Beautification Foundation to meet Wednesday, May 14th It’s simple. You donate money, the board saves it forever, and once a year the board takes only the interest earned and beautifies the Glasgow area. We take care of those needed items, there is no other source of funding for benches, picnic tables, paint, supplies, etc. If persons or organizations can supply the labor, the fund will purchase the supplies. Your treasurer’s report this year is as follows: Held in trust, never to be spent, is $44,338.03. The money is currently kept in a one-year c.d. This year $1,541 is available for beautification projects. If you think this is a worthwhile foundation, please help us build our fund so we can do more projects. If you or your organization has a project that needs funding, for the betterment of beautification around the Glasgow area, call any board member our come to the next meeting. It will be held in the dining room of the Cottonwood’s Willows Restaurant at noon on Wednesday, May 14th. FRIDAYPolish & Kraut

I’ve got to say, today has been bittersweet. My husband went off to work today. Truly a monumental moment since he became sick last September. I’ve waited for the day that I could have the house to myself during the day. Couldn’t WAIT for things to get back to “normal”. You must understand, when your spouse goes from accepting a Top Cop award from the President himself at the White House, to lying in the ICU in quarantine and dying because no one knows what it wrong with him...it does something to you as a wife. Your big strong hero is fighting for his life. And you can’t do a damn thing to help him. Other than be there. And YOU have to be the strong one even though you feel like crawling in a hole somewhere and hiding. And he gets out of the hospital. But he is still so sick and you can’t leave his side. He needs you too much. The recovery is so slow. And never will be complete because of the severity of his sickness...but you press on, hoping, praying, taking it day by day and wondering if it will ever go back to “normal”. He still isn’t 100%. But he is close to as good as he will get. And he needed something to occupy his time. So, he started a job. And today, I got exactly what I was wishing for....a nice quiet house. And yet I sat here. All day. Wishing he was here. Ironic isn’t it?! And I didn’t accomplish ANYTHING that I thought I would because I didn’t know HOW to do my job without his constant interruptions and need requests..... I am happy for him. Happy that he has his independence back. But, I found that caring for

him made ME dependent on HIM! And now I have time on my hands, time which was spent wrapped up in taking care of him....and in a strange way, I feel a “loss” because he doesn’t need me the way he did when he was sick. It’s definitely an adjustment. And one that will take time. I am thrilled he is better. But now the dynamics have changed again. But I vowed to love him and stick by him “for better or worse” and for now, our worse is over....I need to learn how to function again in the “better”. Bear with me! I love you William J. Soper. And I am so happy for you even though I miss you when you are gone. I miss you interrupting me and bugging me when I am working. I miss everything. But I am so happy for you even though I am learning how to be less of a caregiver to you. I prayed for this moment and it is now here. And I will adjust and survive. I love you more than the first time I said “I love you”. And I am proud of you! And I must thank Suzanne Soper for being right beside me through all of it. You were and still are indispensable and you have NO idea how much you helped me keep it together...and took care of things when I was losing it. And you did it even when YOU were losing it because your son was dying. THANK YOU.

And all of the calls, cards, well wishes from people whom I never thought would give a rat’s ass about my husband. What’s ironic is most of them were people my husband had dealt with while he was a cop... in a “professional” manner. People he had cited or people he had even arrested. But they called. And they offered their support and condolences and asked what they could do to help. And it truly blows me away. And speaks volumes for my husband’s ethics and character as an officer of the law. He is truly a Top Cop if his former “subjects” are coming to his aid. THANK YOU! I am so glad he is on his way back to being who he is. Truly a monumental moment in his recovery! And so awesome because TOMORROW is his birthday and I am SO GLAD he can celebrate with us and be with us and move on back to being the husband and father and amazing member of the Valley County community that he is. Special thanks to the community of Opheim for rallying behind him and sending all the well wishes! We kept ALL of the cards and are overwhelmed with appreciation for all of you! As well as the community of Glasgow & Nashua. You all have blessed us more than you will ever know and we will not forget it, ever! I love you Bill and I am so happy for you! Even though it sucks for me! (LOL) ~ Angie Soper
