Marine Corps Transparent Armored Gun Shield Reducible (MCTAGS-R) The patent pending MCTAGS-R is the first height reducible gunner protection kit that will support the maximum deck height restrictions of amphibious shipping and meets the requirement to embark aboard Maritime Pre-Positioned Shipping alongwith U.S. Navy amphibious assets.

MCTAGS-R is part of the BAE Systems Modular Gunner Protection System (MGPS) family of protective armaments. This includes the Transparent Armored Gun Shield for Light Tactical Vehicles, HMMWV, M1A1 Abrams, M113 Bradley, MTVR, LVSR and MRAP vehicles.

The MCTAGS-R is compatible with all various crews served weapon mounts while providing protection from direct small arms fire and IED fragments.

Survivability–Employment of TAGS & MCTAGS-R will allow the U.S. Marines to assault the beach with the same level of protection offered by MCTAGS.

Lethality–Gunner protection allows for expedited target neutralization.

Situational Awareness–Gunners endorse the enhanced direct vision capability, especially in urban environments.

Adaptability–MCTAGS-R is adaptable to all tactical vehicles.

Performance–MCTAGS-R provides excellent multi-hit performance for small arms fire.

Transportability–Height reducible to meet amphibious shipping constraints.

MCTAGS-R, when collapsed, increases vehicle height by less than 6” and can be assembled and ready for combat in less than one hour. The system stays completely inside the vehicle envelop of the M1151 HMMWV. Modular approach allows for lower cost repairs and increased commonality with the currently fielded MCTAGS systems.
