For my Marketing and Communication project, I had to create a Self Brand. A brand which represents myself as a designer. To do this, I had to complete certain exercises and tasks to discover more about myself as a designer, what kind of designer I am.

The breif.

1 2

Page 5: Marketing and communication - Self branding

I went on the Brand House website to find out my archetype as part of a task that was requested. I was The Creator, The Jester and The regular guy or girl. I was quite happy to have the Creator as my number one archetype as I really did doubt myself as being a designer.Below are my temperament results, I had to answer a series of questions, my results were XNXJ, I am equally extroverted and in-troverted, more intuitive than sensing, equally thinking and feeling and more judging than perceiving... The more I think about these results, the more I think they are very true!

3

Page 6: Marketing and communication - Self branding

I also had to create a postcard, which I thought represented me well. Because I see myself as a Graphic designer, my words on the card was in big and bold lettering “graphic design”. I love big, big and simple graphics, I purposely used lower case letters for my text because it makes it more easier to read, and it is simple. I chose the hand print, because I had created it for my previous project and because it was my handprint, I thought it would be best to represent me. Using my hand to represent designs that I created with my own hands. As for choosing red, I really shouldn’t have, as it look like a horror movie poster. But I really like the colour red, and maybe it is a colour which I think that could represent me well? As you can see, I made my postcard plain, and simple, because that is how I like my designs to be.

TAROT CARD

In the list of tasks and exercises that we did, we also had to create a tarot card from our archetype results. My results were The Creator, The Jester and The regular guy or girl. I decided to create my card in that order, having the creator more dominant as it was my number one archetype, and the regular guy or girl be ‘cut off’ because, honestly, I do not want to be a regular guy or girl! I am a creator, I want to be unique. But as it is part of my archetype, I decided to include just the text of the regular guy or girl, and having it look like it needs to be cut off from the rest of the card.I have the Earth with a Jester hat on, the Earth to represent creation, and the scissors also represents creation (crafts).

My Breif. To create myself as a big, bold, graphic packaging. Representing my-self as ‘Daisy the Graphic Designer’.

7

Page 10: Marketing and communication - Self branding

After speaking with my tutor, and finding out what type of designer I really am, we came to a conclusion that I would create a Graphic design of myself.

These 3D models of what seems to be a teabag holder gave me great ideas on what I want my product to look like. I really like the Japanese theme going on there, and with it being to open up from the mouth I think is genius.

I love the simply graphic design used to create this, it also has arms which come out from the body. It is almost like a moving 3D paper model of a Japanese doll.

You can also see from the image where the mouth is opened, that the eyes also have slits big enough for light to shine through and create a shadow. This design is made 3D in every possible way.

I overall think that this teabag holder/packaging is a great idea and will definitely take it into con-sideration for experimentation. I would like to design a product and end up with a similar outcome to this, but with a more plain design. I think although this design is already quite simple, I think the face with the hair, all looks a bit too much. I would probably tone that down. I really like the idea of the arms coming out from the body though.

7

8

Page 11: Marketing and communication - Self branding

I decided to put the milk couple design into my research because I think they are adorable. The design is so sim-ple, I like it very much! I also like that there are two differ-ent types of milk cartons you can get, a pink one and a blue one. Mr and Mrs milk!

They also have arms and legs which come off their carton body. They are made so they look like they are sitting in the fridge. I think it is a great idea.

However, I would have liked to have seen more designs of the same product. I like designs to have a range, espe-cially in different colours too.

For my design I would definitely put in a range of different facial expressions, or different looks such as changing the hair colour for a dyed hair look, eye colour so it is like my character are wearing coloured cons.

The main reason why I liked this design in the first place is because of how cute and adorable they are, and how they have to be together, like a set, a collection, to look good. If they were put by themselves, it would look less interesting and attractive, less cute. This gives me an idea for creating my brand to be something that can be collected, or has to be collected in order to look good. I could promote with one design first, and set up a page or website where they can download or collect the rest of my designs.

9

Page 12: Marketing and communication - Self branding

I thought that these foldings seemed so professional! They look good as a collective, and probably will look just as good by themselves because of such detail and depth they have to them.

However, it is not how I would like to promote myself with my own designs.

I also like how they have a variety of characters, and how they all have their different looks.

I think this type of product are for those who love design as much as they like a challenge in creating models.

These models not only look complicated to make, but I am sure they are definitely hard to make! Not to mention, the steps to creating the perfect model maybe quite confusing to follow.

I plan to make my model as simple as possible.

My own 3D model will be a lot less complexed than these above. These models have a lot of shape to them, a lot of detail and design. I want to make my models almost square or rectangular. With big, bold colours and a easy to follow method when creating the model.

9 10

Page 13: Marketing and communication - Self branding

This image automatically caught my eye, because of variety. Not only is there a LOT of different characters but they are simple, square shaped characters. This is what I am to create.

Some of these models are more detailed and complex but no way as complexed as the previous models.

I love the simplicity of some designs, such as the Kirby (pink square block). It looks so simple, but with added feet and arms, it looks a little more interesting.

I would like to create a range of Kirbys in different colours with different facial expressions.

I also really like how the characters with a head and body, have a bigger head than body. It makes it look very cute, almost like a lollipop.

These designs almost give me an ultimate inspiration for my idea, for what I want to create for myself. It ticks all the boxes that I had listed, simple, square designs, variety and colours. However, the 3D arms may be a bit too much, I would make all arms and possible legs, to be flat and 2D.

11

Page 14: Marketing and communication - Self branding

I really like these products/designs of seems to be like a packaging? They look adorable and sweet. I love how there are different colours of the same product.

I would have thought these were chocolate packages but they don’t seem to speak out chocolate to me. More like fragrance?

Again, I love the simplicity! And variety! This is exactly what I want in my design.

I also really like these because of the pastel and baby col-ours. Light pink, light purple, and light blue. And the flowers that match perfectly with the packaging as well.

They look like they could be used at wedding events, or just something romantic.

I may sound like a hypocrite, but although I very much do like these designs, the matching flower and ribbon might still look a bit too plain, just a little bit too plain with the packaging. Maybe a small design that is almost unoticable onto the front wouldn’t harm? Or possibly emboss a pattern or design onto the packging.Other than that, it is a cute and sweet design.

11 12

Page 15: Marketing and communication - Self branding

I have looked at some post card designs that happened to be posted through my door... by Domino’s!

Why am I looking at these designs? It’s because for my 3D model, I plan to advertise it as a 2D net, where peo-ple would have to make the 3D model themselves.

These postcards here are approximately A5 format, I decided to include these in my ideas because I liked the simplicity of it. I will only be making a design on one side of the post card, and possibly will have to think about whether the de-sign should be in lots of colour or plain.

This is because, I am creating a postcard with a net on the reverse side of it, and being a net, it would need to be cut out. These post cards would be printed, and sometimes using a variety of dif-ferent ink colours would probably push the cost up. I would probably have to use as little colour as possible to keep the budget down.

13

Page 16: Marketing and communication - Self branding

Above: This is what I call a Pixel Head, where everything seems pixelated. It seems like an idea, but just by looking at the sketch, it seems to give my eyes a slight discomfort.

Left: Typography Face. This face will be made up using only typog-raphy. Not a typogram, but for instance, eyes as letter ‘o’ and the mouth as a upper case ‘D’. Because I also love typography, I thought I could make this work.

Left: Sqaure head. The reason I decided to make a square head was because the charaters head is already square, why not give it sqaure features? (Not like the pixel head). The only square feature other than the head are the eyes.

Left: TypogramI love typography, and I also love typo-grams. I wanted to see if I could maybe create a face out of letters?I will be creating the hair, with the letters ‘hair’ and eyes, with ‘eyes’ and it goes on...

13 14

Page 17: Marketing and communication - Self branding

I did originally have an idea where my character would be one square or rectangular block. Basically it was only going to be one block. But I thought it would be more interesting if I had split it so that it was in three seperate blocks.

I also think that this is a good idea, making three different parts, is because I can promote one part of myself, and the rest can be promoted on a website, where the website will be advertised with the given net, and then people can download the rest of the body/nets from the website.

For example, One postcard, will have a cover, name of website, and only ONE part of the body/net. To create a full model, you need 3 nets. To gain these other nets, you would need to visit the website given on the postcard.

The website will probably be updated every week, with new nets to create new looks for the model. Having split up into 3 parts, head, body and legs, I could desgin differ-ent expressions, different tops and different bottoms. This gives people a variety to choose from and a chance to customise my character!

15

Page 18: Marketing and communication - Self branding

Collectables

The idea, 3 nets = 1. I think this is a great idea. It is also great for people who love to collect. These could be made as collectables, and the best thing is that to collect more of these model parts, you would have to visit the website, my website, to acheieve these nets.

My job would then be to update more nets every week, or maybe every day.

When it comes to different seasons, there could be dif-ferent season models. Could also possibly make nets of Christmas trees for Christmas (Just an example).Would end up collecting and making a whole town of models.

15 16

Page 19: Marketing and communication - Self branding

However, if I do not go with the 3 seperate net ideas, this would be my original idea, to create one square or rectan-gular block. The good thing about this is that it will be easy to make. The bigger the net, the easier the cutting and sticking.

I also tried seeing if a round, tube like shape would work as a model, it would require less sticking and cutting, but just rolling the design into a tube and sticking the ends together.

It is actually quite good as it will require very little tools to make.

17

Page 20: Marketing and communication - Self branding

I decided to go with the idea of the 3 nets, and the col-lectables and variety. However, this is another idea, instead of making one full model from 3 nets, I thought of a model where it has 4 different sides to it, and each side is a differ-ent design.

For example, the head net will have 4 different types of expressions on it, the body will have 4 types of tops, and same for the bottoms. In the middle of this model, little paper clips, or some attachment tool which can put them together and make them spin at the same time.

This product will then almost be like a toy,

17 18

Page 21: Marketing and communication - Self branding

After going through research and thinking of ideas, I have come to a decision of how I had wanted my designs, and have decided to start experimentation, starting with the head net first.

Here, I am experimenting with the face. The left image is the face without colour, the method I chose to use to create this face was the typography method. I call this face, the ‘Bracket face’. Most of the features on this face are made using brackets.

I have tried to make the characters face look like me as much as possible. Brown eyes, black hair with side parting and some rosy cheeks (as I tend to go red easily).

I made it so that the colours were bold, the design was big and simple.

I actually think the outcome of this design worked out pretty well. Having it be my first attempt I am pretty pleased with it.

19

Page 22: Marketing and communication - Self branding

I have decided to experiment with a dif-ferent method for creating the face, this method is the typogram method which I had mentioned before. Because I en-joy looking at typograms, I wanted the chance to try and create one myself. Above is how I started, with the hair.

Then I started to add the features of the face onto my design, I started to add the eyebrows.

And then ofcourse, the rest of the facial features, eyes, nose, cheeks and mouth. I do like the outcome of the design, but it does not look like me at all!

The overall outcome of this typogram, I was actually quite pleased with, because it is my first actual attempt at creating one, and one of myself as well. Because it was suppose to look like me as I am advertising myself, I decided to dismiss this design and idea and follow from my previous experiment.

19 20

Page 23: Marketing and communication - Self branding

I have already chosen to use the idea of a ‘typography face’ for my design, here are more designs I have created using more typog-raphy, I had made a total of 4 different facial expressions so far, so there are enough designs for the design where 4 heads are put together, but I will also make their individual designs as well.

21

Page 24: Marketing and communication - Self branding

Here are the designs again but with added colour this time, I had kept the majority of the colour the same, such as face, hair and eyes, because usually, I just stick with black hair and hardly wear any coloured eye contacts, so I feel that these colours best represented me. The only thing I had change in colour, are the cheeks. I think colours of cheeks are very important as they also show how you are feeling too, like the middle design, it looks ill because of the expression it is giving, and also the bland cheeks, showing no life. Pink rosey cheeks look happy and healthy, where as bronzed cheeks look like a sun tan.

21 22

Page 25: Marketing and communication - Self branding

This design is for a full single model. Meaning a model with a head of its own, and if it is going to look 3D, then all 4 sides of the model will have to have a design. This also includes the top and bottom of the model too.

I have first started off with the head, and attached the left and right side of the ear to it.

This is what it will look like on the 2D net.

23

Page 26: Marketing and communication - Self branding

This is for the top and back of the head.Because I am creating a 3D model, all areas of the head and body has to be design.

My hair is short, like a bob, so on the top image, there is a part where it shows a bit of skin, that would be my neck. The middle design has my side parting in skin colour.

With this image and the previous image attached together, you will get a net for the head. The base for this head will be black because it will be unseen.

So far, I quite like the designs I have made, and the ideas I have made and chosen. I think this will turn out to be a great success.

23 24

Page 27: Marketing and communication - Self branding

Here, we have the first net, but the net is not made proper. The images have been put together based on my own judgement. This is just an example and preview of what a head net would look like.

I named this net ‘Head 1’ because there will be 3 more different heads being made as well.

25

Page 28: Marketing and communication - Self branding

I decided to print off my test head net, and made it into an actual 3D head to get a taste of what the product would look like in real life, and in 3D.

I have to say, that I honestly think my idea went well according to plan. The only down side is that the net has no tabs!

I had measured out the net to fit on a specific format, but because of the tabs, I will need to change the format.

25 26

Page 29: Marketing and communication - Self branding

In case I make anymore mistakes again, I have decided to create the net first, with tabs.

The net measures 8x6cm for the wider boxes, and the two side boxes on left and right are 6x6cm.

I didn’t want my characters head to be exactly square.

And as for the net being blue, I origi-nally did it a different colour, but when I inverted the net, it turned out blue, and I quite liked the colour.

27

Page 30: Marketing and communication - Self branding

On the left, I have created a properly measured net, and named it ‘original’ because it was my first design that I had come up with.

Above is the made, 3D model of the net.I really like the outcome, especially that it is now in better quality. The previous test head I made was printed from a very dried out printer, so quality was very bad. This net has full, beautfil, solid colours which I really like.

27 28

Page 31: Marketing and communication - Self branding

Here are the rest of the designs that I have put onto nets, waiting to be printed off and made into actual 3D life models.

29

Page 32: Marketing and communication - Self branding

I have also included the net where all the heads are placed to-gether and named it ‘twisted heads’ , this is because these heads are able to twist and turn as a finished product.

29 30

Page 33: Marketing and communication - Self branding

Here are all the single heads printed off and cut out, I must say it did take some time to cut out these nets, and even being quite a good, big size, I still struggled in some areas to cute out the net. It might be easier to use a stanley knife but that would be ridiculous, as people who recieve these nets to create would probably not want to go into so much trouble as to getting a stanley knife to cut out the nets.

31

Page 34: Marketing and communication - Self branding

Here are the made and finished product of the net heads.I thought that overall, my design and idea came to become a great success, they are ex-actly how I had pictured in mind.

31 32

Page 35: Marketing and communication - Self branding

I have now gone onto creating the second part of the net, the body. ‘X’ marks the spot where the pin needs to penetrate and to make the product be able to turn.I have also created 4 different t-shirt and top de-signs, most were mainly what I wear.

33

Page 36: Marketing and communication - Self branding

The finished product of the twisted heads and body.

Once all three blocks are put together, it would be an even bigger block. Only that it will be able to spin!

I am very pleased with the outcome so far.

It is simple, bold and very me indeed!

So far, I am enjoying this project, and have discovered more about myself.

33 34

Page 37: Marketing and communication - Self branding

Here are more designs and nets I have created for the single 3D models. The body actually has small slits that can be made so that 2D arms can be attached to the sides. I think that having a 3D charcter of myself in one big block is kind of boring, but by attaching arms onto the body, would make the whole product a whole lot more interesting.

35

Page 38: Marketing and communication - Self branding

Here is one finished product of the body.... however...I had printed it out in a different size!It was an honest mistake, but I really like the outcome of it.

It definitely reminds me of the research I did of Kirby set designs.I had no intentions of creating a small body with a big head, the lollipop head look.

But I definitely do very like it! It adds that little more cute factor to the whole design, the whole product.

The only problem would probably be when cutting the net, it will be a little bit difficult.

35 36

Page 39: Marketing and communication - Self branding

After experimenting with the 3D models, I decided to start creating my postcard cover. At the mo-ment, not everything has gone as planned, but seems to have worked out fine anyway. The post-card is now, a big postcard, and the 3D model is not a cute lollipop head model.I created my cover with very little colour, and used pre-coloured faces with the net. I also added a coloured head with a speech bubble saying “I will create for you, will you create me?”.I did this because my product needs creating, and I am a designer, I am available for hire to create for you!

37

Page 40: Marketing and communication - Self branding

Another cover design, thats slightly bland, with scissors and cut out lines. I did this for a look and feel of creativity. Because a net needs putting together, this speech bubble says “Will you help me put myself together?”I do admit, it is slightly plain, looks almost like an unfinished design.

37 38

Page 41: Marketing and communication - Self branding

More colours are used in this cover, and I decided to keep the idea of the scissors and cut out line because I like the creativity feel to it. Almost like if you look at it, you want to make something? Or that once you see this you know the designer likes creativity?

I quite like this design, its simple and I like the composition of it. I could make more post-card covers using the exact same ideas, but rearranging the composition of the faces.

39

Page 42: Marketing and communication - Self branding

Here, I have used very, very limited colours. I used the pre-coloured faces and filled out some empty spaces with reduced-in-size nets. I really like this design, although it seems quite plain, but I think it is mainly because it makes me want to do something to it, like wanting to colour it in.

39 40

Page 43: Marketing and communication - Self branding

I decided to put all the covers together for print out, and discovered that it looks very interesting when put together, so I included it into my experimentation.I defiinitely like the whole look to it, it looks like a map, or a plan of something. It would probably look even better with one less speech bubble, or no speechbubbles.

41

Page 44: Marketing and communication - Self branding

I have chosen the above postcard cover to be one of my final designs, I love the blandess, and when looking at it, there are so many things I can think of doing to it, it is almost like a postcaed to bring out ones creativity side.

On the reverse of this postcard would be a net, it can be any net, but I put a net on the side just to show that behind the cover of this postcard, will be a net.

41 42

Page 45: Marketing and communication - Self branding

This is my second chosen final design. Again, I like this design because it is simple. It is cute, and almost looks like it is unfinished.

If a children were to get their hands on this, they would probably think you had to fill in colours and more images in the blanks.

On the reverse side of the postcard, again will be a net (any net).

I think my overall design for this project is a great success, some errors, but definitely have reached my idea for this project.

43

Page 46: Marketing and communication - Self branding

PROMOTING

For this project, the main part was to promote myself, as a graphic design, with my own designs. After creating these designs I had show if I had acheived my goal as promoting myself.I opened a website, www.daisydesign.xanga.com. This website was not at all successful, and in fact a bad idea in the first place, because to leave com-ments, the person would need to have a Xanga account to log in. I still decided to update regularly because I had promoted my website link onto my social network pages such as facebook.

43 44

Page 47: Marketing and communication - Self branding

PROMOTING

My second method of promoting my brand was facebook, a social network. The only downside is that the first type of audience you promote to, will be people you know such as your friends and relatives, but if they spread this by word of mouth or promoting my page on their facebook, the chances of getting a different audience is slightly higher.

My facebook page for my marketing project is Daisydesign.

I update all my marketing related work up there, when I make new designs, create new modes, new ideas. I post them all up on the page.

One good thing is that when you go onto the page, you see the percentage of feedback (comments and likes) and number of impressions made (people that have viewed that particular post). Although I have had very little feedback on my posts, there has been a lot of impressions made, I have over 50 impressions per post which I am quite pleased with.

45

Page 48: Marketing and communication - Self branding

Here, I have applied images that I took when going out to get feedback for my work. I asked the viewers to describe my work in one word, and to write it down into these speech bubbles that I have printed off. I was lucky to have a few agree to take part.

45 46

Page 49: Marketing and communication - Self branding

Other than feedback from live people, on my social network page, I posted up images of my work, where I have recieved com-ments and facebook likes from people who, well, probably like my work.I decided to take screenshots to include in my feedback page.

47

Page 50: Marketing and communication - Self branding

Here are more facebook likes and comments on some different images that I have posted up.I am thrilled to have these response for my work, and just happy to get feedback in general.

47 48

Page 51: Marketing and communication - Self branding

I uploaded this image onto Daisydesign page on facebook and a couple of followers decided to join in and describe my work in one word.

I have an album named ‘Design’ on my facebook page, in this album I upload images of the design work I like personally, and here is a screenshot of people who also like my album Design.

49

Page 52: Marketing and communication - Self branding

For my Marketing and Communication project, I did a self branding project which was to create my own brand, a brand which represented me and my design, and to promote this brand my-self, as a designer.

In this project, we had to do tasks which helps us discover what kind of archetypes we are, and a questionnaire to find out what temperament we are. We made tarot cards which were created from to the archetypes, wrote a statement about ourself, and made a postcard with one image on one side, and text on the other. We also did a lot of other exercises which helped reveal a lot more about ourselves. I actually enjoyed these tasks and would like to have done more because I had learnt and found out a lot about myself in general.

Throughout this project, I have also found out a lot about myself as a designer. I have always known I was into Graphics, but have always struggled to figure out what type of designer I am ,and in what area I feel most comfortable in. Even after two years of studying design in Col-lege, I disliked my designs because it did not feel like me. I had no particular way of designing, no exact style of how I wanted my designs to be.

Once finding out what kind of designer I truly am, I felt confident that I could go and do this project, to promote myself as Graphic designer. And so, I decided to literally promote myself, as “Daisy the Graphic designer” by creating a small, graphic cartoon model of myself.

I have found out during our tasks and exercises, and previous work projects, that I am the type of designer who prefers simple, big and bold designs. Therefore, the brief that I have given my-self was to promote myself, as a 3D paper model, in big, simple and bold graphic designs.

49 50

Page 53: Marketing and communication - Self branding

With much research and idea’s, the design I had created, my final piece, I was overall very happy with the outcome. Although I accidentally made the body nets smaller than intended, it adds towards the cute factor. I originally wanted to have the head and body same size, but after making this mistake, I thought it looked quite good. I enjoyed designing myself, and to make it into a 3D model was even more exciting. Once I had created the first net and folded it, I adored the outcome of it and knew that more great designs were to come. The head net I had created was simple, with bold colours and comfortable for the eye to see.If there were any changes that I could make, it would definitely be very little. I may re-consider the colours of the postcards (the blue nets). Other than that, I enjoy looking at these nets and creating them as well. I think they worked out (almost) perfectly well.

I tried experimenting with just typography, trying to create a typogram of myself. I love typo-grams, I think they are very clever and even if the image is not understood, the words will be able to explain. However, I did not think the typogram I created was the look I was going for, therefore I dismissed the idea and continued with what I liked and worked with best; big, bold and simple designs (which was also made of typography since I used mainly the alphabet and symbols).

The material used is almost like a photo paper, it does seem to get sticky at times, so if I were to choose my material carefully, the paper would need a matte finish at the top, or just strong paper with no sticky finish is fine, cardboard is too thick to fold, but card is fine (may look slightly inexpensive).I would also create the postcards so that the nets were able to be pushed out, instead of cli-ents or people having to cut the net out themselves. This can be done easily with a sewing machine, by running down the areas which needs cutting.

The project, overall did take some time. Having to design the nets, and then to create it by fold-ing them, did take a lot of time and effort. However, it was fun to do, and time does seem to pass very quickly. If I was working for a client, other projects would have to wait as this kind of task takes a lot of time. There are many things to consider, the size of the net, because if it is too small, the net would be hard to make. Is it aimed at children? If so, then making the product scissor free is probably safer and better for small children.

I think the size and shape of the finished product is great (the model). I originally wanted to cre-ate the net, so that it fits on a page size no bigger than A5. However, I did manage to fit a net on an A5 sheet and discovered there were no tabs on the net. I really liked the size and format I had chosen, and decided to add tabs on and transfer the net to an A4 sheet. I had realized that having the net on A4 would mean my postcard would be A4 format, which would mean the postcard would be enormous. A4 size was easy to cut round, and easy to fold. I had decided to keep with A4 but honestly, think that it is very inconvenient to have a sheet of paper that big. A4 is probably the least favourite format to have a design on, it looks common, and it is too big to be a postcard, but too small to be a poster. However, for my product and design to work, it would have to be function over form.

I liked the design of the net itself, and used it to be the cover of the large postcards. The design on the cover is still important, but will be destroyed because behind the cover will be the net. This is where I think about marketing, such as the cost. I used small amounts of colour for the cover, because as it was going to be no use after the first glance, it did not need to have so much ink on it.

Another part of this project was to gain peoples opinions and views about the design. I had opened a website (www.daisydesign.xanga.com) which was a bad idea, as people would need to join Xanga to be able to leave comments and feedback. I also created a facebook page called Daisydesign, and uploaded my designs on there as regularly as possible. It has definitely worked better than Xanga. I plan to upload the nets itself onto the page, so viewers can download, print off, and create from there. I also plan to upload more, different designs onto the page, so there is like a collection and range. I could upload a new image every week, or a new set of designs every month.

I have had feedback from viewers saying my designs were ‘cute’ and ‘adorable’, ‘cute, asian style’, ‘recognizable’, and a few facebook ‘likes’. I am definitely thrilled to have received ‘recogniz-able’ as a feedback, as I am sure most designers would want to be recognized! I also had help from viewers, promoting my facebook page which was also a pleasure to see as you know they are supporting you.

However, I would have been more thrilled if I had received more feedback and views from people, especially those who has not heard of me, and had seen my work for the very first time. I would like to know peoples first impressions because they seem more honest.

I very much enjoyed this self branding project, self promotion is great for all designers and just people in general. I would definitely want to do this again and make sure my promotional strategy is a lot stronger, such as organizing exhibitions, actually making postcards and posting them out (have to have a budget on prints), posting videos online such as Youtube. I would say that this time round, I probably relied more on facebook, and word of mouth. I also relied more on people around me, so for next time, if I were to do this project again, I would definitely go for a different promotional strategy. Page 4 of 4
