1 0310 THANKS BE TO GOD! With great joy we received the news that the Covid-19 restrictions have been eased. No more mask requirements (for those fully vaccinated), no sign up for mass, no physical distancing. Thanks be to God! Pentecost was filled with the Holy Spirit and a tremendous celebration at Resurrection. Thanks to All! It is great to see your beautiful, smiling faces. Although permission has been given for scheduling more “everything,” that does not mean that there will be an immediate schedule change. For now, we will continue with one Sunday mass at 9:30 a.m. It is clear that masses have been wonderful. All our ministers coming together with one assembly allows us an experience of the joy which the early church knew. This is how parish is meant to be. As I wrote in last week’s bulletin, “Additional Sunday masses grew out of necessity as the number of parishioners grew.” We at Resurrection are blessed that we have a vibrant worship space that can accommodate all who want to come (Fire Code capacity is 370). On a practical level, the church building has basically sat empty for more than a year. A lot of cleaning up (and emptying out years of “stuff") needs to happen before we will be ready to fully open for social gatherings and other opportunities. Bathrooms are to be remodeled, new carpet in the chapel, windows that open… Hopefully summer will be a chance to get our “house" in order. We begin the summer season giving thanks to God whose love has brought us through an historically traumatic time. May we continue to learn from this experience of restrictions and tragedy. May we remember to focus our hearts on the things that matter most, to let go of the things that really aren’t so important (to accept the things we cannot change) and to see the world, and each person in it, as a sign of God’s continual presence among us. THANKS BE TO GOD!

LITURGY

We are excited to share that the Diocese of Wilmington has issued guidelines for returning to pre-pandemic practices. These will guide the steps we take at Resurrection to meet the needs of

our community at this time. Beginning Pentecost Sunday,

We will eliminate the requirement to register for Mass.

We will increase chairs in the Worship Space consistent with 3 ft. social distancing.

Consistent with CDC guidelines, masks are optional for fully vaccinated people.

As we enter the summer period, we will take the next few weeks to understand the community's needs and determine our Mass schedule and other needs for operating the Parish.

With re-opening, we are pausing our weekly video liturgy as we reconsider our outreach to all of our members, including those unable to attend Mass in-person on Sunday.

Join the Liturgy Environment Team

In our Pentecost liturgy, Fr. Greg spoke of the many gifts in our community and invited each of us to think about sharing our gifts. Will you share your gifts with our Resurrection community by helping the Environment Team? We have many

opportunities to serve ranging from watering plants to helping to "recreate" the worship space for each liturgical season. Perhaps you have a green thumb, or can arrange flowers? Maybe you can help move things around or hang banners? Maybe you're looking for an opportunity to serve together as a family? Time commitment can be as little as one hour a week. Contact Cindy Mooney 302-893-8891 for information.

PARISH LIFE

The Christ Figure

Our beloved artist, Henry Krysiak, passed in 2019. But he left us works of his art that continue to bring beauty to our parish: The “Resurrection” sign out front (Henry created the font and cut the metal letters himself), the stained-glass windows in the chapel, and the Corpus on the front Tower. Henry’s vision for that piece is that the metal bands “opening up” are a sign of the resurrection, of Christ’s breaking free from death.

Henry also left us instructions on how to continue to care for the Corpus. Henry kept detailed journals which were bound into book form, one for each decade of his life. Henry lived to be 98 so that’s a lot of history! His instructions for the Corpus include a “painting schedule.” The Corpus was installed on April 20, 1984. It was repainted in 1999, 2005, and 2014. His recommendation is that the Corpus be painted in 2020 (sorry Hank, the pandemic interfered!). If anyone would like to participate in this project, please let us know. We will provide the paint and tools (Henry has given us the exact paint and color). Henry requests that the figure be given three additional coats when it is repainted. Prayer Chain If you have prayer requests, or are interested in being a member of the Prayer Chain, please contact Anita Delaney at [email protected]
