MassQmberconstrucQonuseslargeprefabricatedwoodmemberssuchascrosslaminatedQmberandglue-laminatedQmber.Theseproducts,combinedwithaheightenedawarenessofwood’scarbonbenefits,havefocuseda[enQononthepossibilityof“tallwood”andlargeareawoodbuildings.MassQmberbuildingsystemsandtechniqueshavebeensuccessfullyproveninprojectsworldwide.ThispresentaQonprovidesananalysisofthreerecentlybuiltmassQmberprojectsinCanada:a30,000-square-footcommercialbuilding;a10,500-square-foothospitaladdiQon;anda110,000-square-footofficebuilding—whichunderwentacostcomparisonwithsteelandconcretealternaQves.ThesoluQonsusedineachbuildingillustratetheadaptabilityofmassQmbertoavarietyofdesignconsideraQonsandconstraints.
