OUR MISSIONSt. Francis of Assisi is a Roman Catholic Church steeped in history, yet forward thinking, creating a positive impact on our community while bringing brothers and sisters in Christ together to be the hands and feet of Jesus. In the true Franciscan way, we sow the seeds of the future in the good soil of tradition.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaims that He is the King who testifies to the Truth.

Our Faith is so rich and deep-- you can never get to the bottom of it. This week, immerse yourself

in some Catholic apologetics or theology, so as to learn more about what you believe in.

Don’t Miss This One!Jeff Froh who is an active parishioner here and a psychology professor at Hofstra University, has written another book which promises to be a great benefit to many, especially young people. It is entitled “Thrive, 10 Commandments for 20-Somethings to Live the Best-Life-Possible.” It is a very practical, easy and enjoyable book to read. I hope to get copies into the hands of many of our own young adults in and outside of the Starfish Coffee House. On Sunday, December 5th the book will be available, and Jeff will be at the front door of the church to sign copies and offer them to you at a reduced rate!

By now you have received in the mail 2 books of raffle tickets for our Harvest Raffle. We will pull the winning ticket on November 24th in the Rectory, and the winner will be contacted that day. Announcements will be at Thanksgiving Masses. With Covid-19 still around we have few opportunities to socialize. To help us in these stressful times we ask you to support our parish just a bit more, and the odds are good in small church raffles like ours! Please come aboard; purchase tickets and be a strong support in our (Striving to Thrive!) Parish.

An Update: Parishioners are responding very favorably to Peter Schubart, our new Music Director. They enjoy the new voices and selections, and they are telling me his presence is well appreciated here!

November 21: Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

Today as we celebrate Christ the King, may we open the door of our heart so wide that we may listen to the voice of Jesus calling us to help build

his kingdom here on earth.

This month, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to bring God’s

kingdom of love and mercy to families by providing food, utility, rent and other bills.

God Bless You!

Faith Direct, our partner in Stewardship, has a matching program for this season, where St. Francis of Assisi parish will receive an additional $1,000 in

funds for new enrollments in the program. With the busy times of Thanksgiving and the Season of Advent

right around the corner, please consider registering with this convenient program.

Enrolling in Faith Direct today is a great way to ensure your gifts of treasure to St. Francis of Assisi are received even if you may be out of town. Please pick up an enrollment form from

the parish office today or enroll online at

faith.direct/NY350.

Year contributions to your account this fall!

Music of the Season

Please join us for an evening of music on December 10, 2021 at 7:30pm, presented by the choirs and musical ensembles of St. Francis of Assisi parish. Peter Schubart has

assembled a new adult choir and will be presenting a new liturgical ensemble of musicians for the occasion. The Instruments of Peace Youth Rock Band well known to

parishioners from the 5:00pm Mass on Sundays will be performing with Greg Gullotti. The performance will be in the church, with free will offerings gladly accepted.

One of the special joys approaching the end of the year is the music we hear only in this season. Here is your chance to hear our newest additions to St. Francis ministries.

Please join us for this joyous evening!

FEATURED MINISTRY

LITTLE PEOPLE’S LITURGYRather than a village, it takes a parish group of committed adults to introduce children

to a loving God and the Catholic faith with joy. This ministry presents the Gospel in a child friendly way to our youngest members, from toddlers to first graders, or a little older. While parents attend Mass, children gather briefly in the lower church, offering

parents time for personal Gospel reflections and prayer without distractions. To join, please contact Adam Wessinger at [email protected]

Life and Dignity of the Human Person Prayer

FRIDAY FRIENDS, the peer program that helps kids be kids, is expanding! Word is spreading, and kids are coming. Therefore, to keep the program alive, fresh, and fun we’re seeking a collapsible ping-pong table. So, if you have

one that needs a new home, please contact Cara Froh at [email protected].

God of all life, help us to appreciate the great gift that is human life formed in Your Image, a reflection of Your Holiness. Help us to recognize You in all whom you have created: children not yet born, families affected by poverty and war, people of different abilities, people from other lands, and all who are victims of hatred and racism. Help us to bear witness to the dignity of all whom You have created, regardless of stage of life, or wealth, ability, color or creed, for every person is fully equal in Your loving eyes. Share with us Your holy knowledge that we are all Your children, each bestowed with inherent dignity. May Your justice reign forever! Amen.
