MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

PREZIThroughout our media coursework we were asked to present our work in a range of mixed media formats, in which I found prezi’s, an animated presentation, which I found worked well as a substitute to a normal slideshow.

To navigate prezi you clickthe bottom arrows in whichthe presentation zooms tothe different paragraphs orpictures which are set up in a sequence.

IMOVIE

We used I movie in both our research and planning and evaluation. This was again a new way of recording our plans using the webcam.

Using imovie you simplycapture the video and then save each clip which youcan also edit, to get this ontoour blogs we used video up loader vimeo.

I feel imovie is a simple andquick way to express ideas rather than using more in-depth cameras and editing soft wares.

SLIDESHARE

Slide share is a application which can convert a normal PowerPoint to an animated one which can be converted and used on websites for example in our blogger.

I have used many slideshares within my coursework as I feel they are easiest to format and effective when uploaded.

They are best used for a lot of information or writing as it is compacted into one document, and takes up much less room on blogs.

SOND CLOUD

Sound cloud is an application used to upload different sound clips or songs into a file which can be used on our blogs.

we used the sound cloud up loader when creating a radio trailer for spike jonze’s film ‘I’m here’.

We first uploaded the clip by using a microphone and using garage band to edit.

VIMEO

Vimeo is a video up loader which can convert a quicktime movie into one to share online. The video can also be shared on the vimeo site and others users can view it.

We used vimeo to research short films as well as upload our imovies and sticky note story boards.

We used vimeo for out audience feedback to, as vimeo shows stats of who has watched the film and any comments made.

FINAL CUT PRO

Final cut pro was used for all editing which was done to make our film. It was used to make transitions, cuts which were required, shortening down any clips, adding music, altering sound, adding subtitles, adding voice over's and lastly titles for the film.

Final cut pro is spilt up Into a viewer, canvas, browser which are all used for different ways the format or edit the clips.

FINAL CUT PRO

You first upload the images into the browser and drag them into the timeline to order them in which you can view and cut in the viewer and the canvas is used to over look the whole thing.

I feel final cut pro was the best way to edit the film as there is so many features and techniques which can be explored in final cut pro to recreate and make the film different.

PHOTOSHOPPhotoshop was used mainly for my ancillary tasks to create a product to compliment and promote the film.

I used coloured filters on the photos to give it a psychedelic 1970 feel as well as create a dated polaroid made with burning and smudging tools.

I also used it to create a conventional layout for my review, layering images writing and borders.

SOCIAL NETWORKS

We used facebook and tumblr to help promote our film also and to receive audience feedback.

This showed a use of social networking and hoe films can be distributed of passed on.

TECHNOLOGY AS A THEME.

Within our film we also used technology as a theme, as the main character in the film had an obsession with technology and we used terms which related to social networking.

In the film we used links to laptops, facebook and ebay. This identified media technologies which play abig role in life today.
