This Track Is Currently Available in Anesthesiology,Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology;Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics,Otorhinolaryngology, Pathology, Pediatrics,Surgery, and Urology.
OBJECTIVEMayo recognizes the importance of training physician-scientists for the future of medicine. The
objective of the Clinician-Investigator Program is to provide clinical and research training for a smallnumber of carefully selected, recent M.D.-Ph.D. or M.D. graduates who wish to prepare for careers asclinician-investigators.
STRUCTUREToward this objective, the programs have been designed to include clinical
training in each specialty and 2 years of research training. Those whosatisfactorily complete the program will be board eligible in the respectivespecialties and subspecialties and will have the foundation upon which todevelop independent research.
ACADEMIC CURRICULUMThe curriculum includes seminars and didactic courses in the
cellular and quantitative aspects of medicine. Trainees completeadvanced courses relevant to their area of research.
ADVISORSClinician-investigator trainees are assigned both a clinical and
a research advisor to help plan and guide their progress.
ADMISSIONApplicants should apply for residencies and indicate at that
time their interest in the Clinician-Investigator Program.
