19th Annual Rod Brind’Amour Cystic Fibrosis Golf Classic19th Annual Rod Brind’Amour Cystic Fibrosis Golf Classic, Dinner and Auction.

June 14th at Storey Creek Golf CourseIn it’s 19th year, the Rod Brind’Amour Golf Classic is the biggest Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser of the year. Funds are raised from sponsors and the auction. This year’s amazing platinum sponsors include Thrifty Foods, Steve Marshall Ford, RBC Dominion, Seymour Pacific, The Kinsman, Safety Net Security, Ed Rosse Plumbing and Heating, and the Courier Islander.

One of the major event sponsors, Thrifty Foods has been a long time supporter of the Rod Brind’Amour Classic. Thrifty Foods founder Alex Campbell has donated to the cause for over 20 years, and assisted in the creation of the original Golf Classic! Alex has been a major contributor to the Golf Classic dinner that follows the game, and each year is instrumental in collecting donations from three Thrifty Foods stores, Comox, Courtenay and Campbell River.

The popular Storey Creek Golf Course provide a magnificent venue, donating golf and equipment for tournament prizes. Storey Creek’s Manager, Kyle Stout, will tee off #17 hole with Rod Brind’Amour, and NHL players Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of the Edmonton Oilers, and Chad LaRose of the Carolina Hurricanes.

Over the years, local businesses and the Campbell River community have donated generously and shown unceasing support for the Cystic Fibrosis cause – last year’s Golf Classic raised $84,000!

The Classic Golf Dinner is catered by Quay West Restaurant at Sportsplex, and everyone is invited to attend. A great evening will be had, and there will be plenty of chances to meet with NHL players and Rod Brind’Amour.

To attend the Golf Dinner, tickets are available for $45 each. To purchase or donate, please contact Bev 250-287-8600.

Cancel any credit card balance protection insur-ance. Balance Protection Insurance is rarely funded and is a ploy of the banks to ensure that your credit card balance never goes down.

Replace any mortgage insurance purchase through your bank with life insurance purchased through a life insurance agent so that you have proper protection and are receiving good value for your money.

Stop using the balance from one card to pay the minimum payment on another. If that is the only way to make ends meet, meet with a Debt Relief Specialist to explore other options.

If you’ve been trying to get out of debt on your own and it’s not been working, get help!

Avoid any type of consolidation loan if it con-solidates only part of your debt.

If your minimum payments are greater than 15% of your net income, get debt help now.

Always make your minimum payments on time. Late payments cost more because you pay interest on the full balance owing even if you are only one day late.

Always keep your credit card below your credit limit; most credit cards have an over-limit fee.

Always pay more than the required minimum payment; if you make minimum only payments it may take you a lifetime to repay the debt. .

Avoid bankruptcy. There are many other options to explore before choosing to go bankrupt. A bankruptcy is a very serious decision that makes sense for very few people. Ask for a second opin-ion before making the decision to go bankrupt.

Avoid loans from friends and family unless they

After 35 years of marriage, a married couple came for counselling. When asked what the problem was, the wife went into a passionate tirade listing every problem they’d ever over the years: neglect, lack of intimacy, emptiness, loneliness, feeling unloved and unlovable, an entire list of un-met needs she had endured. After allowing this for a length of time, the therapist stood, walked around the desk and after asking the wife to stand, he kissed her passionately as her hus-band watched with a raised eyebrow.Silently the woman sat down. The ther-apist turned to the husband and said, “This is what your wife needs at least 3 times a week. Can you see to it?”“Well,” he said, “I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on Fridays, I go fi shing.”

Secrets Your Pet Won’t Tell You

Italian researchers found that dogs wag their tails slightly to the right when they see something they like and to the left when they’re confronted with something they want to back away from.Your favorite cat game to play with me involves a laser pointer. The result:I get really frustrated because I can’t catch it, and I live for the hunt. So if you’re going to use a pointer, please sub in an actual toy at the end so I have something to catch and kill. It makes the game worth it.

You’re giving me too much food. How can you tell? I don’t seem motivated by food treats when you’re trying to train me. Cut back, and I’ll start to pay attention.

To make dogs like me look fl uffy, shake a little cornstarch into the base of the fur and then brush. It will absorb oil and grease and detangle matted fur.

ANGELA Kroemer

Home AdviceFrom time to time, you are so close to qualifying for a mortgage to buy the house of your dreams. but you need a little more income to qualify. There are solutions. Please read on.

Child Tax Credit - not all lenders allow this, the ones that do will allow as long as child is under 12 years of age.
