    ABSTRACT

An algorithm to solve the profit based unit commitment problem

using PSO technique has been planned to maximize the profit of

    GENCO.

When more number of generating units are brought online, more

power is generated and participated in deregulated environment.

The project focuses on the PSO technique to solve the profit based

unit commitment including Generation, Spinning reserve & Non

Spinning reserve as system constraints in the problem formulation.

The algorithm and simulation is planned to carry out usingMATLAB software

    FURTHERIMPLEMENTATION

    Executing the considered objective function

with constraints for a IEEE 30 Bus system using

    PSO tool box PHASE 1.

Using various PSO techniques such as Chaotic

PSO (CPSO), New PSO (NPSO) and Dis- persed

PSO (DPSO) the Objective function is executed

and the results are compared.- PHASE 2.
