “Time and Change” campaign. I will be celebrating completing my degree, which took six years to complete, with a family trip to a water park along with my husband and 3-year-old.

RICK THIEI look forward to continuing on in my role as president of The Kettering Medical Center Foundation in Dayton, OH., and to advancing the mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ in the communities that Kettering Health Network serves. I also look forward to nurturing a collaborative team effort across the network in securing the philanthropic resources required for the delivery of compassionate health care and education critical to improving the quality of life for all in our care.

YUJUE WANGI hope I can apply the theories I learned at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy to practice, so as to better serve the community.

BETHANY WATSONI currently serve as the director of grants and foundation relations for Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. After graduation, I plan to utilize my experience with the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy to continue my work with Gleaners and its mission to lead the fight against hunger for central and southeast Indiana.

HALEY TURRISIPrior to enrollment at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, I earned a B.A. in Psychology and a J.D. from University of Michigan. Post-graduation, I plan to utilize my educational background and work experience in the fight for social justice and human rights. I am interested in philanthropy’s role in organizing communities to work together toward policy reform and in employment at a philanthropic organization committed to any or all of these goals.

ELIZABETH WILLIAMSFollowing graduation, I will continue to work as a real estate agent for Plat Collective in Indianapolis. Having grown up here, I am excited about the ways my master’s degree will partner with my love for Indianapolis and community development to create a more vibrant and equitable city.

JORDAN ALMOSI serve as the outreach specialist for the Exceptional Family Member Program with the Marine Corps in San Diego. My experience at the school provided a foundation and fresh perspective to build upon when engaging with community stakeholders.

KATHY BERMANI will continue as the director of community relations for About Special Kids (ASK). ASK is a “Parent to Parent” organization working throughout the state of Indiana to answer questions and provide support, information, and resources to families raising children with unique needs.

MARSHAWN WOLLEYI plan to leverage my studies in philanthropy and stratification economics to advance Black civil society in Indianapolis and throughout the Midwest.

JENNIFER EVANSI will continue to work for Horizon House in Indianapolis as a case manager and work on expanding my education by pursuing the M.A. in Philanthropic Studies in the fall.

GLEN GOEDDEThe Lilly Family School of Philanthropy education I received has enhanced my understanding of the philanthropic sector in profound ways and has provided me a perspective not anticipated prior to the beginning of class instruction. With this, I plan to further my effectiveness of community service by more fully utilizing the skills and knowledge I gained. I also hope to maintain and enhance the relationships I so fortunately made with my classmates and faculty instructors.

ELIZABETH GRANTI am continuing my education as I pursue the Master’s Degree in Philanthropic Studies.

NICOLETTE GATESI will be graduating with my Master of Public Affairs in Nonprofit Management and a Graduate Certificate in Philanthropic Studies. I hope to work in development at a nonprofit in Indianapolis.

JESSICA HALLAfter completing my Graduate Certificate in Philanthropic Studies, I was honored to move into the M.A. program. I am now working toward completion of the M.A., while continuing my full-time role in marketing and digital engagement at the Indiana University School of Medicine.

KATE KONZENI plan on pursuing my Master’s Degree in Philanthropic Studies with the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, and will continue in my role as development officer at Indiana University Health Foundation.

BRITTANY KURTI am currently searching for positions in donor relations at human service nonprofits.

MICHELLE HOELI am planning to continue my current job with the IU School of Medicine and continue my education to get an M.A. in Philanthropic Studies.

ALYSON LANDERSAs Arthur Ashe says, I believe that each individual should start where you are, use what you have, and do what you can.

DAVID PLASTERERI plan on continuing to raise my children and teach them the value of compassion and philanthropy. I will also continue to work at Fathers and Families Center to help grow the agency and its footprint in our community, and I hope to complete the M.A. program at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.

JESSICA PRICEI plan to continue working to advocate for women’s higher education, women’s leadership and community-based philanthropic advancement.

MATTHEW LYNCHI’m enjoying pursuing the Master’s Degree in Philanthropic Studies, while applying everything I’ve learned at IU to my role in donor relations at Rhode Island School of Design.

AMBER RICHARDSI plan to continue to further my education and continue to work in the Office of Development and Engagement at the IU Kelley School of Business. I will continue to work towards a Master’s Degree in Philanthropic Studies here at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. I am excited to see where the future takes me!

ANTHONY VIVIANOI plan on finishing the MA program this fall and finding a position working as a major gift officer, preferably in higher education.

LAUREN VOGELSMEIERI will continue serving as the assistant director of donor engagement at Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

TANIKA SCOTTI am continuing my education at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, pursuing an M.A. degree as I plan to further my career working with donors and alumni at IUPUI. I also plan to apply knowledge in my community work, serving as a volunteer and member of several nonprofit organizations.

JESSICA WEAVERI will continue in my role as a philanthropy and strategy consultant for corporations and nonprofit organizations as the owner and principal consultant of Jessica Weaver Consulting. For over 15 years, I have been providing organizational and nonprofit management consulting, including effective corporate governance strategy, board and executive leadership development, strategic planning facilitation and execution and corporate philanthropic strategy.

SYDNEY BROWNI am currently enrolled in the master’s degree program, but as soon as I graduate, I aspire to work for an environmental conservation organization.

AMANDA CROSSI plan to use time this summer to finish a certification, interview with potential employers, spend time with my family, and go on as many adventures as possible with my children.

KELSEY WESTI currently work in corporate philanthropy, so I plan to use the learnings from this graduate certificate to be more impactful in my career and in my volunteering in the community.

MYA DAVIESI intend to pursue a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs to become an academic advisor at a college or university following graduation.

JULIA GASTINOI plan to attend the University of Newcastle in Australia and gain a master’s degree in social change and development. I hope to work for a nonprofit while I complete my studies.

ERICA GOULDI plan to receive my Master of Jurisprudence from the McKinney School of Law. Upon graduating, I would like to work for a nonprofit assisting with the fundraising process through planned giving, or giving counsel on legal matters. I would like to work for an organization that serves children and/or our non-English speaking community; two of my passions!

NIRUPAMA DEVANATHANI will be attending Indiana University School of Medicine in the fall.

STEPHANI GREENAfter graduation, I hope to work for a nonprofit organization that serves the community in the Indianapolis area. My passions are human rights, youth, and mental health.

KELLY KEELEYI have taken my philanthropic studies experience to the workforce by doing a year of service through the AmeriCorps VISTA program. I plan to continue working in the nonprofit sector through organizations that serve social change.

ANNALISE MILLERMy time at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy has shaped what lies within me. I look forward to continuing my journey through life, using my knowledge to help guide others to the lives they wish to lead. Thank you to the professors who challenged, questioned, and supported me. It has made all the difference.

APRIL HINDSI plan to take a full-time job. I’d first like to pursue a job at a nonprofit organization that benefits children or the pro-life movement, as these are my specific passions. I am specifically interested in development and volunteer management positions, as my development internship at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis inspired my interest/skills in the field.

NATALIE NEFFI’m hoping to work at a nonprofit organization that benefits individuals that have physical or intellectual disabilities.

MACY ROGERSUpon completion of my Bachelor of Arts in Philanthropic Studies, I will begin working with Gleaners Food Bank as the stewardship coordinator. I hope to continue in my passion for food insecurity and community development to support the people of Indiana and combine it with the skills I learned in the classroom to raise funds and spread awareness.

ALANDRA STARKSAfter graduation, I plan to continue my education by pursuing a nursing degree so that in the future, I can combine philanthropy with health care.

MORGAN OUTCALTAfter graduation, I plan to start looking for a job in a local nonprofit. I also hope to continually expand my knowledge in other areas and spend time with my friends and family.
