MONTI!: VrsTA. COLO.
Mr. J. R. Snook, Rush Hill, Mo.
Dear Mr . Snook:-
Monte Vista, Colorado, March 2.6, 1930.
I have your letter of March 24t}. and see trhat you have been doing toward raising a trust fund in keeping up the Littleby Cemetery. I am glad you have succeeded in getting as much as you have. I note that you want to raise $500.00. I would think that you should have at least double that amount in order to maintain and keep up the Cemetery with the income of a trust fund. It has been my intention to place a monument on the graves of my father, mother a·nd brothers. One monument with the several foot-stones I think would answer the purpose. I intended to have done this before this time but have been a leading life. lie re and I have not had time to give it the intention I had expected to. Besides I want to confer witb my brother Herman .A. Veerkamp, who lives at Portland, and also Mrs. w. E. Veerkamp at Neosha, Missouri.
I hope to get back to Missouri sometime during the coming summer or fall, or as soon as I can find the time from my court work whi~h seems to be taking most of my time. I shall, however, try to get back there in August or September. I want to thank you for what you · are doing in this matter and wi l l try to see you when I get back to Missouri.
With best personal regards for your welfare, I am,

AJthough other sources exist noting Littleby churchyard as the burial place for James Veerkamp ' s parents, Bartholomew and Sarah (Brown) Veerkamp and his brother Bartholomew V. Veerkamp, .this letter ind!cates that his brothers Haivey B. and Emil K Veerkamp are buried there also. This appears logical as the family was living in the area at the times of their deaths.
. This letter is si~nificant as James Veerkamp ultimately did have a large stone erected in ~1ttleby Cemetery with only "Veerkamp" inscribed on it. As the stone has no given names on 1t, and some of the footstones are missing, it would not be known who was buried there without this letter. 8. o4f.
