Partnership LotsIn the case of bull partnership lots, the new partner will have the first choiceto decide what 60 days they will be able to breed the bull. Ms Briella is one of three Oaks Simba sired heifers we brought to the sale.The Simba bull is out of PRR Accolade and was raised by our good friend,Kenneth Airheart at Black Oaks Ranch. Simba delivers the distinctivewhite faces and consistently produces a great rear end. This heifer’s damcalved as a 2-year-old and has produced eight calves in a row less than 380 days apart, with an adjusted weaning weight average of 670lb. The granddam has produced nine calves with the same frequency and a 700 lb. average. That’s consistent production. Sells open.

KBPB Evolution 1Z – 135 is a 3/8 Simmental x 5/8 Brahman polled scurredherd bull prospect that can be used on Simmy cows to produce purebredSimbrah cattle. The bull that has sired and registered more Simbrah calvesthan any other is Red Hot,who was a 1/4 x 3/4 bull used on Simmy cows back in the 80’s. As the demandfor Simbrahs and for more heat tolerant cattle grows, you will see more Simmy breeders breeding forSimbrahs. The number two bull in registrations was our ole Register of Renown sire – Ward’s Bravoproving once again the value of the Brahman blood in Simbrah cattle.

Evolution is a deep bodied, very balanced black bull that is a paternal sib to the two 3/8 x 5/8 femalesthat topped the LMC $ellabration selling for $12,000 apiece to BETM, 6G and LMC. The older is in trans-plant and the younger is being shown. Both will make a valuable contribution to Simbrah by bringing inNEW BLOOD to the breed. The dam to this bull as can be seen in the photo is a very capacious oldschool kinda cow that brings in eight generations of new POLLED Brahman blood to the breed.

This bull and the two heifers mentioned were actually bred by our ole buddy Ronnie Smith who has a keen eye for bringing in newblood to the breed. This bull can also be used to raise American ABC Club calves and some very productive replacement females. Both lots 10 & 11 are F-1 Simbrahs sired by Smith Hagan Vance N Red, a Simmy bull who also sired Brown Eyed Girl that sold in MAS VII for $3,500 to La MorraRanch, who turned down a profit right after the sale. There are very few F-1 Simbrahs being produced today, but they are the one female that can produce all threepopular Simbrah percentages by simply breeding to a different sire every time. The F-1 has proven to us time and time again to be the hardiest in the toughest oftimes like the drought we are fighting now.

These heifers were actually bred by the late Bud Wentz who had a big time appreciation for F-1 Simbrahs as this is how he and Edmund Tom grew the Simbrahbreed in it’s infancy. They would provide good Simmy bulls to Brahman breeders and buy every F-1 heifer produced. I saw them average over $6,000 on a set of F-1’sraised by their cooperators in the early 80’s which is one of the reasons we started breeding Simbrahs. F-1 cattle get the job done !!They are also great to produce American club calves when bred to a third breed bull. Same semen offer for both Lots 10 & 11.

We only had one babydoll showheifer prospect that was old enough to sell so that made us reach for someof our momma cows. Our loss; your gain –simple as that. Liberty is afancy, black daughter of LMC Gladiator, who is one of the more powerful,moderate bulls LMC has ever produced. Liberty is the dam to Freedonia, whom is now owned by LMC. Freedonia is the dam to LMC UBet who was Reserve Champion at the first Synergy Show. U Bet is now owned by Smith and Southwestern Farms. Freedonia also isthe dam to Matthew Salinas’ LMC Kiska whom was undefeated in class. Liberty also is the dam to RGV Liberty Belle whom sold in MASVII to Jorge Uriegas for $2,300. Liberty sells bred to one of my bulls. Due to the drought and sheer luck, I was able to obtain a large CRPproperty for lease. Out of desperation, I put the whole herd together, including my two bulls – LMC/LF Bosco and LMC Superstar. Shehas blood tested bred and RGV Cattle Co agrees to pay or reimburse for parentage verification on the calf if necessary. We will haveDNA on both bulls on file soon. In the summer of 2005, a group of young, progressive Simbrah breeders established a marketing group namedMarketing American Simbrah. Commonly referred to as MAS, which translates MORE is exactly MAS’s vision —placing More Simbrahs in More cattlemen’s pastures in MORE markets-not only in Texas, but worldwide. MAS is spinning off the momentum created by the best Simbrah we have ever raised with a market for these cattle that hasnever been as hot and demanding as now.

A big hearty thanks goes out all of our supporters for making MAS VII another great Simbrah event. The total MASSimbrah VII sale averaged $4,158 on 66 lots and was the first all video sale fro the breed. Leo Casas was the auctioneer. In just seven years, MAS has sold 1029 lots for $2,743,213 for a $2,666 average with over one-fourth ofthe offering yearling bulls.

MAS has awarded over $165,000 in junior premiums and has raised over $220,000 for different scholarships andbreed promotion. Carlos X Guerra, a founding member of MAS has always said, “A breed is only as good as its people”. With this in mind, MAS invests $21,000 every year in the future of Simbrah in premiums and prizes awardedat the MAS SIMBRAH SHOWDOWN & STAR MAS Steer Show to reward those juniors who have invested in MAS members’ programs. It is our intent to maintain both the MAS Sale and MAS SIMBRAH SHOWDOWN, as annual events in and effort to better serve commercial producers, seedstock producers and our youth.

We encourage other Simbrah breeders throughout the Simbrah World to do the same by forming alliances likeMAS, SYNERGY AND THE ELITE. The successful marketing of QUALITY IN QUANTITY can only be accomplished withspirited cooperation from several breeders working together with good leadership for a common goal.

Last year MAS took a new approach with a new time of year and a new venue, plus we are tying our event withanother event to make it worth everyone’s travel dollar. This year MAS is excited to be part of the big weekend inWharton and the American Junior Simbrah Roundup, the national show for Simbrah junior exhibitors. It’s all shapingup to be a great weekend for the breed and we hope you are planning to be a part of it!

The alliance of the MAS members creates a cow herd in excess of over 1,500 Simbrah cows in production, with90% of those of being within a 40 mile radius in the Rio Grande Valley. MAS will use this concentration of top qualitycows in production within this region as leverage to make South Texas THE SIMBRAH CAPITAL OF THE WORLD.

As we bend the ear of more and more cattle producers with our united efforts, we are confident that Simbrah will become the dominate breed in South Texas. By creating more commercial and junior field days, we can continue to buildon old relationships and create new friends, too. This will help each and every breeder to assist our Simbrah needs.As MAS members, we have also added and created a $5,000 MAS Simbrah steer show at the South Texas AgriculturalRoundup, benefiting Hidalgo County 4-H and FFA members who purchase steers from MAS members. MAS intends togather and utilize carcass date on Simbrah sired steers to assist in creating new markets for Simbrah both domestically and foreign.
