Head Coach - Ed [email protected]

Coach Bailey is in his sixth year of his second tenure coaching the Jayhawk Volleyball Team. He previously was coach of the Jayhawks from 1989-1993. Coach Bailey also has 19 years of high school volleyball coaching experience, most notably with Holton High School that culminated in a 1993 Class C State Runner-Up and a 1994 Class C State Championship. Coach Bailey graduated with a B.A. in History and Psychology from Western Michigan University and an M.A. in Educational Leadership from WMU.He is recently retired from public education where he spent 34 years as a teacher, administrator, and curriculum coordinator. He is presently employed by WMU as an Intern Teacher Coordinator and at Baker College where he teaches History, Psychology, Political Science, and Education Classes along with being a Student Teacher Coordinator.Coach Bailey has two grown sons Ed and Dan and resides in Muskegon with his wife Suella and their two Golden Retrievers, Maggie and Mollie.

Assistant Coach - Rick Rykse Rick Rykse begins his 1st season as the assistant coach at Muskegon Community College. For the past four years Rick was the head coach at Davenport University where he started the volleyball program in 2006 and added a JV team in 2009. Prior to coaching at Davenport Rick was the head coach at Ravenna High School from 2001-2005 where he led them to 4 district titles, 3 regional titles, and two state final appearances. Rick also is the club director and coach for Inside Out Juniors Volleyball Club and is the president/general manager of the Midwest Professional Volleyball Association beach tour. Rick is married to Amy Rykse and they have three boys, Adam, who goes to Michigan State University, and Zach and Alex who both attend Reeths Puffer High School. Their family resides in Muskegon.
