So what’s this all about?
• Businesses/organisations have objectives
• Objectives are met by people
• Skilled & knowledgeable people
• But what skills & knowledge?
• And how do they get them?
Training:
Organized activity aimed at
imparting information and/or
instructions to improve the
recipient's performance or to help
him/her attain a required level of
knowledge or skill.
Businessdictionary.com says:
• Higher education (degree +)• VET – Cert III, Cert IV etc• Industry-recognised Short Courses• On-the-job• A combination of the above
But what training?
• Organisational goals & objectives• The requirements to success in any
given role• The skills & knowledge required to
achieve said role• The current skills & knowledge of
the incumbent
On what?
For a business/organisation:• To ensure productivity• To reduce wasteful spending• Increase workplace satisfaction• Decrease turnover• Etc etc etc
Why are these questions important?
