MATRESubsea Sensors
Expro Connectors & Measurements in Norway manufactures sensors for thesubsea oil and gas industry. The manufacture of these subsea instrumentsbegan in the 1980s. Since then, Expro’s Matre sensors have delivered excellentperformance and the ultimate in reliability within the subsea market.
Today Expro manufacture transmitters based on the experience we have gained over the last two decades.
Our commitment is to make transmitters according to customer requirements and our long term experience.
It is not just making sensors according to a specification, we produce them with care, pride and an attention
to detail that directly stems from our many years of subsea experience. The company is located on the west
coast of Norway, between Bergen and Stavanger. We work hand in hand with Expro’s Tronic products
to maximise value added and simplified procurement process for our customers.

Wellhead Electro‐Mechanical Pressureand Temperature SensingAt Expro we use the very latest manufacturing techniques and processes toensure our high integrity and high reliability sensors are suitable for the harshenvironments of the oil and gas industry. In particular, the ElecTRON beamwelding technique improves reliability through:
• Clean, reproducible, high integrity weld joints
• Low distortion
• No oxidisation
• Minimal weld bead
• Accuracy
• Repeatability
• Welding of dissimilar metals
The key to our success has been the extensive knowledge of our
workforce who are dedicated to delivering products to meet the specific
needs of our clients and the challenging environments in which they
operate.

Subsea Sensors Product Range
With Matre Instruments transducer electronics, a range of sensors are available.
Most interfaces and protocols used Subsea, e.g. 4-20 mA, CAN Open, RS485,
MODBUS and are available as single pressure, dual pressure and with or without
integrated single or dual temperature sensors.
Quartz Crystal Sensors are available as single pressure with integrated
temperature and differ from the rest of the sensor range as they are available with
a frequency output.

Subsea Sensors
These are Matre Instruments “High End” sensors and are based on DigiQuartz®
Pressure Sensing Technology where the excellent performance is achieved
through the use of a precision quartz crystal resonator whose frequency of
oscillation varies with pressure induced stress. Quartz crystals are chosen
because of their remarkable repeatability, low hysteresis and excellent stability.
Introduced to the Subsea Market in 1988 it has a well proven track record for it’s
superior quality and reliability. Sensors that have been deployed for more than a
decade and returned to Matre Instruments for calibration checks, show no
measurable stability drift.

Subsea Sensors
Based on a pressure sensing element where a thin-film full-bridge strain
gauge circuit is sputtered on to an all stainless-steel wetted surface
pressure diaphragm.
The sputtered metal strain gauge circuit offers superior long-term
stability and higher temperature capability than other resistor bridge
strain gauge technologies.

Subsea Sensors
The key component of these transmitters is a silicone sensor with a micro level
capacitance that is produced with micro machining technology.
These transmitters ensure highly precise measurements of differential pressure
which is then used to measure fluid flow and liquid levels.
A wide-range of models is available, all able to operate in high line pressures.
Introduced to the Subsea Market in 1998 it has a well proven track record for it’s
excellent quality and reliability.
