Line bending involves heating a

thermoplastic sheet of material over a

strip heater until it becomes softened and then bending it into the required shape. It can be

shaped manually or with a jig to bend the plastic to a specific angle. As the plastic cools it

hardens.

What is line bending?

The first line is heated over the strip heater

An then completed at a right angle to the rest of the plastic.

The second bend is then heated and

made at the base of the fins, and

again completed at right angles

The side bends are heated and

folded back one by one

A block of wood can be used to

support the side bends – see below.
