Overview of Presentation• The Outcome/End Product (What We Wanted to Happen)

• Building the Feeder School Relationship

• Career Exploration

• 7-12 Planning Folder

• Science Teacher Collaboration/Curriculum Development

• The Lab (Slicing and Dicing the Pigs)

• Student Interviews (Video)

The Product/Outcome• We wanted clearly defined pathways that students could

investigate and explore beginning in the 7th grade. This exploration was both career and academic.

• We wanted a joint science project with our feeder school teachers that introduced our health science program to the students.

• We wanted a planning folder that clearly outlined options for students…this folder will be introduced to students in the 7th grade and will follow them through the 12th grade.

• We wanted students to begin career and post-secondary exploration in the 7th grade and continue it throughout their educational careers.

Building the Relationship• Nothing better than working in a

unified school district!! MHS has 6 feeder schools.• Two annual meetings with our feeder

school principals (bought them lunch)• Outlined program: showed how it

would benefit them. $$ and other stuff.• Did not waste their time, if we said it

we did it.
