JANET HALE, Senior Lecturer of Business Law, was invited to participate in the Academic Advisory Committee of the United Nations PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) Secretariat. 20. e Texas State chapter of the ASSOCIATION OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROFESSIONALS (AITP) and the Department of Computer Information Systems & Quantitative Methods hosted 500 students representing 20 high schools at the 2015 High School Symposium in October. AF COLONEL DAVID W. SNODDY, San Antonio joint bases, presented the keynote address. In April, 22 chapter members attended the 2016 AITP National Collegiate Conference. Out of 66 universities represented, Texas State was awarded the Best Chapter Overall and 2nd place out of 41 teams in the Network Design Competition. e AITP faculty advisors are MR. KEVIN JETTON AND DR. DAVID WIERSCHEM. 21. e Department of Accounting hosted a MEET THE FIRMS event in fall 2015. Representatives from 38 firms, government agencies and other professional organizations met with 157 accounting majors. A spring CAREER FAIR was attended by 30 CPA firms and companies with 150 students participating. 22. Ten faculty members in the McCoy College participated in FACULTY EXTERNSHIP PROGRAMS offered at Hunting Subsea Technologies, Planto Roe Financial Services, Priority Personnel, Total Quality Logistics and USAA. 23. DR. FLOYD QUINN, Lecturer of Management, DR. BRIAN MILLER, Associate Professor of Management, and DR. DEBBIE THORNE, Associate Vice President, Academic Affairs, and Professor of Marketing, earned the 2016 AMERCIAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATORS JEROME L. NEUNER AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN PROFESSIONAL-SCHOLARLY PUBLICATION for their 2015 article “Diversity Management and Public Orientation as Predictors of Service Orientation in Higher Education.” A 2016 Special Issue of the Journal of Marketing eory and Practice featured a 2007 article co-authored by DR. JEREMY SIERRA, Associate Professor of Marketing, and Dr. Shaun McQuitty, Athabasca University, entitled “Attitudes and Emotions as Determinants of Nostalgia Purchases: An Application of Social Identity eory” as one of the journal’s top 20 cited articles in the last decade. 24. Texas State NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BLACK ACCOUNTANTS (NABA) sent 17 members to the 2015 Southwest Western Regional Conference. VALERIE AMADI, chapter president, delivered the student address to over 300 attendees. SIERRA WRIGHT won one of 10 scholarships. MS. 13. The Texas State ENACTUS/STUDENTS IN

FREE ENTERPRISE (SIFE) team placed in the Elite Eight at the 2016 ENACTUS US

NATIONAL EXPOSITION IN ST. LOUIS, MO. Texas State teams have an impressive record of three national, one world and 17 regional champtionship awards, plus multiple topic specific and individual awards. MS. VICKI WEST is the faculty advisor for the team.

14. In FY15, the Texas State SMALL BUSINESS

DEVELOPMENT CENTER (SBDC) served 548 clients; provided 4,809 hours of client assistance; and presented 50 professional business seminars, workshops and conferences. It helped create 510 jobs and save 540 jobs through 54 business startups and 66 business expansions. The center provided training for more than 1,250 participants and facilitated more than $50.6 million of capital infusion to qualified businesses.

15. Drs. David Camerson and Dennis Smart, Department of Management, and Ms. Cara Frederick, Outreach Coordinator, developed 24 UNIQUE BUSINESS RESEARCH

AND CONSULTING FIELD PROJECTS for MBA students enrolled in MGT 5313. Teams of three to five students worked with representatives to address organization-defined issues. Clients included Austin Chamber of Commerce, Central Texas Medical Center, Chosen,

Only 183 out of 761 accredited institutions worldwide maintain a specialized AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs.

2. McCoy College student HAYDEN PAYNE was named as the 2016 LBJ

OUTSTANDING SENIOR STUDENT. He graduated with a B.B.A. in finance and management with a concentration in entrepreneurial studies. A first generation college student, Payne was a Terry Foundation Scholar and a McCoy College Student Managed Investment Fund team member.

3. The Texas State chapter of BETA GAMMA

SIGMA (BGS), the honor society for accredited schools of business, inducted 203 students in 2015-2016. MR. RICK

4. DR. JAMES LESAGE, the Jerry D. and Linda Gregg Fields Endowed Chair in Urban and Regional Economics, was listed 12TH

AMONG THE TOP 50 US AUTHORS in the area of Regional Science. He also was the keynote speaker at the 15th International Workshop on Spatial Econometrics and Statistics held in Orleans, France, in May 2016.

THE McCOY COLLEGE OF BUSINESS

ADMINISTRATION fosters an engaged learning community that prepares a diverse student population for successful business careers as responsible global citizens. The College complements these efforts with research that adds to knowledge, provides solutions to business challenges, and contributes to pedagogical advances. We offer undergraduate majors in accounting, computer information systems, economics, finance, management, and marketing. At the graduate level, we offer the master of business administration, master of accountancy, master of science in accounting and information technology, and master of science in human resource management degrees. The following 25 points of pride reflect a sample of our accomplishments in the 2015-2016 academic year and our commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.

5. The Texas State AMERICAN MARKETING

ASSOCIATION (AMA) chapter placed second in the AMA Collegiate Case Competition at the International AMA Collegiate Conference in March 2016. Texas State was one of 10 finalists out of 123 entries. This is the tenth year that the chapter has advanced to the finalist round. DR. GAIL

ZANK is the faculty advisor for the case competition team.

6. McCoy College continues to work with the business community to offer INTERNSHIP opportunities for students. The total number of internships in the college for 2015-2016 was 336 with 284 undergraduate and 52 graduate students participating. In addition, two professional sales students participated in GLOBAL SALES INTERNSHIPS with UPS in Barcelona, Spain, during the summer.

7. DR. TAHIR EKIN, Assistant Professor in Quantitative Methods, was named the BRANDON DEE ROBERTS EXCELLENCE

PROFESSOR; DR. JANA MINIFIE, Professor of Management, was named the BARSHOP

EXCELLENCE PROFESSOR IN

ENTREPRENEURSHIP; and DR. JEREMY

SIERRA, Associate Professor in Marketing, was named the STEPHEN R. GREGG, SR.

EXCELLENCE PROFESSOR. Each is appointed for a three-year term.

8. MR. ROD C. KELLER, JR, was recognized as a TEXAS STATE DISTINGUISHED ALUMNUS in fall 2015. Mr. Keller is a partner with Allen Austin and the former president of Segway, Inc. He is an accomplished executive with domestic and international experience in sales and marketing. A recipient of the Technology Marketer of the Year award by Technology Marketing magazine, he also serves as a member of the McCoy College of Business Advisory Board.

9. The Texas State AMERICAN ADVERTISING

FEDERATION team placed first in the National Student Advertising Conference (NSAC) for District 10. The NSAC Case challenge was for Snapple. Additionally, HECTOR SIFUENTES, won the best presenter award. The AAF McCoy College faculty advisor is DR. RICK WILSON.

10. The 2016 BUSINESS LEADERSHIP WEEK focused on the theme Business Beyond Borders. Over 4,300 students participated in 41 events that included keynote speaker MR. BERNARDO ALTAMIRANO RODRIGUEZ, CEO of the Better Business Bureau of Mexico; distinguished speaker MR. LARRY

JACKSON, VP of Supply Chain Operations for Fluor Corporation; and an Executive Leadership Panel with MR. MARK CURRY,

Community Bank President, Wells Fargo Bank; MR. DANIEL GUERRERO, Mayor, City of San Marcos; and MS. YAMILE JACKSON,

CEO of Nurtured by Design. The week also included a mini-case competition sponsored by Bloomberg Businessweek, an international business panel and an interactive fair.

11. DR. K. MICHELE KACMAR, the Jerry D. and Linda Gregg Fields Chair in Ethics and Corporate Responsibility, is the 2016 recipient of the THOMAS A. MAHONEY

MENTORING AWARD, given by the Human Resources Division of the Academy of Management. The award honors Dr. Kacmar for her extensive work mentoring Ph.D. students. In addition, Dr. Kacmar was named as the 2016 PRESIDENT of the Southern Management Association.

12. MBA student JOHN ATKINSON was a 2015 recipient of a TEXAS BUSINESS HALL OF

FAME $15,000 scholarship. Atkinson holds a bachelor of science degree in computer science and is currently a senior project manager with Q2ebanking.

16. DR. BILL CHITTENDEN, Associate Dean for Graduate Programs, was elected as the PRESIDENT of the Academy of Financial Services for 2015. DR. IVILINA POPOVA, Associate Professor of Finance, was appointed as the ASSOCIATE EDITOR for Journal of Commodity Markets.

17. THE CENTER FOR ENTREPRENEURIAL

ACTION (CEA) hosted two 3 day startup (3DS) programs in 2015-2016. Approximately 140 participants joined 17 industry mentors and three judges for an intensive weekend workshop. Nine student startup ideas resulted from the event. The second annual MATT AND JODI EDGAR TEXAS STATE

UNDGRADUATE BUSINESS PLAN

COMPETITION was held in April. Out of 26 entries, 14 were invited to the second stage of competition – submitting an expanded business plan. Teams competed for $7,000 in prize money.
