start-up business into a multi stateorganization recognized by others as aworld class organization.

The Board of Directors would like towelcome Heartland Regional MedicalCenter’s CEO Steve Lunn to the Board ofDirectors. We look forward to Steve’sinput and guidance. At the same time wewould like to offer a special ‘Thank You’to Jill Lewis for her dedicated service tothe Chamber. Jill elected not to run foranother term, in order to spending moretime with her family. Jill has led theMembership Committee and theMarketing Committee. Also, thank youto Ashley Gott for taking on theadditional duties as our newSecretary/Treasurer for the Board ofDirectors.

After being absent from the Chamberfor a while, we are happy to welcomeback Joni Barwick. Joni has taken on theadditional responsibilities ofMembership Development. I feel we havegreat a team of member volunteers and

office support to move the MarionChamber to the next level of memberbenefits and services.

This past November, the MarionChamber won two awards at the annualIllinois Association of Chamber ofCommerce Executives Fall Conference. The Chamber won first place for theCommunications Award for Websitesand first place for the CommunicationsAward for e-Newsletter. SI SmallBusiness Solutions is the Chamber’swebsite developer and partner in thisaward. The e-Newsletter was designedand developed by Joni. Using these twocommunications tools, we have beenable to disseminate more timelyinformation of benefit to our members.

This year we will continue to provideour time tested array of Chamber events:Annual Dinner, Legislative Summit inSpringfield, Graduation Spree,Community Day at Rent One Park andour Golf Scramble. Lisa Hudgens, 2011Chairman of the Board, put together acommittee to explore additional venues, like the new Bass Tournament at Lake ofEgypt this past October. Last Christmaswe also partnered with Ed Davis and theMarion Main Street organization to helpwith the Santa on the Square promotion.Giving away 60-plus bikes to the kidswas an uplifting experience.
