Distance Learning Expectations: General Expectations: All students are expected to read for at least 20 minutes a day. In addition, we have provided daily activities in this packet that are geared toward keeping your students practicing essential second grade skills while also exposing them to new concepts that we have not yet covered (like measurement). We understand that many families may not be able to help their student at home with the packet. We have tried to make the work as independent as possible, but also understand that some students may not be getting all of the work done. That is ok. What is most important is that they are reading, practicing addition and subtraction math fluency facts, and trying their best. Technology: With the new addition of the iPad, we are including a supplemental Technology page with the goal of you using these supplements only if you want them for your student. Some Apps provide additional practice of routines, alternate explanations of materials, the opportunity to listen to the reading of the week, a route for submitting work for your teacher to see, and some are just plain old fun. Each day has an optional technology activity, indicated
by the symbol. All technology components are OPTIONAL except iReady Math or assignments from another teacher. Attendance: Teachers are required to take attendance each week. The only way for us to take attendance is through your response to phone or e-mail messages, or if your student turns in work on the iPad (see below). If there is no response, we are not able to take attendance for your student. Turning in Work: All students are expected to turn at least two pieces of work every week. Examples:
● responding to the prompt from your teacher on the TalkingPoints texting app ● use the iPad to take a picture of a journal entry and post it to their SeeSaw account ● Use the iPad to take a picture of their math work and post it to SeeSaw ● Use the iPad to do iReady
Expectativas de aprendizaje a distancia:
Expectativas generales: se espera que todos los estudiantes lean al menos 20 minutos al día. Daily Plan
Literacy and Writing: ❏ Read for at least 20 minutes each day. The best way to get better at reading is practice! ❏ In addition to reading each day, you will have other activities to help you practice your spelling, grammar, writing,
and comprehension skills. For many of these activities, you will need a “reading partner.” This can be a parent, sibling, or a stuffed animal to read the stories and your writing to.
❏ Writing BINGO - Choose a writing prompt from the Writing BINGO at the end of this packet to write in your journal or notebook. Good luck getting to BINGO! *use SeeSaw to take a picture of your writing so that your teacher can see!
Math: ❏ This week you will do Lesson 26, Add and Subtract on the Number Line, in your Math book, starting with the
parent letter on page 615. You will work on one session each day for 25 minutes. If you don’t get done in 25 minutes, that is okay. If you finish early, good for you! Take another activity break.
❏ Do 15 minutes of iReady each day. ❏ Play as many math games as you want!
P.E.: Do an activity from Coach Hassell each day. Music: See the letter from Mr. Church. Science: We will be more about materials by looking around for materials with different properties. Complete the “Material Properties” page in the packet and share it on SeeSaw or Talking Points.
Optional: Watch the Mystery Science video on SeeSaw called How are pencils made? Social Studies: None for this week. Speech-Language Practice (Optional for other students): This week, I will be listening to your class posts on Seesaw. Look for my comments back to you!

you can. This week’s HFW are: anything, children, anybody, instead, paper, person, voice, whole, woman, words. Example: if the HFW is city a sentence could be: I went to a big city to visit a museum.
