Our Marple Grimpeurs on the 5 Wednesdays in August were again well supported, with a record 80 entries for the White Peak (although only 55 rode, which is still a record). We can cope with these numbers - and more! Gerry Goldsmith suffered a stroke just before her event (the Staffs Peak) but we were able to take overs at the last minute, thanks to Chris who was able to look after the start, and Mike who was at the finish and able to look after the validation (Gerry continues to recover and was well enough to lead a CTC tour in Corsica only a couple of weeks later, albeit as a passenger in the

support vehicle, but she still managed some cycling).

A new event from Broken Cross was the World’s End 200 with 30 riders. John Perrin runs the 3 Loops of Cheshire this Sunday (at which I broke my wrist!).

b) Bury: usual weekly club runs with some new people joining in

c) Oldham & Tameside: usual weekly club runs. Kath is back riding with the group.

d) West Manchester: usual weekly club runs. The Beard Cup went very well, with good weather and a larger entry than in recent years. Thanks to Ian and Mavis and all their helpers.

5) Future Events

Peak Audax events from Cheadle, as detailed in Cycle and at www.ManchesterCTC.co.uk
