Today’s Gospel: John 10.27-30 Jesus said: “My sheep hear
my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them
eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch
them out of my hand. What my Father has given me is
greater than all else, and no one can snatch it out of the
Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”
“My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me.”
Jesus’ words in today’s Gospel give us that kind of warm
feeling we have when someone cares for us and is truly
interested in what is happening in our lives. Jesus tells of the
very personal and in%mate rela%onship that he has with us.
"As the Father knows me and I know the Father, in the same
way I know my sheep and they know me". Jesus describes
his rela%onship with us using the closeness and in%macy
that he and the Father share as an example of the personal
way he knows us and what is happening to us. However, we
can only know the close rela%onship of the Father, Son and
Holy Spirit in a limited way because our knowledge is very
incomplete so Jesus uses the descrip%on of the rela%onship
between a shepherd and his sheep. The image of the Good
Shepherd is one of love, care, protec%on, in%macy and
closeness. We don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but we
do know that we have a loving shepherd who knows us
in%mately and walks with us through the good and bad.

Vangelo di Oggi: Giovanni 10,27-30 In quel tempo, Gesù
cosa sola».
Le7er to SFA from the Archbishop The following is a le:er
from Archbishop Miller regarding our Gala. Dear Brothers
and Sisters in Christ: It is my pleasure to send warm gree, ngs
as you gather tonight for the Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic
Community Annual Gala. This event now bears witness to
your community’s commitment to providing a new facility for
St Francis of Assisi School, as well as an opportunity to
celebrate and enjoy fellowship with one another. God’s
faithfulness and the dedica,on of countless teachers,
parents and parishioners are the reason that SFA School has
thrived for more than seven decades of educa,ng mul,ple
genera, ons of Catholic children in East Vancouver. A new
building is now needed in order to con,nue this mission, and
I encourage everyone to be as generous as possible in
support of this vision. This exci,ng ,me presents a unique
opportunity to further solidify the special bond that the
School has within the Parish. May the good Lord guide and
bless you through the process of achieving your much-
needed new school! With best wishes and the assurance of
my prayers for you and for all those who call St Francis of
Assis Parish and School their home, I remain Sincerely yours
in Christ, J. Michael Miller, CSB Archbishop of Vancouver.
