Ms. Oliphint came to Texas State Univeristy from the City
University of New York, Borough of Manhattan Community
College where she served as Director of E-learning. She has
worked in online and distance education at public higher
education institutions for 18 years. Ms. Oliphint worked to
transform BMCC’s program through the adoption and
implementation of effective practices for e-learning based
on Online Learning Consortium’s (OLC) five pillars for quality.
Ms. Oliphint taught undergraduate and graduate courses for
seven years in the Educational Technology Department at
New Jersey City University. She also taught courses on digital
storytelling and the flipped classroom for OLC. Her areas of
expertise also include general education technology, online
pedagogy, e-portfolios, e-learning program assessment,
strategic growth and planning for online learning, as well as
innovative uses of technology to improve student learning
outcomes and persistence.
Ms. Oliphint has written and/or managed several multi-year
grant projects including a Title III Strengthening Institutions
federal grant, as well as serving as Principle Investigator on a
Title V Hispanic Serving Institutions federal grant to build
and assess e-learning programs.
Ms. Oliphint is currently in the dissertation phase of her PhD
program in Urban Education, Policy and Leadership at the
City University of New York Graduate Center. Her research is
focused on an array of online learning topics including
learning outcomes assessment and quality assurance in
online education.
Ms. Oliphint will be serving as the new Faculty
Advisor for the Department of Occupational,
Workforce, and Leadership Studies (BAAS). For

CCS include brief individual, group, and couples counseling,
consultation and crisis response, and workshops about coping
with stress and other mental health topics. Services are free
and confidential to currently enrolled Texas State students.
Each year, Financial Aid and Scholarships help over 25,000 Bobcats finance their education. A variety of assistance including grants, work-study, student and parent loans, scholarships and nonresident tuition and fee waivers are available. Regardless of your financial resources, attending Texas State is possible. Scholarship applications are available at the following website: finaid.txstate.edu/scholarships. American Association on Health and Disability (AAHD) is accepting applications for its 2016-17 Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability. Which is awarded annually to deserving students with disabilities who are pursuing graduate studies. To be eligible, applicants must be US citizens or legal residents living in the United States. The scholarship has an application deadline of NOVEMBER 15, 2016. Go to their website, aahd.us/initiatives/scholarship-program/ for more information and to apply.
**SPRING 2017** Registration to submit Spring 2017 online certification requests for both GI Bill and
Hazelwood became available on October 6.
Registration for benefits should be completed

Texas law requires every person seeking educator certification to
perform satisfactorily on comprehensive exams. The purpose of
these exams is to ensure that each educator has the necessary
content and professional knowledge to perform effectively in
