My goals for the Canada Summer Games are to earn a medal for Team BC and to get a personal best!
My personal best for the 4kg hammer throw is 60.08m.

I recently completed my first year at the University of Connecticut. I competed during both the indoor and outdoor seasons and I placed fifth in my conference as a freshman during the outdoor championships. Our team also did not have a throws coach for the first four months of training so it was a difficult transition to training without a coach.

2012 BC Summer Games
My goal for the Games this year is to represent BC on the national stage with personal best performances. I hope to have races and experiences with my teammates I will remember for a lifetime, and look back on proudly.

My teammates inspire me everyday with not only their successes, but also how they handle setbacks and adversity. They have been role models to me by guiding me through difficult times in training and in life, which inspires me to do the same with others.
Qualifying/making the Canada Summer Games follows a two year dry spell after winning Legion Youth Nationals in 2014, full of family setbacks and severe health issues as well as a stress fracture impeding my competition season in Grade 12. I have finally had a healthy year of training and feel ready to perform back at my best.

When I was 11,Maureen and Ted de Saint Croix, the head coaches at Ocean Athletics, introduced me to the javelin. and kept me so motivated i don't know if i would have gotten into the sport or stayed with it without them. they are the two of the most loving caring encouraging people i know. Ever since I could sit up by myself, I have been surrounded by the culture of running. I would go on runs with my parents, first being pushed by a stroller, eventually running along side and surpassing them as I grew older. I competitively started running in Grade 7, and since then have found a passion for the steeplechase. Since my first race in Grade 9, It has become my passion that has kept me a part of this sport for so many years. Steeplechase has opened so many doors for me in my running career and continues to open even more towards the future. It has placed me a spot on Team BC this year for the Canada Summer Games and now I can't wait to make the most of it!

This year I was selected to represent Canada as a part of the youth team in Dresden, Germany. This was my first international meet and I was very proud to represent Canada!
My role model is a gymnast named Shae Zamardi. We were team mates in gymnastics and moved to Vancouver to train. She made Team Canada and has been at Louisiana State University on a scholarship. She has shown me that perseverance is important in sports.
I was both a diver and a gymnast when I was 8 but chose to specialize in gymnastics. Lisa, my diving coach, teased my mom and said I would be back. I made it on the National High Performance list and have a silver medal from floor at gymnastics nationals but missed home too much as I was training in Vancouver. We moved back to the island then 5 years ago I switched back to diving. Lisa would tease me and say we had to train the gymnast out of me since there are many technique differences between the two sports, including learning to land on your head instead of your feet. I have an athletic brother, Brodie who plays lacrosse at a high level and has been on Team BC for Box Lacrosse Nationals.

I was a competitive dancer and quit that to learn to row after hearing Ben Rutledge at a Right to Play speech at my school. I waited 2 years to start as I wasn't old enough. After my first LTR session I knew this was what I wanted to do. Rowing has taught me so much about myself and others, I was the team captain at 15 for our club and have volunteered many summers helping others learn to row. I look forward to a long career doing what I love.

The reason I got into rowing was because my mother didn't tell me where we were going that day, she simply told me to wear something I could workout in and dropped me off at the boathouse for my "Learn-To-Row" camp (which I had no idea about). I haven't been able to keep myself away from that boathouse ever since.

My mom, she always tries to maintain a good attitude towards life and works towards her goals. I look up to her a lot for that, she is also super loving and caring and I strive to be the same.
I have only been rowing for 10 months (in august will be 11!). I also am a dual citizen and went to high school in Texas, I trained and competed with horses before I became a rower. I was actually one of the top riders in the state of Texas under my division and I rode horses for 16 years!

I've always looked to my brother for motivation. Our relationship is of an extremely competitive nature, and because he is a rower as well it helps us both further our potentials.
When I was in Grade 9 I was extremely unathletic, I'd never truly played any competitive sports in my life. I joined both the rowing and rugby teams just to try them out, but many people told me that because of my short height and stalky build I wouldn't be a good rower. I was discouraged, but my first coaches Harold Backer and Simon Vermegan pushed me to carry on rowing despite my great genetic disadvantages. They told me that hard work is the most important aspect of rowing, not natural genetic gifts. The concept of having the deck stacked against me was enthralling, and I was addicted to the sport immediately.
