The LINNC SEMINAR takes form!Dear Colleagues, Dear Friends,

Within a specialty as vibrant and in constant evolution as our own, one of greatest challenges is to keep abreast of changes in information, technique and practice which seem to occur every week. Working together, the LINNC community has responded to this challenge with the creation of unique pedagogical tools specially designed to reflect the state of the art in interventional neuroradiology and neurosurgery, the LINNC SEMINAR.

Why call it a seminar? There is no accident in our choice of terms and the architecture of this new course leaves nothing to chance except the challenge of your interaction and participation. In choosing to create a seminar, we look towards two goals: first, to ensure the quality of exchange between the lecturers and the participants and second, to ensure the presentations lend themselves to the highest quality of interaction and knowledge. This second point led us to build the scientific program of LINNC Seminar – US edition around pre-recorded cases.

These cases, have been carefully chosen to create illuminating discussions using the widest selection of patients and indications as well as the largest variety of technical equipment in use today.

Let’s review some of the advantages that working with pre-recorded cases offer:

• By being pre-recorded, the presenter can lead the discussion where it needs to go, sensing and following the needs of the audience as they arise.

• This is also true for pre-recorded cases showing exceptional or rare situations where the success of the treatment has been shown to be effective… offering participants the possibility of sharing clinical expertise.

• The careful choice of these cases allow us to present situations where complications

and the way they are handled can be most effectively illustrated, regardless of whether the chosen approach was the correct or incorrect way to handle the clinical problem; all is part of a creative and open learning experience.

• Carefully choosing cases in advance using the most sophisticated imaging systems available allow us to demonstrate in the greatest detail the practical application of these systems as well as the clinical benefits of their use.

Beyond the choice of subjects and their presentation to the participants, using pre-recorded cases also offers something which is inestimable – the actual experience and presence of the operator who performed the case. These recorded case sessions will include discussion by an expert panel concentrating on specific topics such as: aneurysms; AVMs in general; specific AVMs such as of those of the spine and spinal cord, spinal dural AVMs; the management of complications, cerebral stroke, and also the possible discussion on percutaneous techniques.

Your participation, your willingness to share with us your own cases and concerns is one of the foundations of our pedagogy. At the LINNC Seminar – US edition, this interaction will be underlined each day with the presentation of the best cases submitted by you, the participants.

As always, we are dedicated to offering you an educational experience that can have an immediate and positive impact on your daily practice. Thus the idea of creating this new “seminar” is in keeping with our overall commitment to provide you with the highest quality of clinical and theoretical knowledge and information in a forum that emphasizes interactivity and encourages your participation.

We wish you a fruitful seminar.

Sincerely,
