Planning with CMAPP
• Establish a common planning separate from PLT time.• Plan UNITS of study, rather than just individual lessons.• Start by selecting the assessment tasks (formative and
summative) that will be used at the end & throughout the unit.
• Use lessons provided on CMAPP as a guide for curriculum content and instructional delivery.
• Discuss teaching strategies (the HOW) that will be used.• As a PLT, then discuss “who got it” and “who didn’t”
and “what we are going to do about it.”
Scavenger Hunt
• During your post-conference with a teacher that you observed, the teacher indicates that they need some support with how to implement the Daily Five in the classroom. “I’ve attended the training but I still need some help.”
• What resources can be found on CMAPP to support the teacher?
Scavenger Hunt
• Your 3rd grade team is planning for 2nd quarter instruction in ELA and they want to align the Read to Achieve Passages with their work.
• Where will they find the Read to Achieve Passage standards alignment?
Scavenger Hunt
• During 2nd quarter, you get a phone call from a parent complaining about the way division is being taught in 4th grade. She suggests that students should just learn to divide the way WE learned it. She states, “I cannot even help my child with his homework. I don’t know how to divide with base ten blocks.”
• What resources can you (or the teacher) use to communicate the expectations around the 4th grade division standard(s)?
Scavenger Hunt
• You have recently restructured PLTs in your building. The 2nd grade team is struggling to create common assessments and consistency in instructional practices. They tell you, “We don’t have time to do all of this work! It’s easier just to do our own thing!”
• What resources can you suggest they use to create consistency across the grade level?
