MEDIA NAV Guide for content download on-line

This document describes how to perform software or content updates of the user’s navigation device. Screenshots used in the description are not final however they can be used until the final screenshots are completed.

General process of the software update

The following steps need to be done to perform a full software updates on the user’s device: 1. These steps need to be done only once.

1.a. Install the Media Nav Toolbox on the user’s computer. Some dedicated Renault or Dacia Media Nav Toolbox can be downloaded from:

- https://www.naviextras.com/dl_renault_toolbox for Renault cars or

- https://www.naviextras.com/dl_dacia_toolbox for Dacia cars

1.b. The user registers to the Naviextras website through the Media Nav Toolbox. Some dedicated Renault or Dacia Naviextra websites can be access from - http://www.renault.naviextras.com for Renault cars - http://www.dacia.naviextras.com for Dacia cars

2. The user brings an empty USB pen drive to the navigation device, and inserts the pen drive into the navigation device’s USB socket. 3. The user selects Update from the device’s menu. This creates a version log of the currently installed content packages, engine and OS on the pen drive. 4. The user takes the pen drive back to his or her computer and inserts it into the computer’s USB socket. 5. The user starts the Media Nav Toolbox, which recognizes the pen drive and its contents. 6. The user is offered updates for his or her contents, engine and OS. 7. If the user selects them to be updated, then the Media Nav Toolbox automatically downloads the necessary binary data to the pen drive. 8. When the download is complete, the user takes back the pen drive to the device and it is inserted once again into the device’s USB socket. 9. The device automatically performs the updates. 10. The pen drive can be removed, when the update process is complete.

Step by step guide for the Media Nav Toolbox This part describes step by step how to update the use the Media Nav Toolbox.

1. How to install the Media Nav Toolbox

Installation of the Media Nav Toolbox is quick and easy. After downloading the installer file, simply double-click the file to start the installation. First you need to select the language of the Installation Wizard.

During the installation process follow the instructions on the screen and click Next:

If you checked the "I would like to start Media Nav Toolbox now." option, the Media Nav Toolbox

will start automatically after installation.

Media Nav Toolbox has an Auto Update feature, which prompts you to upgrade it at every startup if there is a newer version available. If you choose to upgrade, you will go through the same installation procedure again as described above. You must have administrator privileges on your computer to be able to update the software. If you are notified about an update without the possibility of performing it, please contact your network administrator.

2. How to start using the Media Nav Toolbox After Media Nav Toolbox has been started, you will see the main page. The toolbar on the top of the page informs you that you are not logged in:

2.1. Make sure your PC is connected to the Internet.

Internet connection is required for the Media Nav Toolbox to verify if any update is available for download, and of course later to download it. 2.2. Click the 'Not logged in' icon or the Login button to log in with your username and password

The Media Nav Toolbox and the Naviextras.com sites work in an integrated way. When you buy an update or any extra map on the Naviextras.com web sites, and then you log in to the Media Nav Toolbox, it will immediately know that you have the right to download and license it. Also, if you are entitled to have a free update, this will be shown in the Media Nav Toolbox after you log in.

To log in, click the 'Not logged in' icon in the toolbar at the top of the page or click the Login button in the Media Nav Toolbox main screen. In case you are registered neither on the Naviextras.com site, nor the Media Nav Toolbox, you can easily register by clicking the ‘Register’ button on the log-in screen.

When you have successfully logged in, your username will be shown on the top of all Media Nav Toolbox screens.

3. How to connect, identify and register your device with the Media Nav Toolbox? To register your device to your user profile, first you have to take an empty USB pen drive to the device. When the pen drive is inserted into the device’s USB socket, you have to select Update button on the device. How to locate the Update button in the navigation engine (the Update button is enabled when there is an USB pen drive connected)

1-Click on Navi (DEST in French)

2-Click on right arrow

3-Click on Map Update

4-Click on Options

5-Click on Update This creates register files on the pen drive which is going to be used by the Media Nav Toolbox to register your device to your account and to let the Media Nav Toolbox determine which updates are available for your device. Connect your pen drive to your PC. When your device is successfully connected and the Media Nav Toolbox finds it in the list of supported devices, the device (or software) name will appear at the top of the Media Nav Toolbox window. If you have followed the instructions of the guide up to this point, and successfully connected your pen drive and then logged in, then your device is already identified and registered into your user profile.

4. How to browse and select updates in the Media Nav Toolbox? If you already purchased update(s) on the Naviextras.com portal, you can skip these steps. After successfully connecting your pen drive and logging in, you can start browsing updates and extra maps in the Media Nav Toolbox. Click on the Catalogue button in the menu bar on the left hand side.

Available updates and extras can be filtered by geographic region or content type with the two roll-down menus above the list of available updates. If a content is available for you after payment, the price and a shopping cart icon is shown for that item. If an update is available for you free of charge, an icon of a 'free' price tag is shown instead of the price. You can find out more details about the specific updates by clicking on the blue (i) icon.

After you have purchased an update or added a free item to your cart, it is added to the installation queue, and the number of updates awaiting installation is shown on the Updates button. Click the Updates button to continue with the download and installation of updates.

5. How to buy updates and extras in the Media Nav Toolbox? This Guide explains the simple Media Nav Toolbox purchase and checkout procedure. You can start buying by clicking on the shopping cart icon next to the selected item.

It will open a new Media Nav Toolbox window with a web-site like page with the detailed description of that item. You can add it to the cart by clicking on the Add to cart icon, just the same way as on the portal

After adding the item to the cart, you will see your cart with a button to start the checkout process. Sometimes there are additional recommended items that you can get for a special bundle price if you buy them together with the content that is already in your cart. Click Add to Cart next to any of these items if you choose to take advantage of the special offer.

If you would like to buy additional updates too, simply close this window and click the shopping cart icon for another item, then click the Add to cart button to add the next item to your cart. When all items are in the cart, click on the Go to Checkout button and go through the checkout process.

6. How to download updates to the pen drive?

If you purchased pay update(s) and/or added free updates to the installation queue, please click on the Updates button in the menu bar on the left hand side. The Updates button will open a screen which shows all available updates, including:

items that you have purchased but not yet installed (updates or extras),

free updates and extras that you added to the installation queue from the Catalogue,

and special free updates (which are normally pay updates but your manufacturer or the Site operator provides them to you free of charge).

The list shows all available updates by region in a list and on a world map.

By default, all items belonging to all regions are selected for installation. If you decide to skip a region for now, uncheck the checkbox at the beginning of its table row. After reviewing the table, click Install at the bottom of the screen to start the installation process The Media Nav Toolbox will start downloading and installing the selected updates. A double status bar shows you the progress: the one on top shows the total ratio of the job already done, and the one at the bottom shows progress with the current file. Please wait until you receive a message that the operation is completed.

7. How to install updates to the device? When the process is done in step 6, the USB pen drive can be removed from the PC. Bring it back to the navigation device and insert the pen drive to the device’s USB socket. When the device is turned on, it automatically notices the available updates on the pen drive, and offers to update the device from the updates found on the pen drive. When the update is completed, the navigation device restarts with all new and up to date functionality. Please neither remove the USB pen drive from the device, nor shut the device down while update is in progress!

Minimum requirements Media Nav Toolbox requirements The following platforms are currently supported:

Windows XP (Service Pack 2)

Windows Vista (32-bit version)

Windows 7 (32-bit version) The PC must have a display resolution of 1024x768.

USB Pen Drive requirements While the necessary size of the pen drive greatly depends on the size of the downloaded content, and engine, a 4 GB storage size is recommended.
