ThestudyhasrevealedtheBoni-Dodoriforestsystemisofmajorimportancetomammalconservationwithin the eastern African coastal biodiversity hotspot, with indications that it remains relativelyundisturbed,holdingcompleteandfullyfunctioningcommunitiesofpredatorsandherbivores.

The study recommends that this status is recognised and incorporated into future land use planning for thearea,withafocusonfindingswaysforthelocalcommunitiestointegratedevelopmentoftheregionwhilesustainingandgainingbenefitfromthisuniqueheritage.
