Mayor and City Council
Mission Statement: “The Mission of the City of Fort Stockton Municipal Government is to
Promote & Value Public Confidence and Trust by the Accountable and Responsible Use of
Community Resources; to Ensure Public Safety; Improve Public Services; Promote Local
Recreation and Entertainment; and Generate Economic Development.
A Message From
Councilman Mike Ureta:
All to often individuals become embroiled in politics and lose
sight of something far more im-portant, public service. As city
officials and employees we should have an instinct for public service and know it is not always about the bottom line, but rather
what is best for the people. I commend all city officials and employees for the service they pro-vide, particularly those who place public service above politics. A public servant must be honest,
tell the truth and always do what he/she says they are going to do.

Meet our Parks and Cemetery
Departments
The parks and cemetery departments strive to
maintain and improve the cemetery and parks of
the city. The parks department makes its best
effort to provide diverse leisure opportunities
for the community by providing safe, well-
maintained, clean parks and public places while
enhancing a healthy lifestyle. The cemetery de-
partment makes every effort to offer a welcom-
ing site to bereaved families by maintaining the
grounds of the cemetery. Marcos Tovar, Parks
and Cemetery Foreman, has been with the City
of Fort Stockton for 3 1/2 years. The parks and
cemetery department consists of 7 total em-
ployees.
