• A virtual reporting mechanism supporting the interregionalarchitecture defined by the Yaoundé Code of Conduct.
• Contributes to the safety of mariners, of regional and globalshipping, and supports regional economies.
• Maintains coherent maritime situational awareness in the Centraland Western African maritime space, with the ability to inform,warn and support industry, contributing to the safety and security ofthe mariner.
• All vessels are encouraged to report to the MDAT-GoG using theexisting reporting formats.– These can be found on SHOM Chart 8801CSD, or UKHO Chart Q6114, dated 30
June 2016, to allow them to report their vessels when transiting the revisedVoluntary Reporting Area (VRA).

incident occurring. This phone number is monitoredpermanently and allows the MDAT-GoG to enable theirregional contacts.

1. Category: Attempted Boarding
2. Description: On 23th May 2018 at 2310UTC. MV reported an attempted boarding in psn 06-15.9N 003-12.2E (Lagos anchorage) Intruder was sighted on deck, crew raised alarm and intruder jumped overboard and escaped in a skiff. Crew and ship are SAFE.

Warning 003/MAR/2018
1. Category: POSSIBLE ATTACK IN PROGRESS
2. Description: On 27th March 1600Z UTC 2018 two fishing vessels are reported to be under attack in position 04°10’N – 002°19’E (100nm South of Cotonou, BENIN).
Mariners are advised to exercise extreme caution in this area.

INCIDENT DISPOSITION IN THIS ISSUE
OVERVIEW MDAT – GoG reports are primarily based upon information sent by vessels using the Voluntary Reporting scheme. Masters and CSOs are encouraged to report as early as possible, events or sightings with as much detail as possible to allow MDAT-GOG to initiate the appropriate response. Sometimes incomplete reports cause delay to the issue of warnings and our ability to contact Local Navy assets for assistance. Masters are requested to call MDAT-GoG (+33 298 228888) at the time of any incident occurring. This phone number is monitored permanently (24/7). It is requested the Masters contact MDAT-GoG as soon as possible to facilitate quicker actions by the MDAT-GoG and their regional contacts. Details can be found on SHOM Chart 8801CSD or UKHO Chart Q6114, 30 June 2016, to allow them to report their vessels when transiting the revised Voluntary Reporting Area (VRA), also described on both security charts with the MDAT-GOG, using the email address [email protected] Companies / Ships Exercises: MDAT-GOG would like to extend an invitation to Companies / CSOs to be included in Company led exercises/drills. and fired at it in PSN 0351.2N

MV2 ATTEMPTED BOARDING0640 UTC –
Unknown number of skiffs approached
vessel. Skiffs fired shots at MV and
attempted to board using hooks.
MV3 ATTACKED0755 UTC – Pirates boarded vessel and broke down doors. Crew mustered in
Citadel.
0414 UTC – MV 1 call from vessel stating they were under attack in PSN. 0351.2N 00646.8E. No further information gained.0440 UTC – Details of attack confirmed 1 skiff approached on Starboard side –Skiff Fired on vessel. Vessel carried out evasive manoeuvres.0445 UTC – Warning 003 issued (informing all vessels of Attack)0525 UTC – See and Avoid carried out (10nm) – 0540 UTC – MV 1 confirmed safe.
0755 UTC – MV3 under attack in PSN 0341N 00646E – phone call received from Master and SSAS alert.0800 UTC – MOC Bonny Informed.0815 UTC – See and Avoid for MV3 expanded to warn vessels in the area about MV3.0853 UTC – WARNING 005 issued. (informing all vessels of Attack)0900 UTC – Confirmed by CSO that pirates have boarded vessel.
0640UTC – MV 2 under attack in PSN 0345N 00704E. Unknown number of skiffs approached. Shots fired and attempted boarding using hooks. Hijacking Failed.0745 UTC – See and Avoid carried out (50nm) 0800 UTC Warning 004 issued. (informing all vessels of Attack)
