Fatal Coq crashA 44-year-old Kamloops man died
Sunday afternoon when he lost control ofhis southbound SUV on
icy roads, strucka snow bank, rolled and hit a light stan-dard at
the Falls Lake exit of the Coq,near Coquihalla Lakes.
The vehicle's roof was crushed, andthe driver was trapped in the
vehicle. Hewas pronounced dead at the scene. His38-year-old wife,
the only passenger, wasextricated by an off-duty firefighter
fromthe Lower Mainland, an off-duty policeofficer and a paramedic.
Her injuries areconsidered non-life-threatening.
2013 assessment notces
Home values stableOwners of more than 3,500 properties
throughout the City of Merritt receivedtheir 2013 assessment
notices this week.
Values of most homes in Merritt areremaining stable compared to
last yearsassessment roll, said the Deputy Asses-sor. Most home
owners in Merritt will seemodest changes in the -5% to + 5%
range.
Overall, the City of Merritt Assess-ment Roll increased from
$898.071 mil-lion last year to $898.086 million thisyear. Almost
$5.4 million was added tothe 2013 roll total in the form of new
sub-divisions, rezoning & new construction.
Property owners who feel their as-sessment does not reflect
market valueshould contact the assessment officeASAP. Deadline to
submit a Notice ofComplaint (Appeal) is January 31, 2013.

technology, 4G LTE, offersInternet speeds 2-3 times faster than
the
HSPA+ technology most customers use.4G LTE was rolled out to
more than80% of British Columbians in 2012, andeven more BC
communities and resi-dents should be connected by the end of2013.
This investment is part of the $3 bil-lion Telus is investing in
new infrastruc-ture and facilities in BC until 2014.
