This season of Advent we will restore the celebration of Rorate Mass, every Saturday at 6:00 a.m. It will be a bilingual Mass. Rorate Mass is lit only by can-dlelight. Because it is a votive Mass in Mary’s honor, white vestments are worn instead of Advent violet. In the dimly lit setting, priests and faithful prepare to honor the Light of the world, Who is soon to be born, and offer praise to God for the gift of Our La-dy. As the Mass proceeds and sunrise approaches, the church becomes progressively brighter, illu-mined by the sun as our Faith is illumined by Christ. The readings and prayers of the Mass foretell the prophecy of the Virgin who would bear a Son called Emmanuel, and call on all to raise the gates of their hearts and their societies to let Christ the King enter; asking for the grace to receive eternal life by the mer-its of the Incarnation and saving Resurrection of Our Lord. All are welcome to join us. New Year’s Retreat: Close out 2020 (whew, what a year!!!) and begin 2021 with a happy, holy and healing re-treat titled “Behold, I make all things new.” The two-night retreat will have both traditional meals and festivi-ties, plus powerful talks by Franciscan Friar, Fr. Peter Tremblay. There’ll be time for Mass, confession, and spir-itual direction. There will also be time to reflect, explore our beautiful grounds or sit in our lounge and enjoy the gas logs. The special price is $300 per person, $450 per couple, which includes all meals including a New Year’s banquet and party favors, 2 night’s lodging and access to the beautiful grounds Catholic Conference Center in Hickory, NC. Space is limited, so register now at www.catholicconference.org/new-years. For more in-formation, email [email protected] or call 828-327-7441. #iGiveCatholic on #GivingTuesday, Dec. 1: What do 13 parishes, 5 schools, and 5 agencies/ministries have in common?
