Half used their developing networking and communication skills to organise their own visit to a workplace in line with their current future goals. The other half participated in the Earn and Learn Day organised by the Workchoice Trust. The Earn and Learn programme, featured a stimulating morning conference followed by an afternoon visit to a workplace. Students attending this option visited either Auckland Zoo, Geneva Healthcare, Auckland Live, Mt Eden Corrections Centre or McDonalds Head Office. This opportunity has confirmed a future pathway for a number of the participants and with that comes the intrinsic motivation to achieve the required qualifications while at school to enter the pathway beyond. WORKCHOICE DAY 2015

Thursday 14 May all year 12 students had the opportunity to participate in a day of Career learning and exploration.

Students attending this option visited either Auckland Zoo, Geneva Healthcare, Auckland Live, Mt Eden Corrections Centre or McDonald’s Head Office.

This opportunity has confirmed a future pathway for a number of the participants and with that comes the intrinsic motivation to achieve the required qualifications while at school to enter the pathway beyond. For others, it has been a realisation that they do not wish to continue on that trajectory and now they can seek an alternative.

We wish to express our sincere appreciation to The Workchoice Trust and to all the workplaces that so generously hosted our students in 2015. Thank you

VOCATION EXPO - ST JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC PARISH, GREY LYNN

On Saturday the 16th of May, four year 13 students along with Sister Seini and the Marist Sisters here in wider Auckland participated in the Vocations Expo at St Joseph’s Parish in Grey Lynn. The day began with a Mass at 8am followed by various activities in the parish hall. Different congregations including the diocesan priests did their own display showing their specific missions and a speaker from each congregation present, shared their own vocation story. Bishop Patrick Dunn also joined us at mid- day and shared his own story about his call to be a Catholic priest.

It was such a great experience and we enjoyed getting to know more about the different

congregations and their ministry. The invitation of the day was to listen to God’s voice and be open to His call.

INTERMEDIATE CENTRAL ZONE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

On the 6th and 7

th of May the Year 7 and 8 football teams competed in the annual Intermediate

Central Zone Football Tournament at Seddon Fields. On both days the girls competed very well and had lots of fun.

A huge thank you to our coaches Catherine Clark and Georgia Osbourne for their hard work and dedication over the past six weeks. Another big thank you to Natasha Vujnovich, John Vujnovich and Chris Judd for their help with transport and management on the day.

FAITH AND CHIPS

Last Friday evening I was one of twelve Year 13 students who visited Saint Mary's College for Faith and Chips. This is an Auckland-wide event for senior students from Catholic secondary schools. After a beautiful Mass in which all ten schools participated, we shared hot chips, competed in a quiz and got to know people from our fellow Catholic schools.

A wonderful time was had by all, and many thanks to Miss Diaz and Sister Seini for coming with and coordinating our group.
