1.1 Functions of StoragePlus

PrincipleStoragePlus is an application for long-term archiving of various data of the process control system SIMATIC PCS 7:

● WinCC archive data

● WinCC reports

● Archived batch data

The data is managed in a central database. StoragePlus must be installed on a separate computer.

This data is provided independently of the runtime systems. This enables you to view all the data clearly via the Internet Explorer.


ComponentsStoragePlus comprises the following software components:

● StoragePlus Administrator Console

● StoragePlus View Editor

● StoragePlus WebViewer

The StoragePlus Administration Console is used to configure the StoragePlus system. The StoragePlus Administration Console is used to control access to archives, for example. Furthermore, you can manage user access rights and view objects in the StoragePlus Administration Console.

View objects are displayed in the StoragePlus WebViewer. View objects are views of StoragePlus data. The view objects are created using the StoragePlus View Editor.

Alarms and measured values can be output as a table. In addition, you can also display the measured values as trends. Integrated filter functions allow you to limit the display to certain data.

Tabular measured values can be exported into an XML or CSV file. This file can then be processed further in other Windows applications, such as Microsoft Excel.

Note

Do not operate a PCS 7 project or WinCC project on a computer on which StoragePlus is installed.

GeneralNo underscores should be used in the name for the server computer. If an underscore is used, you may experience problems when you attempt to access data with the StoragePlus WebViewer. You can find the name of the server computer in the Windows Control Panel under "System" on the Network Identification tab (Windows 2003) or the Computer Name tab (Windows XP). Change the name of the server computer before installing StoragePlus.

1.3 Installation

1.3.1 Installation

Introduction You must install additional software components in order to operate StoragePlus.

Note

Always follow the installation sequence described below. Problems may otherwise arise during installation.

1.3.2 Installing Internet Information Services (IIS) and Message Queuing Service

IntroductionStoragePlus uses the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) and Message Queuing Service. These components are an integral part of the operating system.

MS Message Queuing ServiceHowever, MS Message Queuing is not included in the default setup of the Windows OS and must be installed separately as required.

Internet Information Services (IIS)● When using Windows XP, the Internet Information Services (IIS) must be installed.

● When using Windows Server 2003, the Internet Information Services (IIS) must be configured as a server function. More information is available under "Configuring the Server Function for Windows 2003".

Note

To install the Internet Information Service in Windows, you must have the necessary write access rights to the registry database. To do this, you must have administrator rights.

Under Windows XP1. In the Start menu of the operating system, select the menu command "Settings > Control

Panel > Software".

2. Click the "Add/Remove Windows Components" button on the left menu bar.The Windows Components wizard opens.

3. Select the "Internet Information Services (IIS)" component.

4. Select the "Message Queuing" component.The "Details" button is activated.

5. Click "Details".The "Message Queuing" dialog box opens.

6. Select the "Common" check box.

7. Clear all other check boxes, and click "OK".The "Data Storage Medium" dialog box opens.

8. Insert the requested Windows Installation CD and click "OK".This installs Message Queuing.

9. Click the "Finish" button.This closes the wizard.



Under Windows Server 20031. In the Start menu of the operating system, select the menu command "Settings > Control

Panel > Software".

2. Click the "Add/Remove Windows Components" button on the left menu bar.The Windows Components wizard opens.

3. Select the "Application Server" component, and then click "Next".The "Application Server" dialog box opens.

4. Select the "Message Queuing" component.The "Details" button is activated.

5. Click "Details".The "Message Queuing" dialog opens.

6. Select the "Common Components" check box.

7. Clear all other check boxes, and click "OK".The "Data Storage Medium" dialog box opens.

8. Insert the requested Windows Installation CD and click "OK".This step installs Message Queuing.

9. Close the wizard by clicking "Apply".

1.3.3 Configuring the Server Function for Windows 2003

IntroductionWhen using Windows Server 2003, the server function ( IIS, ASP.NET) also needs to be configured.

Procedure1. In the Start menu of the operating system, select the menu command "Settings > Server

Configuration Wizard".The "Server Configuration Wizard" opens.

2. Click "Next". The dialog box opens.

3. No settings are necessary in this dialog box. Click "Next". The dialog box opens.

4. Under "Server Function", select the "Application Server" component, and then click "Next". The dialog box opens.



5. Select the "Activate ASP.NET" check box. Click "Next".

6. Follow the instructions on the screen.

1.3.4.1 How to Install StoragePlus

Introduction This section describes how you install StoragePlus.

The components already installed are displayed during setup. The following symbols are used:

Symbol Meaning

Current version of program is installed.

Program is being updated.

Program setup requirements are not met.

Program can be selected.

Program selected for installation.

Program cannot be selected (due to dependence on other programs).

Program selected for installation (cannot be deselected).

Requirements● Administrator rights are available.

● Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) and Message Queuing are installed and configured.

● No underscores should be used in the name for the server computer. If an underscore is used, you may experience problems when you attempt to access data with the StoragePlus WebViewer. You can find the name of the server computer in the Windows Control Panel under "System" on the Network Identification tab (Windows 2003) or the Computer Name tab (Windows XP). Change the name of the server computer before installing StoragePlus.



Procedure1. Start the PCS 7 Product DVD.

2. Follow the instructions on the screen.Read the License Agreement and the Open Source License Agreement.

3. Select the setup mode. Select the program package "StoragePlus" for the package installation under Options.The components to be installed are highlighted in Setup. For a description of the displayed symbols, click "Help". Select the scope of your installation in User-defined installation.

4. Read the license agreement for the Microsoft SQL Server.This opens the "Select installation folder" dialog box.

5. Enter the path for the installation.The dialog with the installation settings opens.

6. Enter the database name and the installation directory for the database.You can select any suitable database name. We recommend that you accept the proposed name.When your computer has more than one driver, we recommend separate directories on separate drives for the "Database installation path" and the "Log installation path". Example:

– For the "Database installation path": D:\Storage

– For the "Log installation path": E:\Storage."

7. Click "Continue" and follow the instructions that appear on screen.The components of StoragePlus will be installed.



ResultWhen the installation of the StoragePlus application is complete, the Start menu of the operating system contains a new folder in the "SIMATIC" program group. You can use the folder to start the StoragePlus Administration Console, the StoragePlus Web application and the StoragePlus View-Editor.

1.3.4.2 How to Install the License Key

Introduction You need a license key to use StoragePlus. This is provided on a data medium. Common data media are floppy disks (up to StoragePlus V1.2) and USB sticks (as of StoragePlusV1.3).

Note

The so-called authorizations, which represent the license in older versions of the software packages, cannot be stored on a USB stick.

Procedure1. In the Start menu, click "Automation License Manager".

2. Insert the license data medium and select the corresponding drive in the Automation License Manager.The license keys on the data medium are displayed.

3. Select the license key for StoragePlus.

4. In the shortcut menu of the license key, click "Transfer...".This closes the "Transfer License Key" dialog box.

5. Select the destination drive and click "OK".

ResultThe license key is written to the destination drive in directory "AX NF ZZ".

Note

You can move the license keys using drag-and-drop.

CAUTION

Make sure that the data medium is not write-protected.



1.3.4.3 How to Adapt the System Performance

Use of virus scannersA virus scanner must not be activated while StoragePlus is running. The scanning operation can adversely affect the performance of StoragePlus.

Changing process priority

Changing system performance for programs with Windows 2003 and Windows XP1. Activate "System properties" > "Extended" > "System performance" > "Settings" >

"Expanded" > "Processor time scheduling" > "Activate programs."

Changing process priority of the SQL Server1. Select "Programs" > "Microsoft SQL Server 2005" in the Start menu.

Start the "SQL Server Management Studio".

2. Click "Connect" to select the local server.

3. Open the shortcut menu with the right mouse button and select the properties ("Properties") of the SQL server.

4. Select the "Processors" page.

– Activate the "Boost SQL Server priority" option.

– Close the window by clicking "OK".

Adjust memory size of SQL ServerProceed as follows to adjust the minimum and maximum setting of the memory size available to the SQL Server:

1. Select "Programs" > "Microsoft SQL Server 2005" and start the "SQL Server Management Studio."

2. Click "Connect" to select the local server.

3. Open the shortcut menu with the right mouse button and select the properties ("Properties") of the SQL server.

4. Select the "Memory" page.

– Set the values.

– Close the window by clicking "OK".

Backup/Restore strategyPerform these backups regularly to minimize data loss:



System backupFor system backup use the Windows backup program or a similar program.

SQL Server BackupThe following recovery models are available for backup of the SQL Server:

● Full [StoragePlus Default] (most reliable; generates large SQL log files)

● Bulk logged

● Simple (restores server up to last SQL backup; very small log files)

Use the backup function in the "SQL Server Enterprise Manager" to back up the SQL database and log files.

Select the menu command "SQL Server Enterprise Manager > SQL Server Group > Server entry > Management > Backup" to start the backup.

Additional information is available in the Online Help for the SQL Server.

Checking free hard disk spaceWe recommend that you check the available hard disk space regularly.

WinCC backup configurationDo not set an alternative backup path when using StoragePlus in der OS archive configuration. StoragePlus cannot monitor the alternative backup path.

If OS cannot access the StoragePlus drive, the data will be stored on the OS servers and copied later. When the size of the ring buffer (time period over all segments) has been reached, the data will be written to the OS servers.

1.3.4.4 Expert Settings

QuestionThe backup database and database are created on the same drive. Where can I change the drive of the backup database?

AnswerThe settings are read from the "Common\StoragePlus.Config" file during startup. The archiving service uses this setting to distinguish between the paths where the backup database and the database are created.

According to the database, you define separate folders for the data file and for the log file of the backup database

The directories are specified using the following parameters:



● <database path > - Directory where the default database data file (*.mdf) is to be generated.

● <log path> - Directory where the database log file (*.Ldf) is to be generated.

● <backup path> - Folder for the backup database file (*.mdf)

● <log backup path> - Directory where the log file (*.Ldf) of the backup database is to be generated.

The values for the <backup path> and <database path> parameters are identical after installation. The values for the <log backup path> and <log path> parameters are identical.

The altered settings will be adopted when creating a new backup database. These changes do not affect the backup databases created earlier.

1.3.5 How to install SIMATIC BATCH Report (optional)

Introduction You need to install SIMATIC BATCH Report to be able to view archived batch data from SIMATIC BATCH.



Requirements● The PCS 7 installation DVD is ready and available.

Procedure1. Start the SIMATIC BATCH Report setup on the PCS 7 Installation DVD in the directory

"Additional Products\Batch Report\ Setup".

2. Follow the instructions on the screen. SIMATIC BATCH Report is installed.

1.4 How to Uninstall StoragePlus

Introduction If you want to uninstall StoragePlus from a computer, the following two options are available.

The following elements are not included in the process when you uninstall StoragePlus: ● ViewEditor configurations that have been created● StoragePlus database files

Requirements● Administrator rights on the computer with the StoragePlus installation

Procedure1. In the Start menu of the operating system, select the menu command "Settings > Control

Panel > Software".

2. Select "StoragePlus V1" and click "Uninstall".This starts StoragePlus Setup.

3. Confirm the dialog box.


Alternative Procedure1. In the Start menu of the operating system, select the menu command "Settings > Control

Panel > Software".

2. Select "StoragePlus" and click "Change".This starts StoragePlus Setup.

3. If you want to uninstall the software, select the "Remove StoragePlus" check box.

4. If you want to repair the installation, select the "Repair StoragePlus" check box.

2.1 Release notes

2.2 Important Information

Web viewer: Filtering alarmsThe standard filter in the "Filter" dialog can only be used to a limited extent in the Web Viewer function "Display alarm as table." You cannot use the inputs for user text, process value, and process text because they will result in an empty table.

Copying alarm texts from the Web Viewer into the view editorAlarm texts which contain "-" cannot be copied from the Web Viewer into the view editor.

Web viewer: Displaying trend data from archives with Asian characters in tag namesTrend data from from archives with Asian characters in tag names are only displayed in the Web Viewer if you make the following settings:

● In the Windows Control Panel, select the desired country under "Regional and Language Options > Standards and Formats".

● Enter the desired language in the Internet Explorer under "Tools > Internet Options > General > Languages".

● Set the desired Asian language for the user interface in the Web Viewer.


Displaying BATCH reports BATCH reports are saved in xml file format. Use the "BFREPORT" program in the BATCH Report Viewer to open the "*.xml" file type.

Archiving WinCC report files Reports not accessed within the previous 10 minutes are either copied or deleted. This setting prevents copy or delete operations while new reports (EMF files) are being created.

This time-based function protects only reports (EMF files), and not their corresponding directories. This prevents the deletion of a folder that is created by a print job but does not yet contain any data.

Message in the application log:The system closes the archive file when it reaches its set volume and creates a new open archive file. The following MSQL message is entered in the application log each time this occurs.

"Could not allocate for object '<xxxxx>' in Database 'SPB_<xyz>' because 'PRIMARY' file group is full."

IntroductionYou use the StoragePlus Administration Console to configure the StoragePlus server, for example, to manage user authorizations.

You require administrator rights to access the StoragePlus Administration Console. The StoragePlus Administration Console consists of the following components:

● Log Viewer

● System Configuration

● User Management

ConfigurationThe layout of the StoragePlus Administration Console is based on Windows standards. The Administration Console has the following command bars:

● Toolbar

● Menu bar

● Status Bar

Menu BarThe menu bar contains most of the commands you can call on the StoragePlus Administration Console. The commands that you cannot use in a specific situation are grayed out.

ToolbarThe toolbar gives you fast access to important commands that are often needed.

3.2 Log Viewer

3.2.1 Log Viewer

GeneralYou can use the Log Viewer to view events generated by StoragePlus.

The information is located in two log files:

1. Application log: The application log contains the events that were recorded by StoragePlus. Example: creating of backups, connecting and separating of archives.

2. Activity log: the activity log contains the events that were recorded by the operation of StoragePlus.Example: publishing or changing a configuration.

Information about the eventIn the detailed window, you see additional information about the selected event. Double-click the selected event to open the "Properties of Information" dialog box.

Output field Description

Note

When a new event occurs, the display is not automatically updated. To update the view, select the entry "Application Log". Open the context menu, and then click "Update".

3.2.2 "Action" menu

IntroductionThe "Action" menu contains the essential commands of the Log Viewer. The content of the menu is determined by the selection. You can also use the context menu or the toolbar to call the menu commands.

Delete All Events Deletes the entries in the application log or in the activity log. This action cannot be reversed.

Update Updates the view.Export list... Exports the entries from the application log or from the activity log. The events

are exported into a TXT file or into a CSV file. Help Opens the online help of the StoragePlus Administration Console.

3.3 System Configuration

3.3.2 "Common" dialog

Settings in the "Common" dialog The general data for archiving are displayed in the "Common" dialog.





The meaning of the input and output fields is given below:

Field Description

Server name Name of the server computer.Database name The database name is specified during installation of the StoragePlus Server.

The database name cannot be changed.Shared archive name Path for storing the archivesArchive type In this area, you select whether you want to choose all archives or the archives

of a specific type.Archive size The time frame and size of the archive are specified here.Time of segment change

Setting for the time of the unconditional segment change. At this time, the segment is changed, irrespective of its size.

Backup configuration Area for the backup configuration.Long term data only When this option is selected, only long-term data are archived.Backup activated Activates the backup.Signature activated Setting for a backup signature. This function monitors whether the file has been

The secondary storage location is used in the following cases, for example:● If the memory space on a backup medium is occupied.● If the original destination path is not available, e.g. due to a network failure.Note: The path must be specified in UNC format (\\server name \ share name).

If a central archive server is installed in your system, you can only change the name of the server in the "Common" dialog in order to read the server settings. The "Save Settings" button is disabled. The settings for the archives can only be changed in the central archive server.

If a central archive server is not installed in your system, you can change the settings for the archives in the "Common" dialog. Click "Save Settings" to save your settings.



3.3.3 Archives

3.3.3.1 "Archives" dialog

Actions in the "Archives" dialog You can configure the access to backup files in the "Archives" dialog. Use "Connect" to attach previously created backup files with the StoragePlus database.

3.3.3.2 How to attach and detach backups

IntroductionClosed archives that were swapped out in a backup are not available online. You need to attach the backup to enable StoragePlus to access the data.

Attach1. Select the backup file (*.mdf) in the drop-down list box and click "Open".

2. If the connection was established successfully, click "OK".This connects the backup file to StoragePlus.

Separating1. Select an archive in the drop-down list box in the "Detach" dialog box.

2. Click "Separate selected entries".



3.3.3.3 Catalog

Introduction The "Catalog" function shows a list of archives, beginning with the newest archive.



Status of archivesThe following archive statuses are available:

● Backed-up&Detached - The archive has been transferred to a backup file. You can connect to the StoragePlus Server again.

3.3.3.4 Archive List

IntroductionThe archive list shows a list of archived data.

"Archived Data" dialog boxThe dialog box shows the list of all archived data. Which data are archived depends on your configuration. The following information are displayed in the dialog box:

● Server

● Data type

● Time from - Time to

If you select a different server or a different data type, you limit the list to this selection.



3.3.3.5 Configuration data

Saving configuration dataThe configuration data of StoragePlus, e.g. content of the catalog, is stored in a backup file.

Start the backup using the "Save" button. In the "Backup Configuration" dialog box, enter the destination path where the backup file is to be stored.

Downloading configuration dataIf the StoragePlus Server fails unexpectedly (e.g. power failure or removal of the power connector), this can corrupt the configuration data. Use the "Restore" button to restore the configuration data from the backup file.

3.3.4 "Advanced" dialog for data migration

Introduction In the "Advanced" dialog you can migrate the archive database from version V1.1 to the current version. Migration is required to be able to work with the installed version of the central archive server or the StoragePlus server.

Note

If the data is in the current version, this is indicated in the dialog and the data does not have to be migrated.

RequirementThe data is in version V1.1.



Procedure1. Click the "Start" button in the "Migration V1.1 > V1.3" area of the "Advanced" dialog.

2. Click "Yes" in the "Database Migration Procedure" dialog that is displayed.The "Migration Status" dialog box is displayed. When the update is completed, the "OK" is enabled.

3. Click "OK".The archive database is adapted to StoragePlus V1.3.



3.4 User Management

3.4.1 User Management

IntroductionYou use the User Management to manage users and groups. You can set up and manage access rights for users in User Management.

General rulesYou can assign each user to one or more groups. You cannot change the four predefined groups:

● Administrator - full access to StoragePlus system

● Power User - read access to StoragePlus views and creation of views

● User - read access to StoragePlus views

● Guest - access to StoragePlus views denied

You can associate the four groups with roles.

● Administrators (Role: Administrator)

● Power Users (Role: Power User)

● Users (Role: User)

● Guests (Role: Guest)

User rights are assigned based on maximum access rights. Example: a user is a member of the "Administrator" group and the "User" group. The "Administrator" group has more permissions than the "User" group. In this case, the user always has administrator rights.

At least one user must be assigned administrator rights in the system. This user must be assigned to the "Administrator" group.

3.4.2 "Action" menu

IntroductionThe "Action" menu contains the most important User Management commands. The content of the menu is determined by the selection. You can also use the context menu or the toolbar to call the menu commands.

New user... Creates a new user. The "Add New Users" dialog box opens. From the "Domain" field, select the relevant user domain. Click "List all users" to open a list of all users of this domain. If you enter the user name manually, take care that you spell the entry correctly. Click "Next". Specify the group to which the user belongs.

New group... Creates a new group. The "Initial Settings" dialog box opens. Enter the name and the description. Specify the role of the group. Click "Next". In the next dialog box, you can select the users who are included in this group.

Properties Changes the properties of users or groups.Delete Removes a user or a group. You cannot delete a group that contains users. You

must first remove the users from the group before it can be deleted.

3.5 View Management

3.5.1 View Management

IntroductionView Management manages the view objects. View objects are views of StoragePlus data. The view objects are created in StoragePlus View Editor.

Configuration

The published view objects are displayed in the tree view. The following view objects are available:

● Configuration

● Group

● Views

Additional informationIn the detailed window, you see additional information about the selected view object.

Double-click a selected view object. The properties dialog box containing information on the view object opens.

3.5.2 "Action" menu

IntroductionThe "Action" menu contains the most important View Management commands. The functionality of the menu depends on your selection. The menu commands can also be called from the context menu and toolbar.

3.5.3 Working with Access Rights

IntroductionView objects created in View Editor are assigned default access properties. You can change the access rights subsequently in the View Management. You change the access rights in the "Security" tab in the "Properties of View" dialog box.

The meanings of the dialog box fields are as follows:

Field DescriptionUsers or groups Specifies the users or groups who are permitted to access the view object.Access right: Specifies the following access right for users or groups:

● Get– View object can be read in the View Editor, but it cannot be changed.

● Change– View object can be read and changed in the View Editor.

● Full access● No access

– View object is not visible in the View Editor or in the Web Viewer.Inherit access rights from parents

If the check box is selected, the access rights of the parent object are inherited by the view object. The previous access rights are overwritten.If the check box is cleared, the view object can be assigned its own access rights.



3.5.4 Editing view objects

NotesHeed the following notes when editing view objects:

● view objects are stored on the central StoragePlus server. The current object status of the view object is displayed on the "General Settings" tab of the properties dialog.

● If the view object is not being edited, the following text is output in the object status: "You can modify this object".If the view object is being edited, the user who is editing the view object is displayed.When a view object is being edited, it is locked for other users.

● When the user finishes editing, the object status is reset again. It is then released for editing by other users.

● If the view object is being edited by someone, the administrator can change the object status in the View Management. The changes in the view object are undone, and it is released again by clicking "Execute release change". This action is necessary if a power failure occurs while the object is being edited, for example. The view object remains locked for other users.You can release the view object for editing again via the StoragePlus Administration Console.

NOTICE

Use the "Execute Release Change" only if you have no other option.

4.1 StoragePlus View Editor

IntroductionYou can use the StoragePlus View Editor to create views. Views are views of StoragePlus data.

The views are as follows:

● Configuration

● Group

● Views

ViewViews are used to specify the data to be displayed and its form. The views in the tree view are stored under "Configuration". The "Configuration" element is also referred to as View Configuration.

Saved view configurations that have been published can be displayed in the StoragePlus Web Viewer, and the views contained here can be selected for viewing.

4.2 Configuration

4.2.1 Status Bar

InformationThe status bar returns the following information:

● Which object is selected

● Which mode the user is working in (offline or online)

● The exact position in the editing field where the cursor is located

4.2.2 Toolbar

IntroductionThe toolbar provides buttons for the essential commands of the StoragePlus View Editor. If necessary, you can hide the toolbar.

4.2.3.5 "View Configuration" Menu

IntroductionThis menu contains the commands for managing configurations.



CommandsThe "View Configuration" menu contains the following commands:

Get Opens the following dialog box:

In this dialog box, you select the configuration that you want to read. The configuration cannot be edited. If you attempt to make a change, the following message appears.

Click "Yes" to edit the configuration. Get for Editing Calls the View Configuration for changing the views. You can only change the

configuration offline. Update the information on the server by calling the "Publish" function.

Publish Saves the configuration in the StoragePlus database. The views are published for the Web. Afterwards, you can access the views with the StoragePlus WebViewer.

Release Editing Exits the change mode for this view without saving changes. The changes in this view are discarded. Note that you can save the changes beforehand in a new view with a new name.

4.2.3.6 "View" Menu

CommandsThe "View" menu contains the following commands:

4.3 Configuring View Objects

4.3.1 Working with Views

IntroductionThe views are hierarchically arranged in the tree view. The views are as follows:

– Highest level

● Group

– Groups views. Can only be positioned under a configuration.

● Views

– View of data stored in StoragePlus. Can be positioned under a group or configuration.

You can edit each view with the following options:

● Via the menu bar

● Via the context menu

● Via the toolbar

The menu commands are enabled or disabled depending on the situation.

Language... - Specifies the language for the view. Keep in mind that the texts must be translated into the respective language. You can find additional information about the language in the "Editing" section. You translate the texts in the "Edit" menu by selecting the menu command "Translate texts...". Afterwards, you can select the new view language.

Rename <F2> Renames selected views, groups, or configurations. You can find the menu command "Rename" in the "File" menu.



Move viewsYou can use a drag-and-drop operation to move views. The cursor indicates if you can use a drag & drop operation to move a view to a new location.

4.3.2 How to Assign Access Rights

General informationView objects created in View Editor are assigned default access properties. An access right specifies a user or group and an assigned access level.

Procedure1. In the tree view, select the view object for which you want to configure access rights.

2. Open the context menu, and then select "User permissions".The "User Rights" dialog box opens.

3. If you wish to add users/groups:

– select the user or the group in the "Available Users/Groups" group.

– Click "Add". Click "Apply". This saves the changes.

– Click "OK" to close the dialog box.

4. If you wish to delete users/groups:

– select the user or the group in the "Assigned Users/Groups" group. Click "Delete". Click "Apply".This saves the changes.

– Click "OK" to close the dialog box.

5. If you wish to assign access authorizations:

– open the context menu for the entry "Assigned Users/Groups". Select the access right.

– Click "Add".

– Click "Apply".This saves the changes.

– Click "OK".This closes the dialog box.



4.4 View Components

4.4.1 View components

View componentsThe data are displayed using view components. Each view can have one or more view components. You can reduce or enlarge and move each view component.

You can make use of the standard menu commands Add, Delete, and Copy for the view components. You can select the menu commands Copy and Insert via the main menu, the context menu, or the toolbar.

You can undo each editing action. To do so, select the menu command "Edit > Undo" or use key combination <CTRL+Z>.

The View Editor supports the following view components for data visualization:

4.4.2 Text Label

General informationYou can use the text label to describe events or view components in more detail. You can also use the text label without any text as a wide colored grid line between two tables. The text label is then a field with a defined background color and size.

You can use the following settings to specify the appearance of the text label:

Font type Opens the "Font" dialog box. Define the settings for the text to be displayed in this dialog box.

Foreground color Specifies the color for the foreground of the object. The "Foreground color" is equivalent to the text color. Select a color from the color palette.

Background color Specifies the background color of the object. Select a color from the color palette.

Text Defines the text. Enter a text in the "Text" dialog.You can also open the "Text" dialog box by double-clicking the text label.



4.4.3 Link

General informationYou can use the link object to link views together.

PropertiesOpen the context menu by right-clicking the link object.

You use the following settings to specify the properties of the link object:



Foreground color Specifies the color for the foreground of the object. The "Foreground color" is equivalent to the text color. Select a color from the color palette.

Background color Specifies the background color of the object. Select a color from the color palette.




Text Defines the text. Enter a text in the "Text" dialog.You can also open the "Text" dialog box by double-clicking the text field.

Link Defines which view the link object will be linked to. Click "Link" to open the "View Editor" dialog box.On the "View Editor" dialog box, click "OK". The cursor changes to the hand cursor. In the tree view, click the view to be linked. You can also open the "View Editor" dialog box by double-clicking the link object.

4.4.4 Alarm table

General informationThe alarm table is used to output WinCC messages.

PropertiesOpen the context menu by right-clicking the status bar.

You use the following settings to define the alarm table properties:





Header -> Font Opens the "Font" dialog box. Define the settings for the table heading in this dialog box.

Header -> Foreground color

Specifies the color for the foreground of the heading. The "Foreground color" is equivalent to the text color. Select a color from the color palette.

Header -> Background color

Specifies the background color of an object. Select a color from the color palette.

Filter Specifies which data are to be displayed. You can also open the "Filter" dialog box by double-clicking the alarm table.




"Column Selection" tab Specifies which columns in the alarm table are to be output. Activate the required columns by selecting the check box.




"Query" tab Specifies which messages are to be displayed.

1. Select a filter criterion from the list.2. In the "Server" group, select the StoragePlus Server containing the

archive data. The entry "*" allows the use of the tags on all available servers.

3. In the "Filter" group, select a value from the drop-down list box. You can also enter the value directly in the selection box. You can use placeholders (i.e. "*", "?", "-") in the filter function.– "*" replaces any number of characters at the beginning or end of a

name.– "?" ?" stands for any character.– "-" can be used to set a numerical range, e.g. 2 to 100.

You can combine these placeholders with other characters or numbers. The selection list shows the available search items.Click "Add" to add the selected tag. Use the "Refresh" or "Delete" button to define or delete a tag.

NoteYou always have to select a filter. If you do not want to use a specific filter, use the"*" placeholder for "Server" and "Filter".

"Time" tab You specify the time span in the "Time" tab.

The "Period" defines the time span to be considered, e.g. one week.The time unit defined in the "Offset" field represents the time offset to the current system time. Example: you want to examine the messages that occurred two weeks ago. Enter a "2" in the "Offset" field. Two weeks are subtracted from the system time.



4.4.5 Alarm hitlist

General informationThe alarm hitlist is used to display statistical values for WinCC messages in a table.


You use the following settings to define the alarm hitlist properties:



Header -> Font Opens the "Font" dialog box. Define the settings for the table heading in this dialog box.

Header -> Foreground color



Specifies the background color of the heading. Select a color from the color palette.

Filter Specifies which data are to be displayed. You can also open the "Filter" dialog box by double-clicking the alarm hitlist.

Introduction WinCC creates reports and logs of configuration data and runtime data.

PreparationIn order for StoragePlus to access the print jobs, you must move the report files to the StoragePlus computer. Use the script function "StoragePlus_ReportExport" to help move the report files. This script function is available in the "Global Script" editor in the "Standard functions" under "SplitScreenManager".

You can also move the report files manually. To do this, specify the destination directory for the EMF files on the StoragePlus computer. The path is \\<Servername>\ArchiveDir\Reports\<OS Rechner>\<Projektname>\PRT_OUT\<ProtokollName> JJJJMMTTHHMM\".

Security settings in Internet ExplorerIn order for the client to receive data from the server, the following settings must be made on the "Security" tab in the "Tools > Internet Options" menu:

The export of large data volumes may lead to long runtimes and to warning messages from IE which neither cause data loss, nor cancellation of the export. However, the user has to confirm these messages in order to continue the export.



7. In order to change the data that is displayed, select a shorter or longer period in the "Change period" field. After having set the time or date, click "Refresh" in order to display the new search result.

8. Return to the display options if you want to edit or reset the filter criteria.

Note

The data for each archive is sorted and output separately if advanced filter criteria are used to search in alarm archives. This applies to all columns except the "DateTime" column.


5.3.4 Displaying Archived Alarms in a hitlist


In this section, the display of alarms in a hitlist will be described with an example.

Enter the period as absolute value with the start/end date and time, or as a relative value in relation to the current time.Using the "Filter" dialog box, you can limit the expected search result and reduce the data volume to be transferred by setting corresponding filter criteria in SQL syntax. Enter corresponding filter criteria for individual columns in the standard search, or a filter criterion for all columns in the expanded search.The header of the "Filter" dialog box indicates a filtered search result. 5. If the database contains alarms from several WinCC Servers, select the corresponding servers using the "Select WinCC servers from the list" dialog box.

The table contains configured data and statistics, such as frequency of the alarm event, and the cumulative duration of "alarm came" and "alarm gone". You will find information about the table at the bottom of the page.You can scroll the list, or print or export its contents. You can choose whether to export only the visible area, or all alarms found for the selected period. The selected data can be exported to a file in *.xml or *.csv format.NoteMS Document Image Writer is not supported for printing the alarm hit-list. That is, you can only use the default printer set in Windows. NoteThis data export is intended for imports to Excel and is unsuitable for large data volumes. 5.3.5 Displaying Archive Tag Values in a Table


In this section, the display of tag values in a table will be described with an example.

2. Select the "Display tag data in table" function.The "Select Project" dialog box opens. The name of the selected archive is displayed.




4. Set the required period and select the tag values to be displayed in the table. Enter the period as absolute value with the start/end date and time, or as a relative value in relation to the current time.The result table displays the tag values if the "Display tag values" check box is activated. Deactivate the check box if you only want to display values of the selected aggregate functions.



5. Customize the "Rows per page" setting as required.

6. Select one or several aggregate functions to be applied to the tag values in the selected period. The values of these functions are valid for the selected period. These are displayed in addition to the tag values if the "Display tag values" check box is activated.

7. Continue using the "Display data" link.The search result is displayed in the table.

You can select the archive tag values to be displayed in the table from the "Selected tags" field.The time stamp is output for each tag value in "Date/Local Time/Time Zone" format, including the Quality Code. The mean value is displayed as an example. You can scroll the pages, or print or export the displayed contents. You can choose whether to export only the visible area, or all the values for the selected period. The selected data can be exported to a file in *.xml or *.csv format. A separate export file is created for each tag. NoteThis data export is intended for imports to Excel and is unsuitable for large data volumes. 5.3.6 Displaying Archive Tag Values in a Chart


In this section, the display of tag values in a chart will be described with an example.

2. Select the "Display tag data in table" function.The "Select Project" dialog box is displayed. The name of the selected archive is displayed.



3. Follow the "Continue to display options" link.The display options appear.

You can display tags for three different time periods. Enter the period as an absolute value, specifying the date and time for the start and end, or as a relative value in relation to the current time.



The "Add Tags" command opens a window in which you first select the server from which the tags will be displayed. Then select the desired tags and close the window with "OK". In the "Chosen Tags" window, assign a color to each tag and specify the period and value axis over which they are to be displayed. You can also activate the display of statistical functions in the "Aggregate" area. If the server has a redundant partner, it is entered in the corresponding field.In the "Value Axis" dialog box, you can set automatic or manual scaling for up to three axes. With automatic scaling, the area between the lowest and the highest tag value is mapped on the display area. With manual scaling, you can control the minimum and maximum value of the display by making the appropriate selections.



4. Continue using the "Display data" link.The search result is displayed in the diagram.

You can look through the pages and print out or export the displayed contents. When you export, you can decide whether just the visible area or all the values for the selected period should be exported. The selected data can be exported in the form of a *.xml or *.csv file.NoteThis data export is intended for import into Excel and is not suitable for larger data volumes. Exporting larger data volumes can bring about longer runtimes and warning messages from IE; no data will of course be lost and the export will also not be aborted; however, the user will have to confirm the actions so that the export can be continued.



Use the "Zoom" button to switch the zoom function on and off. Switch on the zoom function and use the mouse pointer to click on any point in a displayed trend and zoom in on this segment. Repeated clicking further enlarges the segment.Use the "1 : 1" button to restore the original view.Use the "Scale" button to switch automatic scaling of the y-axis when zooming on and off.

5. To change the data that is displayed, in the "Change period" field select a shorter or longer period. After setting the time or date, click "Refresh" to view the new search result.

Note

When zooming with automatic scaling switched on, the labeling of the y-axis is matched to just the values of the trend that was previously selected and enlarged. Trends for other tags are ignored and may not be displayed in the zoomed area. If automatic scaling is switched off, all trends are included and only the displayed period changes when zooming.

Note

If the zoom function is switched on, the "Export data" function exports the data for the entire specified period, and not the zoomed area in the display.

5.3.7 Display WinCC Reports


In this section, the display of a WinCC report will be described with an example.

Requirements● The archive database in which the desired report is stored must be connected to the SQL

server. You can check the connection status in the StoragePlus Administration console under System Configuration > Archive.




Display WinCC reports1. Start the Web Viewer in the start menu via SIMATIC > StoragePlus > Web Viewer.

2. Select the "Display WinCC Reports" function.The "Select Project" dialog box opens. The name of the selected archive is displayed.




4. Set the period and select the columns to be displayed in the search result. Enter the period as absolute value with the start/end date and time, or as a relative value in relation to the current time.


6. You can further limit the search in the "Select WinCC servers from the list" dialog if the database contains reports from more than one WinCC Server.



7. Continue using the "Display report list" link.The search result is displayed in the table.



5.3.8 Displaying SIMATIC BATCH Reports

Introduction Archive data can be displayed with the StoragePlus Web Viewer.

In this section, the display of a BATCH report will be described with an example.

Requirements● The archive database in which the desired report is stored must be connected to the SQL

server. You can check the connection status in the StoragePlus Administration console under System Configuration > Archive.

StoragePlus WebViewer.

2. Select the "Display Batch Reports" function.The "Select Project" dialog box opens. The name of the selected archive is displayed.






4. Set the period and select the columns to be displayed in the search result. Enter the period as absolute value with the start/end date and time, or as a relative value in relation to the current time.Using the "Filter" dialog box, you can limit the expected search result and reduce the data volume to be transferred by setting corresponding filter criteria in SQL syntax.
