MAY 2016 NEWSLETTER ese boots were made by my mentor, Jay Grith, for one of my clients. I was able to purchase the boots, and I treasure them as a memory of Jay and his legendary boot making design skills. My client, Joe, sold me the boots because he didn’t like the toe and heel style, and he’d rarely ever worn them as a result. Joe had requested a wide round toe and a low heel when he placed the order. When he went in to pick up the boots, Jay said, “Now Joe, I know these aren’t the boots you ordered, but these are the boots I thought you needed.” This is my interpretation of the design that Jay called “Peyote Flower.” I’ve named my version “If Heartaches Had Wings.” I’ve always wanted a belt buckle to be designed for this particular pair of boots. My friend Keith Seidel, a master saddlemaker, volunteered to do this for me, and he did a wonderful job! e customer who owns the boots featured above was the rst client to have the opportunity to purchase both the peyote ower boots and the matching buckle.

These boots were made by my mentor, Jay Griffith, for one of my clients. I was able to

purchase the boots, and I treasure them as a memory of Jay and his legendary boot

making design skills.

My client, Joe, sold me the boots because he didn’t like the toe and

heel style, and he’d rarely ever worn them as a result. Joe had

requested a wide round toe and a low heel when he placed the order. When he went in to pick

up the boots, Jay said, “Now Joe, I know these aren’t the boots you

ordered, but these are the boots I thought you needed.”

This is my interpretation of

the design that Jay called “Peyote

Flower.” I’ve named my version “If

Heartaches Had Wings.”

I’ve always wanted a belt buckle to be designed for this particular pair of boots. My friend Keith Seidel, a

master saddlemaker, volunteered to do this for me, and he did a wonderful job! The customer who owns the boots featured above was the first client to have the

opportunity to purchase both the peyote flower boots and the matching buckle.
