What a crazy time we are living through. Sure you all agree and I really don’t think there is an adjective worthy of de-scribing the Coronavirus Pandemic.
The center is of course still closed, and since I could not find a crystal ball on Amazon I can not say at this point when it will safely reopen. One thing I know for sure is it will HAVE to be SAFE, because that is all that matters.
I miss all of you wonderful people coming together to do things you enjoy, filling your time with productive social ac-tivities. And we will get back together again but it is im-portant to be patient and choose what matters, our safety.
I have talked to some of you and find it interesting how you are filling your time. My favorite is being outdoors, walking, or just sitting and taking in the fresh springtime air. It is such a lovely time of year and it’s wonderful that we have the environment to use to refresh and renew.
It seems like the measures we are all taking to stop the spread of the virus are working. We have not had any recent new cases in our county and hopefully that will continue to remain the same. I find it comforting to look at this and oth-er positive results of our isolation. We will always remember how much we miss each other and hopefully realize what really matters in life. That is, that we need each other, fami-ly, friends, community and Our Senior Center. We are blessed people and it’s important we never forget it!
May you all continue the good job staying safe and well. We really will get through this and possibly even have a greater appreciation of our active lives and those that are in it.
Happy Mother’s Day,
Donna

A Note From: Mary
Hello everyone!
Hope you are doing well during this challenging time we are
in. I've been keeping busy around the yard and doing some
house keeping. I'm bored as I'm sure you are too.
Can't wait to get back and see everyone! Miss you all!
Stay safe, we will be together again soon!

Hi Everyone! Needless to say I miss all of you. We are in week six since the building was closed, because of this Covid 19 pan-
demic. I certainly hope you are taking this situation seriously and are "Staying Home and Staying Safe." If you are going out to buy groceries, please, please, wear a mask to protect yourself and safe distance from others—six feet apart. You are "Our Most Precious Asset" at the center, so please take care of yourself. I don't mind telling you I am bored to tears, so it will be great to see you all again. Hopefully soon. Remember you are loved. Thanks and God Bless. Lynda
A Note From: Shari
Today is April 15 and as I’m writing this note of encourage-
ment to ‘YOU’ – every one of you that makes up the ‘WE’ of
the Senior Center.
I’m going to share my personal experience with this uninvit-
ed isolation… The first week it felt good to sit around and
not even get dressed until 10 in the morning, or maybe even
later some days. The second week I really started to get
antsy and I cleaned cupboards, and by the third week I want-
ed to pull my hair out and we changed furniture around! But
as time keeps crawling by – I just miss the family (who is call-
ing more often), my friends, which includes all of you that
makes up the senior center.
It has never been as clear to me as it is right now, that the
Senior Center is THE PEOPLE not the building. The building right now is a cold, dark
place with no life in it. YOU, my friends, bring the LIFE and the WARMTH into this
building.
We will get through this – and we will come back together, and I believe that we will be
forever changed in ways that strengthens the goodness of each and every ONE of US!
It’s not ME, it’s not YOU…it’s got to be WE!
I miss you!! Love, Shari

AND THAT’S “NO BULL!”
Howard Lee & Hans Timper ringed a yearling
Limousin bull in April. A copper/bronze bull ring
was used & it was approximately 3” in diameter.
A bull ring is used as a safety device if it becomes
necessary to control the bull. The bull ring is
placed through the nasal septum at the middle of
the noise. This septum is a very sensitive area, so a
tug on the bull ring will help control the animal, if
needed.
Hans has been raising Limousin beef cattle for 40+
years & have had as many as 25 cows, but now has
12 cows. Calves are born in the spring (April &
May). A few calves are shipped for auction at Cen-
tral Livestock Association (Zumbrota, MN) in the
fall, a few during the winter, & several are kept as
replacements yearly.
Typically, he uses 2 bulls for breeding purposes.
The bulls are normally 2 years and 1 year old in
April. They each have a ring in the nose. He rings
the bull when he is 1 year old and sells him when
he is 2 1/2 years old (fall of year). My experience is that a 2 year old bull Is normally not a prob-
lem, but can be a problem occasionally. I have only had 1 problem bull during all my years raising
beef cattle. That was 3 years ago. The bull was over protective of the cows and he would go out
of his way to attack a person. He was out of control and not afraid of anything. Nobody was able
to walk in the pasture that summer. I shipped the bull the end of October that year after breed-
ing season. It is better to be “safe than sorry” when dealing with bulls.
