Welcome Note
Welcome to 2013 Masters Swimming Queensland State Short Course Championships
Masters Swimming Queensland has held its State Championships for many years at pools all over the State. This year we are back in Brisbane. Thank you to River City Rapids for hosting the event. I’m told that the Somerville House pool is a ‘fast’ pool so I hope you all swim PBs and that we may even see a few records broken. This year, as well as our regular club and Barbarian members, we have guest swimmers and swimmers from New Zealand and Interstate. Some of you may have been to many State Swims, but for some, it will be your first experience of masters’ swimming. Either way, I hope you swim well and enjoy the meet and hospitality of River City Masters. Thanks to all the organisers, technical officials and everyone who has assisted in making the event a success. Keep wet!

Masters Swimming Queensland wishes to thank our VIP guests: Councillor, Helen Abrahams and MSQ President, John Barrett for their attendance at our State Swim Meet and Club Championships. They will officially open the 2013 State Long Course Titles. Thank you to the host club, River City for generously hosting this event under the guidance of Aaron Clarke, the president of the club. A Swim Meet of this magnitude requires many hours of dedicated work to plan, set up, run and clean up. To all who have helped in any way, great or small we say “ THANK YOU VERY MUCH “
MSQ State Long Course 2013 6
Timing Equipment:
We are using a Semi-automatic Timing System, which uses three (3) button red plungers. We will, therefore, still need three (3) timekeepers per lane – each one responsible for a plunger. One Timekeeper will also operate a stopwatch as a backup time, while another records the time. Announcements about the timekeeping procedure will be made on each day of competition. Timekeeping lanes have been allocated as evenly as possible among the clubs. All participating clubs have been allocated a lane for timekeeping duties. Please ensure your club members share the work load. Club codes are shown below.
Timekeepers please note:
Do not respond to swimmers’ questions relating to their recorded time - this only delays the meet and you may miss the start of the next heat
Once plungers have been activated at the end of a race, go back to your seats, record time on the stopwatch on the Lane Sheet provided and reset watch ready for the next heat
In the event that your stopwatch malfunctions, advise the Chief Timekeeper immediately Ensure that for the 25m events, the swimmer is that person as described in the program
NOTE:
Please check the list carefully as some clubs have 2 lanes because of their numbers.
Some clubs have only one to three swimmers. We would appreciate your support in timekeeping whenever you can.
These clubs are: QCD QUW QMB QNS NCM NTS QRT QRH QSE
