Game 120 | Road Game 55 (34-20) | Night Game 88 (61-26)
TV: SNLA/SNLA Spanish | Radio: AM 570 (Eng.); 1020 AM (Span.)
WHAT’S GOING ON: The Dodgers kick off a seven-game road
trip with the first of three games in Detroit against the Tigers. Los
Angeles has won four in a row as it finished its five-game homestand
with a 4-1 record, including its MLB-best 10th walk-off and 38th
comeback win Wednesday over the White Sox. Following the
weekend set in Detroit, the Dodgers will finish the road trip with a
four-game series in Pittsburgh.
The Dodgers hold a franchise-record high 19.0-game first-
place lead and are 51 games over the .500 mark for the first
time since the 1953 season concluded on Sept. 27 (105-49).
The Dodgers own the best record in baseball with an 85-34
mark (.714), 12.0 games better than the Astros, and also
hold the best record in the NL through 119 games since the
1944 Cardinals (89-30, .748). According to the Elias Sports
Bureau, only two other teams in the last 60 years reached
85 wins in fewer than 120 decisions, the 1998 Yankees
(114) and 2001 Mariners (118).
The Dodgers have won 19 of their last 22 and 50 of 59 since
June 7, which is the best 59-game stretch in franchise
history and the best in the Majors since the 1912 New York
Giants, who last went 51-8 from April 19-July 3. Los
Angeles is unbeaten in its last 20 series since June 8, going
17-0-3 in that span.
The Dodgers’ +214 run differential is the best in the Major
Leagues, 57 runs better than the Astros.
The Dodgers have posted a 34-20 record on the road this
season (.630), on pace for the best mark in Los Angeles
history. The top road marks in franchise history are held by
the 1952 (51-24, .680) and 1949 Brooklyn clubs (49-28,
.636).
The Dodgers have won 36 consecutive games in which
they’ve scored four or more runs, with their last loss coming
on June 15 at Cleveland (L, 12-5). There have only been
three longer such streaks in MLB history, the 1954 Indians
(42), 1906 Giants (41) and 1898 Boston Beaneaters (38) –

INTERLEAGUE INTRIGUE: Los Angeles will conclude its
Interleague slate this weekend in Detroit, and has already clinched
the best Interleague mark in franchise history at 14-3 (.824). Prior to
this year, Los Angeles’ best mark against the AL was 12-6 (.667) in
2002. The Dodgers’ Interleague winning percentage is currently the
third-best in National League history behind only the 2004 Cardinals
(11-1, .917) and the 2002 Braves (15-3, .833).
After completing their sweep of the White Sox on
Wednesday, the Dodgers have now won 11 consecutive
Intlerleague games, the longest streak in franchise history.
The streak is two games shy of the all-time record of 13, set
by the 2013-14 Marlins, 2004 Rays and 2003-04 Yankees,
with only two teams putting together longer single-season
Interleague winning streaks, the 2004 Rays (13) and the
2006 Red Sox (12) – Source: Stats, LLC. Previously, the
Dodgers’ longest winning streak against the AL had been
8, set in 2003.
The Dodgers hold a 10-9 advantage in the all-time series
against the Tigers, last facing Detroit in 2014, when they
lost three of four in a pair of two-game series. Los Angeles
has a 3-5 all-time record at Comerica Park, including five
straight losses.
HITSVILLE, USA: Corey Seager has hit safely in 11 of his last 12
games, batting .408 (20-for-49) with three doubles, a homer and six
RBI since Aug. 3. Overall, he ranks among the NL leaders in batting
average (.310, 12th), doubles (30, 5th) and OBP (.399, 9th). Justin
Turner continues to top the NL with a .345 batting average.
BELLI OF THE BEAST: Cody Bellinger picked up a pinch-hit
single and scored during the Dodgers’ ninth-inning rally Wednesday,
and has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games since Aug. 5 (.400, 14-
for-35). During that span, he’s raised his average to .277, his highest
mark since May 25. Bellinger is tied with Ryan Braun (2007) and
Walt Dropo (1950) for the 12th most home runs in a single season by
a rookie, one back of Hal Trosky (1934), Rudy York (1937), Ron
Kittle (1983), and Mike Piazza (1993), the latter of whom he is
chasing for the Dodger franchise rookie record. Despite being called
up on April 25, the All-Star first baseman/outfielder currently ranks
among the best in the National League in home runs (34, 2nd),
slugging percentage (.621, 2nd), RBI (79, T-12th) and OPS (.978, 7th).
Since the All-Star break, Bellinger has reached base safely
in 24 of 29 games and has posted a .318/.393/.626 slashline
with 20 runs, four doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 21
RBI and four stolen bases.
Tonight will be Bellinger’s 100th career game. The
Dodgers’ 76 wins through his first 99 games are the most
ever for a non-pitcher to make their debut after 1913. Mark
Ellis (2002-03) ranks second with his Athletics posting 74
wins through his first 99 games – Source: Stats, LLC.
MILESTONE WATCH: The Dodgers reinstated first baseman
Adrián González (lumbar disc herniation) from the disabled list
prior to today’s game after the 35-year-old went 6-for-31 with a
homer and six RBI during a nine-game rehab assignment with
Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and Triple-A Oklahoma City.
González, who last appeared in a big-league game on June 11, enters
tonight’s game just four hits shy of 2,000 for his career (738 with
LA). He would become just the seventh Los Angeles hitter to pick
up his 2,000th hit in a Dodger uniform:

leagues to record 30+ saves in each of the past four seasons.
