Ujamaa Brownbag: Malawi’s “Safe Haven” Project Friday, February 14, 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. International Room, Kansas Union David McLeod, Biodiversity Institute and Andi Witczak, Center for Civic Social and Social Responsibility In January 2013 McLeod took his first group of students to Pothawira, an orphanage, school, and medical clinic located near Salima, Malawi. Pothawira, which means “Safe Haven”, provides a home for more than 100 orphaned children. This presentation will focus on the most recent trip to Malawi in January 2014 and discuss the value of service learning for KU undergraduate students.
