removal of harmful metabolites and foreign toxins (xenobiotics) in body fluids that might otherwise congest excretory pathways, causing fluid imbalances, sluggish digestion, and fatigue.

Additional Digestive Health Mechanisms

The digestive activity of bitter compounds in Core Condurango Blend is complemented by additional gastrointestinal mechanisms. Slippery elm, fenugreek, licorice, elecampane, and senna are rich in demulcent polysaccharides, terpenoids, and saponins—supporting a soothing, protective barrier over mucosal membranes through a process called bioadhesion. Licorice root saponins maintain normal pancreatic and intestinal mucus secretion and gastric cell proliferation.

Created by the fermentation of polysaccharides by colon microflora, short chain fatty acids serve as an essential fuel for gut barrier cells and maintain intestinal homeostasis. Antioxidant compounds like flavonoids, caffeic acid esters, and saponins protect mucosal cells from oxidative stress primarily through free radical scavenging. Terpenes, saponins, flavonoids, coumarins, and alkaloids normalize gut motility by relaxing mucosal smooth muscle.

Additional Metabolic Health Mechanisms

In addition to their alterative effects, certain bitter compounds support cellular metabolism through multiple mechanisms. For instance, saponins from licorice root support Phase II detoxification of xenobiotics by liver cells. This elimination, initiated by the liver cells continues mostly through the kidneys.

Phytosterols sustain normal energy productivity of mitochondria, organelles within cells that function as the seat of cellular metabolism. Chlorogenic acid, an abundant phenol in European elder berry and fennel seed, raises glutathione levels. A critical intracellular antioxidant, glutathione plays an essential role in Phase II metabolism of lipid-soluble xenobiotics and prostaglandin synthesis. Ripe elder berry also contains large amounts of the amino acid tyrosine, a precursor of T3, the active form of thyroid hormone that regulates mitochondrial function. Tyrosine is also involved in the synthesis of CoQ10, a quinone needed for mitochondrial energy production.

Biological Response: Phagocytes, The Complement System & Inflammation Signaling, Basis of Innate ImmunityThe body is constantly exposed to pathogens through physical contact, ingestion, and inhalation. Two collaborative lines of defense comprise its immune system. Innate immunity uses physical, chemical, and cellular defenses such as skin, gastric acid, and phagocytes to protect the body from invading organisms. Macrophages, a predominant type of phagocyte, play a major role in this critical first line of defense by detecting and engulfing foreign particles—especially those entering lymphoid and liver tissues. As the second line of defense, adaptive immunity remembers prior encounters with specific pathogens through memory T and B cells.

BOTANICALS

The complement system, a dynamic, highly regulated group of immune proteins, monitors blood, tissue, and cells for pathogens and debris. Once activated, a pivotal protein called C3 is converted enzymatically to peptide fragments that attract macrophages and other white blood cells. Phagocytes secrete a variety of molecular signals including cytokines (small proteins), prostaglandins (lipids), and free radicals which provide additional cellular defense through their promotion of an inflammation response.

Botanicals in Core Condurango Blend provide a broad range of compounds that support innate immunity through multiple mechanisms. Polysaccharides signal various components of the complement system, prompting its activation. They also support normal production of cytokines by macrophages, Cytokines assist in the proliferation of both innate and adaptive immune cells. Fermentation of polysaccharides by intestinal flora generates short chain fatty acids that regulate the release of cytokines and prostaglandins by macrophages. As signals, these fatty acids coordinate communications between innate and adaptive immune cells. Certain compounds like polysaccharides, pregnane glycosides, and flavonoids work synergistically to mobilize phagocytes via major inflammation signaling pathways. Abundant in European elder, fenugreek, licorice, senna, and cayenne, vitamin C maintains serum levels of complement proteins. Flavonoids support the stabilization of mast cells, whose histamine and cytokine secretions regulate early detection of pathogens and phagocyte recruitment.

Botanical Profile

Core Condurango Blend is sourced from a wide range of botanicals including Marsdenia cundurango, Sambucus nigra, Foeniculum vulgare, Trigonella foenum-graecum, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Inula helenium, Ulmus rubra, Senna alexandrina, Capsicum annuum, and Gentiana lutea. Although radically different in terms of habitat, physical structure, and classification, these diverse herbs are remarkably similar in terms of their phytochemistry. Shared compounds such as polysaccharides, trace minerals, flavonoids, saponins, carotenoids, terpenes, and phytosterols produce a coherent set of biochemical and physiological responses including, among others, hepatoprotection, smooth muscle relaxation, diuresis, immunomodulation, and gastrointestinal tissue repair.

Core Condurango Blend is prepared using a unique handcrafted method called spagyric processing. A branch of the medieval science known as alchemy and the forerunner of modern chemistry, spagyria is an herbal manufacturing method first described in the early 16th century by the Swiss physician Paracelsus in his book Liber Paragranum. The word comes from the ancient Greek σπάω, spao ‘to draw out’ and άγείρω, ageiro ‘to gather.’ Its essential meaning is ‘to separate and join.’

BOTANICALS

In this sense, a spagyric is a botanical extract prepared by certain alchemical processes involving separation, purification, and cohobation—a critical last step in which the liquid extract is carefully blended with the mineral-rich ash produced by the controlled incineration of the macerated remains of the extracted plant material known as the herbal marc. As such, a pure, high quality, bioavailable product is created in which the plant’s active constituents are fully integrated with its energetic signature.

Energetix is proud to carry on the alchemical tradition of preparing botanical extracts spagyrically.
