RossJonesjoinedtheSt.JohnsRiverStateCollegestaffastheheadbaseballcoachonJune10,2008andassumedtheposi-tionofathleticdirectoronJune1,2009.InhissixseasonsatSJRState,Joneshasaccumulatedanoverallrecordof184-124andaMid-FloridaConference recordof85-58.Thesesix seasonshavebeenamong theprogram’smost successful in its 54 yearhisto-ryandincludetwoMid-FloridaConferenceChampionships(2013and2014)and three trips to theFCSAAState /NJCAARegion8Tournament(2010,2013and2014). During Jones’ first season at the helm, he led the Vikingbaseball teamtoa33-17recordanda fourthplacefinish in theMid-FloridaConference.The2010seasonsawtheVikingbaseballteamreturntotheFCSAA/Region8StateTournamentforthefirsttimesince1989afterfinishingsecondintheMid-FloridaConfer-ence,andin2013,theVikingswontheirfirstMid-FloridaConfer-enceChampionshipsince1977.The2013teamhadanoverallre-cordof38-18andan18-6conferencerecord.The38winsbrokethe previous school record of 33wins in a season by the 2009team.The18conferencewinsbroketherecordof15previouslyheldbythe1968and1970teams. JonesbeganhiscoachingcareerasanassistanttoDustyRhodes at the University ofNorth Florida,wherehe spentatotalofthreeseasonsintwoseparatestints(1993and2000-2001). He spent six seasons as an assistant coach at VanderbiltUniversity(1994-1999),whereheservedasthepitchingcoachandrecruitingcoordinator.JonesalsospentsixseasonsasthepitchingcoachandrecruitingcoordinatorattheUniversityofFloridaun-derHeadCoachPatMcMahon.AsarecruitingcoordinatoratVan-derbiltandFlorida,Joneshelpedsignsomeofthemosttalentedplayers,notonlyinFlorida,butalsoacrossthenation.Sevenofhisrecruitingclasseswererankedinthetop25nationally,withthreeinthetop10.His2003and2005recruitingclassesattheUniver-sityof Floridawereboth rankednumber three in thenationbyCollegiate Baseballmagazine.Asapitchingcoach,Jonestutored54pitcherswhohavegoneontosignprofessionalcontracts, in-cludingClintonJohnston,thePittsburghPirates’numberonedraftpickin1998.Also,eightofJones’pitchershavereceivedAll-Amer-icanhonors,includingToddEwasko,theNCAADivision2NationalPitcheroftheYearin2001,andJustinHoyman,theSoutheasternConferencePitcheroftheYearin2004.WhileJoneswascoachingattheUniversityofNorthFloridain2000and2001,theOspreyswonconsecutivePeachBeltConferencecrownsandappearedinback-to-backNCAADivision2CollegeWorldSeries.UNFfinishedthird in thenationbothyears. Jonesalsoplayedamajorrole intheUniversityof Florida’s2005SoutheasternConferencecham-pionship and the Gators’ postseason run to the NCAA Division1CollegeWorldSeries,wheretheGatorsplayed intheNationalChampionshipSeriesagainsttheUniversityofTexas. Jonesisa1984graduateofPalatkaHighSchool.Upongrad-uatingfromhighschool,hewasselectedbytheTexasRangersinthe1984Major LeagueBaseball amateurdraft.He spent sevenseasonspitchingfortheRangersandMontrealExposminorleaguesystems. CoggincomestoSJRStateviaMississippi.Duringhisplayingcareer,hewasatwo-timeAll-StateshortstopatBoonevilleHighSchoolandanAll-StateshortstopatNortheastMississippiCommunityCollege.HecontinuedhisplayingcareeratMississippiStateUniversity,whereheplayedfortwoyears(2007and2008)underlegendarycollegebaseballcoachRonPolk.Cogginwasamemberofthe2007BulldogteamthatplayedintheCollegeWorldSeriesinOmaha,Nebraska. Afterhisplayingcareerended,heassistedtheMSUbaseballstaffwithscouting,videoanalysisandcoordi-natingbaseballcamps.Heworkedundertwocurrentheadcoaches,MSU’sJohnCohen,whoisregardedbymanyasoneofthemostinnovativecoachesincollegiatebaseball,andLaneBurroughs,currentheadcoachatNorth-westernStateUniversity(LA).Whileonstaff,Cogginwaspartoftworegional,onesuper-regional,andanSECtournamentchampionshipteam. DuringCoggin’stimeatSJRState,theVikingshaveaccumulateda75-32overallrecordanda38-10overallrecordintheMid-FloridaCon-ferenceandwonback-to-backMid-FloridaConferenceChampionships. Cogginearnedhisbachelor’sdegreeinKinesiologyin2009andamaster’sdegreeinSportsAdministrationin2012fromMississippiStateUniversity.

Assistant Coach Mike Renner MikeRennerisinhisfirstyearwiththeSt.JohnsRiverStateCollegecoachingstaffasanassistantbaseballcoach.HewillbeassistingwiththeVikings’pitchingstaffandcoachingfirstbase. RennerhailsfromLosAngeles,CA,wherehegraduatedfromChatsworthHighSchoolin2009.Inhighschool,RennerwaspartofthreeLosAngelesCityChampionshipsandwasthe2009LosAngelesCityPlayeroftheYear.HewentontopitchattheCollegeofSouthernIdahoin2010and2011.HefinishedhiscollegiatecareerattheUniversityofNorthFloridain2012and2013underHeadCoachSmokeLavalandwaspartofthe2013UNFteamthatsettherecordforwinsinasingleseasonattheD-1level.RennerwasanAll-AtlanticSunConferencepitcherbothyearsatUNF.In2014,aftercompletinghiscareeratUNF,RennerservedasthepitchingandfirstbasecoachforPalatkaHighSchool. Rennerearnedhisbachelor’sdegreeinSportsManagementfromtheUniversityofNorthFloridain2013.

Trainer J. D. Douglas J.D.DouglashasbeentheHeadAthleticTraineratSt.JohnsRiverStateCollegesinceDecember,2010.Heisthefirstfull-timeAthleticTrainerinschoolhistory.DouglasservedforsixyearsintheU.S.NavyasaHospitalCorpsman.Aftermilitary service, he receivedadegree inAthleticTraining at theUniversityofNorth Florida.DouglashasworkedasanAthleticTrainerattheHighIntensityTrainingCenterofJacksonville,PaxonSchoolforAdvancedStudiesinJacksonville,andtheUniversityofNorthFlorida. DouglasisnationallycertifiedinAthleticTrainingbytheBoardofCertificationandislicensedbytheStateofFlorida’sDepartmentofHealth.HeisamemberoftheNationalAthleticTrainer’sAssociationandtheJacksonvilleSportsMedicineProject. HehasbeenmarriedtohiswifeJennifersince2001andhasafiveyearoldsonnamedJack.

Assistant Athletic Director John Theobold AftergraduatingfromtheUniversityofNorthFloridain1974,JohnTheoboldtaughtscienceandcoachedfootball,baseballandtrackatOrangeParkHighSchooluntil1976,whenhereturnedtoPutnamCountyandtaughtmathfor13years,alsocoachingfootballforsixandbaseballfortwoofthoseyears.In1989,TheoboldbecametheassistantprincipalforInterlachenHighSchool,apositionheheldforeightyearsbeforetransferringtoW.H.BeasleyMiddleSchool,whereheservedasprincipaluntiltheyear2000.TheoboldservedasthedirectorofhumanresourcesforthePutnamCountySchoolDistrictfrom2000-2006,theAreaDirectorandChiefNegotiatorfrom2004-2009.HethenbecameanAreaDirectorandPrincipalduringtheyears2006-2009. AfterretiringfromthePutnamCountySchoolDistrictwithatotalof35yearsinpubliceducation,TheoboldbeganassistingHeadCoachandAthleticDirectorRossJonesatSJRStateCollegein2009.HeservesasamemberofthePutnamCountyRecreationBoard,theSJRStateFoundationBoard,theSJRStateAthleticAssociationBoard,andservedontheUnitedWayBoardofDirectors,andtheFloridaEducationalNegotiatorsBoard.Hereceivedhisbachelor’sandmaster’sdegreesfromtheUniversityofNorthFlorida.HeplayedfootballattheUniversityofRichmondfrom1970-1971andbase-ballatSJRStatefrom1971-1972. Since 1958, the College has been dedicated to the positive development of youngmen and women through a variety of academic and athletic programs. Coach John Tindall TindallFieldisatributetoCoachJohnTindallforhis34yearsofserviceanddedicationtoSt.JohnsRiverStateCollege.Hisdevotionandcommitmenttoacademicandathleticexcellenceearnedhimtherespectandadmirationofhisplayers,fellowcoachesandthecommunity. Coach Tindall served as the head baseball coach for 30 years andamassed 493 victories, six Mid-Florida Conference Championships andnine FCCAA State Tournament appearances. He is a member of the FCCAA Hall of Fame and a recipient of the FCCAA Baseball Coaches AchievementAward. CoachTindallwillforeverberememberedforhisabilitytomotivateandencourageyoungpeopletostriveforsuccessonandoffthefield.
