Sunday December 11th - Christmas Cantata & gifts received.

The Choir will be leading us in a special Christmas Cantata ‘ Rejoice in His Coming’ during the morning service on Sunday 11th December. A Cantata is a story which is told through a series of songs, so please join with us as we continue in Advent in this special way. This is also the service where we will be accepting the gifts for social services. Your generosity in giving is always deeply appreciated by those in need.

Free daily devotional booklet for Advent

We have put together a little booklet of daily readings for Advent, which is available to collect today. The readings begin on December 1st and take you through to Christmas Eve. These have been designed to either read on your own as part of your daily devotions, or to do as a family (with children or grandchildren). If this isn't something you've done before then the season of Advent is perfect opportunity to start. Advent is a time of ‘expectant waiting’ - so what better way to use it than by hearing God’s story of God’s arrival into God’s world. Pick up yours from the Information Desk in the Porch.

Christmas outreach in the De Courcy Centre. Following on from something similar at Easter, we are planning a Christmas Outreach in the De Courcy centre on two Saturdays in December. We plan to take a group of people from Joymount to do some Carol Singing, give out warm mince pieces, and copies of the ‘Christmas in three words’ booklet by Vaughan Roberts. If you would like to be part of this, please sign up on the sheet on the Information Desk over the next coupe of Sundays. There will be a chance to sign up either as a carol singer, someone to to give away the booklets and mince pies, or as one of the group to be at the church to help warm the mince pies. We are planning to do this on Saturday 10th December, from 1pm to 2pm (which will be after the annual family cinema trip). On Saturday 17th December we will be doing the same again from 11am to 12noon. Feel free to sign up for one of the Saturdays, but if you can do both that would be great. Also, in order to be able to do this we will need around 200 mince pies, so if you can buy a spare box in your shopping over the next couple of weeks thats would be a great help. Ideally, we need to receive these on or before Sunday 3rd December.

Men’s Breakfast. There will be no Men’s Breakfast in January, as we are joining with the rest of the Church Family for the Prayer Breakfast on Saturday 7th January. We will resume as normal on Sunday 4th February, with more information in the next edition of Joymount Life.
