Dear Major General Mathewson,

I am writing to thank you and the Cargo Helicopter Management Unit for the wonderful support you provided in the transfer of Army CH-47D Chinook Helicopter A15-202 to the Memorial’s National Collection. We are very grateful to Army and CASG for their support of the project to acquire this important artefact of so many operations involving Australians and our allies in the Memorial’s collection.

The professionalism, teamwork and efficiency of all involved in flying the helicopter to EPIC, in preparing it for our collection, and the support in relocating it from EPIC to our storage in Mitchell was extremely impressive. The support provided for Memorial staff in their roles in recording its last flight and gathering information about its service and the service of those who flew in and maintained it is very greatly appreciated.

We look forward to showcasing the Chinook helicopter at our Big Things in Store event to be held in September 2016.
