May 20, 2018 Pentecost
We heard in the Gospel today, as we celebrate Pentecost Sunday, how the Risen Lord empowered His disciples with the Holy Spirit as He sent them on a mission. This reminds us that empowerment is from above and it is meant to be shared with others. Let us not forget the tremendous gift of the Risen Lord to us – His Holy Spirit. Pentecost is not only an event that happened once many years ago, but an on-going event in the here and now.
Therefore, let always open our hearts to
the promptings and inspiration of the Holy
Spirit as we continue our mission to tell the
world of God’s love.
Come Holy Spirit and Renew the Face
of the Earth! Amen.
From Fr. Steve

Star of the Sea: Social Ministry’s activities & ministries include: Peace & Justice, Social Outreach, Soup Kitchen, Migrant Ministry, Food Donation Drivers, Respect Life, Thanksgiving Baskets, Christmas Giving Tree, Sowers of Justice, Virginia Catholic Conference, and Sweet Blessings.
Peace & Justice: Continue to pray the Rosary! May all of us be filled with the Holy Spirit! Today’s feast day of Pentecost is, in many ways, a birthday celebration. With the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples, on that first Pentecost Sunday, Christ’s church was born. Pentecost reminds us through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit that our membership in God’s family is never meant to be self-serving or indulgent, but all about service, sacrifice, and love for one another. Some questions to reflect upon: Am I serving God through the power of the Holy Spirit? Am I exercising the gifts of the Spirit in my life, both in the gathered church and as I live for God in the world? May all of us be filled with the Holy
Spirit, live with Christ’s Peace, and
always know God’s love.
Social Outreach: The following items are always greatly appreciated as they are very helpful to the individuals and families that come to Social Outreach:
