Door exterior handle: Removal - Refitting 51AREMOVAL I - HANDLE EQUIPPED WITH HANDS-FREE

FUNCTION

Protect the trim (using a mastic knife for example).

Unclip the window winder plate (at the front) usingthe unclipping pliers, for the left-hand door.

Disconnect the connectors.

Note:

There are two possible procedures, dependingon the vehicle equipment.

Door exterior handle: Removal - Refitting 51A

Unclip the window winder plate (at the rear) using

the unclipping pliers, for the right-hand door.

Disconnect the connector.

Unclip the pull handle cover.

Remove the clips from inside the glove compart-

ment.

Reach into the glovebox.

Push your hand into the inner door box section up tothe glovebox clip area.

Door exterior handle: Removal - Refitting 51A

Remove the glovebox from its housing.

Remove the bolts (1) .

Unclip the trim flap using the unclipping pliers (pro-tecting the trim).

Remove the blanking cover.

Unlock the lock barrel retaining catch (2) , using ahook (locally produced: use a welding rod).

Disconnect the opening button male connector.

Unclip the handle module female connector.

Remove the « cover-lock barrel » assembly.

Move the handle, (3) and (4) .

Remove the handle with care, to avoid damaging the

connector.

II - HANDLE WITHOUT HANDS-FREE FUNCTION

Remove the blanking cover.

Unlock the lock barrel retaining catch (5) , using ahook (locally produced: use a welding rod).

Refit:

- the handle,

- . the lock barrel (9) .

Lock the catch (10) .

Carry out a manual function test on the lock barrel.

Proceed in the reverse order to removal.

Front side door lock barrel: Removal - Refitting 51AREMOVAL

Remove the blanking cover to access the retainingcatch.

Unlock the lock barrel retaining catch (1) , using ahook (locally made: use a welding rod).

Remove the « lock barrel cover » .

REFITTING

Put the lock barrel in place (2) .

Lock the lock barrel retaining catch (3) with ascrewdriver.

Refit the blanking cover.

Carry out a manual function test on the lock barrel.

Remove:

- the door trim flap ( (see 72A, Side opening ele-ment lining) ),

- the exterior handle ( (see 51A, Side opening ele-ment mechanisms) ).

Remove the seal (1) .

Remove:

- the clip (2) ,

- the door panel module (3) ,

Disconnect the various connectors (depending on

equipment level).

Remove the bolts (4) .

Remove the lock and module assembly.

Remove:

- the door trim flap ( (see 72A, Side opening ele-ment lining) ),

- the exterior handle ( (see 51A, Side opening ele-ment mechanisms) ).

Remove the lock with the module.

Removing the presence sensor

Unclip the prism at (1) then (2) with a screwdriver.

REFITTING

Position the lock on the door box section retaininghook (3) .

Carry out a function test.

Proceed in the reverse order to removal.

Front side door electric window mechanism: Removal - Refitting 51AREMOVAL

Remove the door trim ( (see 72A, Side opening ele-ment lining) ).

Position the window to gain access to the mountingclip (1) .

Remove the tab (1) by pushing it with a screwdriverand pulling the window upwards.

Lock the window in the fully closed position.

Disconnect the window winder motor.

Remove the motor mounting bolts (2) .

Remove the window winder motor.

REFITTING

For special notes on refitting the trim ( (see 72A,Side opening element lining) ).

Proceed in the reverse order to removal.

Initialising the window winder motor:

- with ignition on,

- raise the window fully (the window rises jerkily),

- hold the switch (2 seconds),

- lower the window fully,

- hold the switch (2 seconds),

- the motor is initialised.

Note:

If replacing a door or carrying out any work onthe bodywork ( (see 47A, Side opening ele-ments) ).

Rear side door electric window mechanism: Removal - Refitting 51AREMOVAL

Remove the door trim ( (see 72A, Side opening ele-ment lining) ).

Position the window to gain access to the mountingclip (1) .

Remove the tab (1) by pushing it with a screwdriverand pulling the window upwards.

Lock the window in the fully closed position.

Disconnect the window winder motor.

Remove the motor mounting bolts (2) .

Remove the window winder motor.

REFITTING

For special no tes on refitting the trim ( (see 72A ,Side opening element lining) ).

Proceed in the reverse order to removal.

Initialising the window winder motor:

- with ignition on,

- raise the window fully (the window rises jerkily),

- hold the switch (2 seconds),

- lower the window fully,

- hold the switch (2 seconds),

- the motor is initialised.

If replacing a door or carrying out any work onthe bodywork, (see 47A, Side opening ele-ments) .

Sunroof operating mechanism: Removal - Refitting 52A

REMOVAL

Lock the airbag computer using the diagnostic tool(see MR 366 Fault finding, 88C, Airbags and pre-tensioners ).

Remove the mobile panel from the sunroof (see52A, Non-side opening element mechanisms,Sunroof mobile panel: Removal - Refitting ).

Disconnect the battery (MR 371 Mechanical, 80ABattery, Battery: Removal - Refitting).

Remove the headlining (see 71A, Body interiortrim, Headlining ).

Carefully separate the indexing guide panels so thatthe cutting wire can pass through.

Unclip the side trims.

Detach the seal (1) .

Equipment required

Tightening torquesm

the centre cross mem-ber nuts

21 Nm

IMPORTANT

Before carrying out any work on or near a safetysystem component, lock the airbag computerusing the diagnostic tool. When this function isactivated, all the trigger lines are inhibited andthe airbag warning light on the instrument panelis lit continuously (ignition on).

IMPORTANT

Handling the pyrotechnic systems (airbags orpretensioners) near to a heat source or flame isprohibited: there is a risk of triggering the airbagsor pretensioners.

Fit a new seal, available in the reinstallation kitfrom the Parts Department, each time an old sealis removed.

Disconnect and unclip sunroof connector (2) .

Remove the centre cross member nuts (21 Nm)(3) .

Cut the cement bead around the periphery of the su-nroof operating mechanism.

This operation requires two people.

Pass the wire from (4) to (5) .

Note:

When cutting the centre cross member cementbead, pass the cutting wire between the sunroofoperating mechanism and the centre cross mem-ber.

Pass the wire from (4) to (6) .

Put the cutting tool back in position.

Carry out the same operation on the other side of thecentre cross member.

Remove the sunroof operating mechanism.

REFITTING

For preparation and bonding (see Technical Note560A, General window bonding procedure ).

Position:

- the indexing guides on the sunroof operating me-chanism,

- . the positioning shims on the periphery of the sun-roof operating mechanism.

Using a special support (X2):

- Windscreen support: PARV 202,

- . Set of bars: APARV 200 ESP,

Attach the sunroof operating mechanism.

Balance up the clearances and shut lines.

A technician must be inside the vehicle to centre thesunroof with the indexing guides.

Remove the two indexing guides 30 minutes afterbonding the sunroof operating mechanism.

Proceed in the reverse order to removal.

Unlock the airbag computer using the diagnostic

tool (see MR 372 Fault finding, 88C, Airbags andpretensioners ).

Connect the battery see (MR 370 Mechanical, 80A,Battery: Removal - Refitting).

Initialise the sunroof motor (see MR 370 Mechani-cal, 87D, Electric windows - Sunroof, Initialisa-tion ).

REMOVAL

Position the sunroof opening command in interme-diate opening position (1) .

Remove the bolts from the front of the mobile pa-

nel (5.6 Nm) (2) .

Remove the bolts from the rear of the mobile pa-nel (5.6 Nm) (3) .

Remove the mobile panel (this operation requires

two people).

Tightening torquesm

When removing and refitting the mobile panel, putsome « Frenbloc » on the mounting bolts.

When replacing a mobile panel, replace the bolts

with the bolts supplied with the mobile panel.

Proceed in the reverse order to removal.

Initialise the sunroof motor (see MR 370 Mechani-cal, 87D, Electric windows - Sunroof, Electric su-nroof: Initialisation) ,

Sunroof deflector: Removal - Refitting 52A

REMOVAL

Open the moving panel.

Remove the deflector bolts (2 Nm) (1) whilst sup-porting the deflector.

Remove the air deflector.

REFITTING

When removing and refitting the deflector, put some« Frenbloc » on the mounting bolts.

When replacing a deflector, replace the bolts withthe bolts supplied with the deflector.

Proceed in the reverse order to removal.

Initialise the sunroof motor (see MR 370 Mechani-cal, 87D, Electric windows - Sunroof, Electric su-nroof: Initialisation) ,

Fixed sunroof window: Removal - Refitting 52A

REMOVAL

Lock the airbag computer using the diagnostic tool(see MR 372 Fault finding, 88C, Airbags and pre-tensioners ).

Disconnect the battery (see MR 370 Mechanical,

80A Battery, Battery: Removal - Refitting ).Remove the headlining (see 71A, Body interiortrim, Headlining ).

Unclip the side trims.

Protect:

- the glazing frame and the rear section of the roofwith masking tape,

- . the inside of the vehicle.

Then cut the cement bead.

This operation requires two people.

REFITTING

For preparation and bonding, (see Technical Note

560A, General window bonding procedure ).

Position the new shims supplied with the fixed glasson the periphery of the sunroof operating mecha-nism.

Refit the side trim pieces.

Cement the fixed window.This operation requires two people.

Respect the following clearances and shut lines:

- « fixed window mobile panel » : 7 mm ,

- « fixed window - trims » : balance the side clearan-ces.

Proceed in the reverse order to removal.

Unlock the airbag computer using the diagnostictool (see MR 372 Fault finding, 88C, Airbags andpretensioners ).

Connect the battery (see MR 370 Mechanical, 80ABattery: Removal - Refitting ).

IMPORTANT

Before carrying out any work on a safety or proxi-mity system component, lock the airbag compu-ter using the diagnostic tool. When this functionis activated, all the trigger lines are inhibited andthe airbag warning light on the instrument panelis lit continuously (ignition on).

IMPORTANT

Handling the pyrotechnic systems (airbags orpretensioners) near to a heat source or flame isprohibited: there is a risk of triggering the airbagsor pretensioners.

REMOVAL

Lock the airbag computer using the diagnostic tool(see MR 372 Electrical fault finding, 88C, Airbagsand pretensioners ).

Disconnect the battery see (MR 370 Mechanical,80A Battery, Battery: Removal - Refitting).

Remove the headlining (see 71A, Body interiortrim, Headlining) .

Remove the sun visor bolts (2 Nm) (1) .

Unclip the visor (2) .

Partially remove the visor.

Equipment required

IMPORTANT

Remove guide pad (3) .

Remove pressure pads (4) .

Remove the blind.

REFITTING

Proceed in the reverse order to removal.

Unlock the airbag computer using the diagnostictool (see MR 372 Fault finding, 88C, Airbags andpretensioners ).

Connect the battery (see MR 370 Mechanical, 80ABattery: Removal - Refitting ).

REMOVAL

I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION

Lock the airbag computer using the diagnostic tool(see MR 372 Fault finding, 88C, Airbags and pre-tensioners, Airbag computer locking procedure).

Disconnect the battery (see MR 370 Mechanical,80A, Battery, Battery: Removal - Refitting ).

Remove:

- the headlining (see 71A, Body internal trim, Hea-dlining: Removal - Refitting ).

- the roof protection strips (see 55A, Exterior pro-tection, Roof protection strip: Removal - Refit-ting ).

Protect:

- the area around the fixed glass roof with maskingtape,

- the seal (1) .

Remove the nuts (2) from the centre cross member.

II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PARTCONCERNED

Cut the cement bead.

This operation requires two people.

IMPORTANT

Before carrying out any work on or near a safetysystem component, lock the airbag computer usingthe diagnostic tool. When this function is activa-ted, all the trigger lines are inhibited and the airbagwarning light on the instrument panel is conti-nuously lit (with the ignition on).

II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART

CONCERNED

Begin cutting the cement bead.

This operation requires two people.

Remove the fixed glass roof rear window.

REFITTING

I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION

For preparation and bonding of the fixed glass roof

rear window (see Technical Note 560A, General

window and sunroof bonding procedure ).

Place the new positioning shims on the fixed glass

roof moulding.

Refit the roof protection strips (see 55A, Exterior

protection, Roof protection strip: Removal - Re-

fitting ).

IMPORTANT

Before carrying out any work on or near a safetysystem component, lock the airbag computer usingthe diagnostic tool. When this function is activa-ted, all the trigger lines are inhibited and the airbagwarning light on the instrument panel is conti-nuously lit (with the ignition on).

Handling pyrotechnic systems (airbags or preten-sioners) near to a source of heat or flame is forbid-den: there is a risk of triggering the airbags orpretensioners.

Before refitting the washer jets, check that the seal is

in place.

Tighten the nut slightly.

Connect the headlight washer pipe and the fog lightsconnector.

SAFETY ACCESSORIES

Centre rear seat belt: Removal - Refitting 59A

REMOVAL

Unclip the trim (1) .

Remove:

- the seat belt buckle trim,

- the headlining ( (see 71A, Body interior trim) ).

Remove:

- the seat belt anchorage bolt,

- the inertia reel mounting bolt.

REFITTING

Torque tighten the seat belt mounting bolts (21Nm) .

Proceed in the reverse order to removal.

Tightening torquesm

seat belt mounting bolts 21 Nm

IMPORTANT

In case of doubt on how a safety system compo-nent is activated ( (see 03B, Impact) ).
