A weekly publication for members and friends of Resurrection and the Child Development Center
Resurrection’s Mission Statement: Called by God’s Spirit, we are to be the presence of Christ in our daily lives so that others will follow him.
Meet Mercy Tamara! Next weekend, Char and I will sponsor Mercy and her community
in Kenya. YES, April 13-14, will allow for many miracles to take
place through our church family. We all will be encouraged to
sponsor a child (through their community) in Kenya. As Jesus im-
plies in the Matthew 25:14-30 parable, we are to “Invest well” in all we do. We rejoice when we can invest in the lives of those who
need us most! May Christ be praised! - Pastor Jensen
World Vision 6K Walk for Water
Join thousands of people across the globe in our mission to bring life-
changing clean water and fullness of life to children in communities
around the world. Nearly 1,000 children die every day because of a lack
of clean water and sanitation. We believe we can change this tragic sta-
tistic. For more information and to register for the 6K Walk, go to
www.orovalley.org and scroll to the bottom of the homepage
or go to https://www.teamworldvision.org/team/10979.
So far, Team Resurrection has 33 members and has
raised $4,300 of our $10,000 goal!

Coffee and Cookie Fellowship in SaddleBrooke in the Agave Restaurant ~ This Sunday, April 7
Join us for our Coffee and Cookie Fellowship in the Agave, the restaurant space to the right of
the reception desk on the first Sunday of each month. This is a great time to meet your friends
and make new friends!
Plan Ahead...No Services at SaddleBrooke on Easter Sunday!
Due to the Vermilion Room being unavailable on Easter Sunday, there will be no Services at
our SaddleBrooke site on April 21. A bus will be available for our SaddleBrooke members
and attendees to take to our Oro Valley site for our 9:15am Easter Sunday Service. The
bus will leave the parking lot at 8:15am. Please sign up at church as space is limited.
You are invited to join us for Easter Brunch at SaddleBrooke One after we return from the
Service at our Oro Valley site to celebrate Easter together. Brunch is at 11:00am and the
cost is $32 per person (plus tax and gratuity). Our fourth year of having a wonderful fellow-
ship time together without any of the work! To reserve your place, please sign up at the
reception desk before or after our SB Services.
As mentioned in last week’s Vision, Resurrection is
partnering with World Vision to practice Jesus’ teach-
ings found in Matthew 25; “...for I was hungry and you
gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something
to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was
naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you
took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me…
Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of
these who are members of my family, you did it to
me.”
On Palm Sunday, you will have an opportunity to spon-
sor children in Kenya who are seeking transformation
of their lives and their communities. Through your
prayerful generosity, these impoverished families will
experience clean water, improved health, education, and new economic opportunities. Pastor Randy will be
going to Kenya next February to visit communities that
Resurrection will be sponsoring. We hope to seed op-
portunities for future mission trips within our faith
community.
While donations through the offering plate are
appreciated, we’d prefer that you sponsor at least one
child ($39/mo) to help us reach a goal of 200 total child
sponsorships this year! Please note, you will not be able
to take sponsorship material home to fill out. The
forms must be filled out before or after the Worship
Services on Palm Sunday, April 14. Please bring credit
card information or a check along with you.
Thank you in advance for your continued faithful-
ness and generosity that delivers Jesus’ transformative power.
The family we are sponsoring arrived last
week. They were tired from their journey
which began 36 hours earlier in Turkey. They speak Farsi
(also known as Persian). Their case manager arranged
for an interpreter who translated our interactions at the
airport. At the airport meet and greet from Resurrec-
tion were Charlie/Laura Lentner, Jeff Kraus, Marcia Ris-
lov, and Martha Berg. The interpreter was originally
from Afghanistan like this family. Once their bags arrived,
the case manager and interpreter left with the family and
headed to the apartment. We waved, smiled and nodded
goodbye. Thank you for your contributions helping to
furnish the apartment. It was only possible because of
your generosity. Please continue to pray for their
adjustment. If you wish to support this ministry, please
make checks payable to Resurrection Lutheran Church and in the memo line write Refugee Ministry. (In two
weeks, read the update about Grace who arrived last
October). Thank you!
Please join us on Tuesday, April 30 to prepare, deliv-
er, and serve a hot meal for the homeless at the Pri-
mavera Men’s Shelter. We will need 5 volunteers to
meet at the church kitchen to help prepare the meal
at 1:15pm and 4 volunteers to meet at the church
kitchen at 4:30pm to deliver and serve the meal. We
also need at least 300 homemade cookies (please mark
them “Primavera” and leave them in the kitchen by
1:00pm on April 30). If you would like
to volunteer, please sign up on the OV
church patio or call the church office at
575-9901.

Church News
The Resurrection Church Council established the Mis-
sion Endowment Fund for the purpose of “encouraging
and receiving extraordinary and special gifts of accumu-
lated assets to the church.”
The earnings from the Fund are to be used “to accom-
plish its mission of outreach in the community and the
world. Such outreach may include grants to ELCA
seminaries, colleges, or students attending such
schools, social service agencies, institutions and agen-
cies to which this congregation relates, and to special
programs designed for those persons who are in spir-
itual and/or economic need.”
The Mission Endowment Committee is requesting pro-
posals for funding of 2019 projects from qualified or-
ganizations and agencies. A limited number of grants
are available. In the past, grants of up to $1000 have
been recommended to the Resurrection Council for
approval. The proposals, due by April 30 should
briefly describe:
The mission of the requesting organization
or agency,
The purpose of the funding request,
The address of the entity and person responsible
for the funds,
The $ amount requested,
The goals or outcomes expected as a result of the
funding.
All applicants will be notified of the Committee’s
award recommendations on or about May 30, 2019.
Please mail proposals to:

members of the clergy and the Caring Visits Team. If you
know of someone who would appreciate a shawl for a
personal need, you can pick one up at the church of-
fice. Questions? Please call Carol Goeman, 818-1213.

Life Groups
All men are invited to participate in a lay facilitated Men’s Bi-
ble Study that meets on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month at 8:00am in Luther’s
Lair and uses the Serendipity Bible for Groups (copies of the Bible are available in class). The
theme of the study is: Recovery: Grief and Loss: Getting Through the Night. The study meets next on
Saturday, April 13 at 8:00am. Topic of discussion is: Acceptance (Job 2:1-10). For more information about the
study, please contact Duane Udstuen by email at: [email protected].
In 2017-2018 Resurrection began a congregation-wide
study, The Story. Small self-chosen groups were formed and
completed the year long study and enjoyed the experience. The
following year a commitment was made to go a step further to
form Life Groups, based on the successful small group experi-
ence. A few of the earlier-formed groups decided to continue,
claiming their current group as their “Life Group.” These were
the kernel from which our current twenty-one groups have
grown. This is amazing growth in only one year!! God is bless-
ing our efforts to become a friendlier, more connected congre-
gation.
This success did not happen without planning and effort.
We have a Life Group Leadership Team consisting of five mem-
bers with Connie Burda as chairperson. Leadership training for
our individual group leaders was offered earlier this spring and
there are two workshops coming up, one in May and another in
the fall. A library and cataloging system has been developed to
help leaders choose studies. Books and materials for studies
have been funded and are in the process of being purchased.
Currently, the team is working on developing the Life Group Web Page, a part of the greater Resurrection
Website. This page will provide a ready reference for which groups are meeting, their focus, their leader’s contact
information, when each meets, and pictures of the fun they are having together.
It is our hope that the enthusiasm and energy created in the Life Groups will spill over into the greater congre-
gation to encourage more and more to join a group. Life groups offer fellowship, fun, an opportunity to grow in your
faith, and most importantly, experience the encouragement and joy of living in a Christ-centered community of peo-
ple. Please consider trying a group out, or even forming one yourself.
For Life group leaders, times, and contact information, please call Connie Burda at (208) 867-1771.

Lent, Holy Week, Easter Watchers on the Hill A Series of Special Services for Lent
Join us this Lenten season for the
ongoing drama series during our Wednesday
evening Services at 6:15pm in OV.
The hill called Golgotha was not empty that Fri-
day. Besides the crosses and those dying upon them,
there were witnesses - watchers on that ancient hill. This series of spe-
cial Services for Lent attempts to overhear the conversations between
those first-century characters - some historical, some fictitious - as they
witnessed the death of our Lord.
