GROWING IN FAITH

Our Lenten Journeymdash2016

Deepen Your Holy Week Celebrate Palm Sunday by making crosses out of palms Before coloring Easter eggs let children write messages

on the eggs in crayon that celebrate the true meaning of Easter For example ldquoChrist is risenrdquo ldquoJesus loves usrdquo

Emphasize the importance of service on Holy Thursday by helping someone in need

Acknowledge the sadness of Good Friday by encouraging kids to write letters or draw pictures for people who are grieving the loss of a loved one

Bring your children to church on Holy Saturday to help decorate for the Easter liturgies Contact Jen Briggs at 971201-2657 to volunteer

Take time to bake Braided Easter Bread or Hot Cross Buns as a family and deliver to neighbors or shut ins

If you are going to be out of town this Easterhellip

Please visit wwwmasstimesorg and find your

closest catholic church Snap a picture and share with us where you celebrated Holy Week this year You never know you might just be featured in our church bulletin (email pic and short blurb to churchladyholyfamilyportlandcom)

Holy Thursday March 24th Commemorates the Last Supper when Jesus gave us the gift of himself in the Eucharist and set an example of the service

by washing the apostles feet Mass at 7 PM

Good Friday March 25th Recalls the crucifixion and death of Jesus This is a fasting day for all Catholics and abstinence (no meat) The church is bare on Good Friday the altar stripped of ornamentation and the tabernacle left open and empty Mass is not celebrated this day Please join us at 2 PM for the studentrsquos Living Stations of

the Cross Return at 7 PM for the Passion of the Lord

Holy Saturday March 26th A day of waiting as we prepare our hearts and homes for the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ The Vigil Mass draws us into Jesusrsquo victory over sin and death that is now ours Vigil Mass begins at 830 PM outside the church around the fire This is the time our RCIA Candidates receive the sac-

raments of initiation Everyone is encouraged to join us
